"I switched BC because I was worried about being on Depo for 8 years. First, I switched to the arm implant and dealt with the month-long bleeding and hormonal changes for almost a year before finally being put on Falmina. Yes, I did bleed 7+ days the first placebo week, but by the second, I was already seeing improvement. Now, this also happened to correlate with me finally conquering my decade-long opiate addiction, so I'm not sure how much of my mood swings were attributed to that or the BC, but the mood swings were intense. Yes, I got super anxious and depressed, but when I found something that made me happy, it felt as if the happiness permeated my entire being. Sexually active with my man every day for a year with no protection, still no baby."

"I was on this pill for a little over 3 months, and this pill made my life hell! The only good thing about this pill is I didn't get pregnant, but this pill made me extremely depressed and very irritable. The last month I was on the pill, I had my period for 3 weeks, and it was still continuing when I switched to my new birth control, and the month before, I had my period for 10 days. I would not recommend this birth control to anyone!"

"First, I started off with Aviane and switched to Falmina, which, from what I was told, is the generic brand. Honestly, I had the most trouble with Aviane. I would get nausea, very emotional, low sex drive, and thick discharge. Never had any problems with spotting or irregular periods. Then when I started the Falmina, all basically was taken down a huge notch and the thick discharge went away. I like that I know the exact day I will start my period, it only lasts for about 4-5 days, also very light, and usually, I am not emotionally bothered. Occasionally, I can be irrational and a bit of a crybaby, although, it wasn't as intense as when I was on Aviane. The only problem that I've had is my muscles can get very tender after work or exercise."

"I started on this birth control 3 months ago, and it has given me awful mood swings and intense mood feelings. It made me feel depressed, and then I'd switch to feeling great. Also, it gave me blood clots in my lungs. Don't take this birth control."

"I hate this birth control! I was on a different kind that my body finally adjusted to when all of a sudden the pharmacy I went to switched me to this without any warning. I was upset! They claimed that it has the same ingredients. I'm almost in my third month of taking it and I get dizzy, weak, tired, and nauseous. I hate it so much! I also feel irritated and a lot of anxiety. I never had these side effects. I will be getting off of this. It's horrible and makes life miserable."

"Update to a previous review. I have been on this pill almost one year. Started off good, and now I am having horrible side effects. I went from 2-day periods to 7 days, and spotting several days a month. My hair has fallen out, and severe abdominal pains along with at least 2 migraines a month. Going to ob-gyn Tuesday for another option. May work well for some, I just don't do well on the pill."

"I hate this birth control, Falmina! I was on Mirena before this, and my periods were almost a month long while I was on that, so my doctor changed me to Falmina to make my periods more regular and shorter. It did not work. It's my second month on it, and my first month was the heaviest my period has ever been, it was also almost a month long. On month 2, I didn't get my period till week 3 of the pills, on the last pill for that week. Also, my acne is out of control, and my nipples and breasts were so sore and painful for weeks! I will be switching back to Mirena."

"So I started Falmina about 2 and a half months ago, and it's worked well for the birth control side of things, but the side effects emotionally are horrible. I've NEVER thought I had depressive dark thoughts until recently on this pill. I take it at night to avoid feeling sick throughout the day, but instead, I am more depressed than I've ever been. I cry at everything when before I would cry only once in a blue moon, and I can't seem to find the motivation to get up and do my regularly easy day-to-day duties as a stay-at-home mom. It hasn't affected my libido, but the depression has. I had a panic attack about a week ago and started crying uncontrollably, thinking about what life is about. This is not me, I lost my older sister 2 years ago and didn't think about suicide and wasn't this depressed. I'm going to the doctor this week to get my medication switched to a different brand. It has been an extremely challenging past 2 or so months. Plus, horrible nightmares every night."

"I have been on birth control since I was 16, I am now 24. I switched to Falmina about 5 months ago and immediately noticed an increase in acne. I never miss pills and got pregnant while on this pill. Highly recommend avoiding this drug."

