For Birth Control "Switched to Aviane from Lutera. Terrible mistake. First, my period was longer than normal (8-9 days). Second, I have fluid retention and bloating that kills my sex drive, so I don't even know how the actual medication affects my libido. My skin is now oily and uneven, with increased acne on my shoulders and back. My weight was steady and only varied about 2 pounds on any given day until I started this junk. Avoid it. Don't do it. Switching back to Lutera and throwing this out. I would rather be pregnant than deal with this medication."

For Birth Control "I’ve been using Aviane for 3 months, and I decided to change the brand. I don’t have any severe side effects, but I noticed I lost my sex drive and didn’t get wet enough since taking this pill. I don’t have any depressed feelings or anxiety, but the problem of sex drive is a big issue for me."

For Birth Control "At first, this pill made me miserable. I had the worst mood swings and took it out on everyone around me. I stopped taking it after one month, but then I tried it again a few months later, and nothing bad happened. You just need to give your body enough time to get used to it. No weight gain, no mood swings (by the second month), no breast changes, etc. My face isn't totally clear of acne, and my period cramps/flow is only a little less, but this is a good pill if you just want the basics without altering your body."

For Birth Control "My experience with Aviane has been really amazing. I lost a little weight when I was first put on it, but my appetite seemed relatively normal. I've not had any luck with it reducing acne, however, my period became completely regular. I can pinpoint its start within a 32-hour range, and it has reduced my flow and cramps significantly. I used to get nauseous and dizzy when my period would start, and now, other than the occasional light cramping, it is hardly noticeable."

For Birth Control "Aviane is an amazing birth control! I have been on this for 5 years, and although it is the first one I’ve tried, it works wonderfully! No acne issues, weight gain, mood changes, and I am not pregnant. I strongly recommend it."

For Endometriosis "My endometriosis was diagnosed 2 years ago. 1 year ago, I started experiencing pain during my ovulation too. My doctor recommended Aviane because it has few side effects. The first weeks, I experienced mild headaches and nausea, but the symptoms didn't bother me. I'm regular, but I didn't have my period during the 1st month of taking the pill. By my doctor's recommendation, I would only take hormones and not the placebo pills at all for 3 months. After a few weeks, my period came, more days than usual with a lot of pain. It wasn't abundant, but it wasn't spotting either. The pain during ovulation was not reduced, the headaches are the worst, and the breast pain is bad. I have mood swings, not depressing (anger episodes), and I had the worst vaginal infection ever, something very strange for me. With this coronavirus around, I was unable to see my doctor. I decided to stop taking the pills, in my case, the pain is worse than before. Maybe the pills need more time to adjust, but not thanks."

For Birth Control "I have been on Alesse/Aviane for 10 years. It was the first and only birth control pill I have ever used and chose it over others on purpose. I chose it because it is one of the lowest-dose oral contraceptives on the market, and the progesterone they use (levonorgestrel) is very close to the molecular makeup of natural progesterone. The only symptoms I experienced during the first month were breast tenderness and clearer skin (I used to have adolescent acne). I know some individuals have experienced more severe symptoms than I have described. I think it boils down to your own body's hormonal balance."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 3 years now. I haven't had any major problems or side effects. I do have a significantly lower sex drive now, however. I have PCOS, and Aviane really helps me keep all my symptoms of PCOS in check. I now have my period every month exactly on time. Like I said, I've never really had any trouble with it besides changing the consistency of my blood. During my periods, I have a lot more clots than I used to have off the pill. I did read the side effects, and this is noted in there, and I