"I typically don't experience much weight gain with birth control, have regular and fairly light periods, and nice skin. Three weeks in, my general four-day period is going on three weeks. My face feels rough, and I've gained nine lbs. OH MY LORD, my boobs hurt, and I've gained cup sizes. I'm also more emotional. Remember, everyone's body is different... try it and see if it works. I myself will be looking for something new."

"I was only on this pill for 2 months before basically forcing my doctor to change my prescription. I was spotting for 2-3 weeks straight both months I was taking it and having horrible mood swings. For a while, I thought I was depressed. They say birth control pills affect everyone differently, but this one was awful for me."

"I was taking this pill to prevent pregnancy, and it has failed me! I was on Falmina for almost a year and a half, and occasionally I would get my period a day or two early. But otherwise, it worked like clockwork. I was extremely religious about taking the pill, set an alarm on my phone, and never missed a pill. Well, I am now 3 1/2 months pregnant with our third child. This came as a huge shock. Like I said, I took this pill correctly, and it flat out failed! I would highly avoid taking this form of birth control. Like most, I fully trusted my doctor to prescribe a birth control pill. I am by no means blaming him, but moving forward, I would highly recommend researching yourself which form of birth control pill to use. If I would have read the reviews, I would have gotten off of it! As from reading other reviews now, I am not the first to use this pill correctly and still get pregnant! Obviously, we are in baby mode and want nothing more than a happy, healthy baby."

"I was switched to this birth control, and it was the absolute worst experience of my life. This pill had me in and out of the hospital for 2 weeks. It started with headaches, depression, then I started having numbness and tingling on my left side. I thought I was having a stroke. Felt as if a balloon was in my head. Doctors swore that I was on some type of street drug. I went from hospital to hospital for anyone that could help me. I was at the point where I tried to commit suicide. Even now, I still have side effects two years later. I've been on other pills before with no experience like this. The admitting hospital said it was absence seizures. But my OB believed me and knew what it was."

"Okay, so I just wanted to update. This pill is killing my face. I literally have over 30 pimples on my face that are huge, red, cystic, and definitely 100% because of this pill. I never had acne like this. Also, it gave me gingivitis. I literally have gum issues because this pill is so wacked out. I am a very mellow person, and recently I have been having the worst anxiety, and it's definitely because of this. Today was my last pill, so hopefully everything will start to go back to normal."

"I took this pill for 3 weeks, then entered the placebo week. It has caused massive hair loss for me. There is nothing to be done but wait for it to leave my bloodstream. I have long hair that is coming out in ropes and bunches. I would never recommend this to a friend. I am devastated with the results of the side effects."

"I have been on this pill for over 2 months now, and good news, I have not gotten pregnant (my partner and I stopped using the withdrawal method and condoms). But that is the only thing I like about this pill. The first month I was on the pill, I was fine, I had no complications, but right after I started my second pack, I got my first period, and it lasted 10 days, and it was heavy and crampy every day. (Usually it was only heavy and crampy the first day, and usually, it was only 5 days.) I then started getting awful mood swings where I was angry and upset all the time. I am going to switch my pill at the end of the 3 months."

"I had the Nexplanon implant for 3 years, got it taken out, and my Dr. started me on the Falmina birth control. I've been taking it for two weeks now, and it's made me so sick, constantly throwing up. Chills. Sweats. Diarrhea. The works. I still haven't had my period either. I'm still on the fence about it."

"I spotted every day for the first two weeks on Falmina. And then it happened-I began to hemorrhage. This went on for 24 hours. Clots the size of golf balls began falling out of me every hour. I had to create makeshift diapers with my towels. I had to admit myself into express care early Saturday morning after a full night of no sleep due to such heavy bleeding. I have given birth and thought there was a lot of bleeding afterward. That was nothing compared to this. They gave me a pregnancy test in case it was a miscarriage, but it wasn't. It was just a nightmarish side effect of the birth control. They had to put me on something to stop the bleeding. It was a horrible experience and one I hope none of you has to endure."

"I was put on this BC a month ago, and I did not like it at all! I was on Lutera and Sronyx for months, and it worked perfectly for me. After being switched to Falmina, I noticed I would wake up with dry eyes and a dry mouth, and what was even worse was that my genital area itched like crazy! I knew it had to be the BC pills because whenever I would take the placebo pills during my period, the dryness went away and the itching stopped. I've been switched to Aubra, and the itching is still there. I'm going to wait a while to see if the dryness continues. If it does, I'm switching back to Lutera!"

"Okay, so I definitely have found it to be good at what it does if you take the pill correctly, but the thing is, I found it to be awful for my mood. I find that I am always upset at something, but the thing is, my pharmacy gives me a different generic every month. But I’ve been taking birth control for over two years now, and I cry a lot now because of it too. I wish there was a more effective way of birth control without having a shot or something going into me and has to be removed. I don’t think I can handle taking this medication because I’m either angry or depressed now, and I can’t handle that. I finally got out of my depression when I turned 18, and now I’m 20 and back at it again."

"I had a terrible experience with Falmina. I moved to a new area where they didn't have the brand of birth control, Aviane, so they switched me to Falmina. I had been taking Aviane for more than two years without any problem. Since starting Falmina, I've had terrible cystic acne all over my chin (I usually have clear skin). I've experienced terrible dryness and itchiness down there, and pain during sex with my husband. Emotionally, I'm usually very stable, but I have been sluggish and feeling down since starting to take this medication. Since I put the pieces together, I've decided to get off this medicine. I don't feel like myself at all!"

"This is effective in terms of keeping me from getting pregnant. I was a little upset my pharmacy gave me something new without telling me, but I tried it anyway. My previous birth control didn't make me lose weight or gain weight. Made it constant unless I worked out. This new birth control I've been taking for three months now made me gain back weight that took me a long time to lose. I'm pretty upset. It makes me act out and feel more depressed than I am at random times. I'm more upset about it making me gain weight. I also break out a little more than usual. I already have bad acne, but I noticed I get it more often now. Other than that, no baby. No other side effects I noticed. I will be asking my pharmacy to change my birth control when I am done with my last one."

"I’ve been on Falmina for about 5 months now, and before this, I was on Tri-Linyah. I switched over to Falmina because Tri-Linyah constantly made me nauseous and physically sick. Falmina has not made me feel like that, and my period is really light. I have gained some weight while being on it, but I’m also 19 and don’t eat the healthiest because my boyfriend has been cooking for me. My boyfriend and I are sexually active and don’t use condoms or the morning-after pill, and I haven’t had any pregnancy scares, and I’m super paranoid about that all the time. I would recommend this birth control, but I know everyone reacts differently."

"So I started using Aubra (name brand for this drug) in 2017. The pharmacy switched me to Falmina in 2018, and I took it for a year with no issues. (Long story and personal history later) I've been on Falmina for the last 8 months again and have noticed no issues. I've always been someone with a light period, and I still get it on Falmina just as light. My only 'problem,' I guess, is that sometimes the pills for the period week take 2 or 3 days to kick in, and sometimes that gets my paranoia going, but as far as side effects of this medication, I, a 24 y/o female, have had no issues with it both times I've taken it."

"I'm 18 years old, and I started this birth control 3 months ago. I went on birth control specifically for my acne and my irregular periods. This birth control did the exact opposite of helping my acne. In the beginning, I broke out extremely on my forehead and hairline. They aren't even pimples, just huge bumps, and you can't do anything about it. It is my 3rd month taking it, and I'm still breaking out. I absolutely do not recommend this birth control for the use of acne. However, this did make my period very consistent, extremely light, and barely any cramps."
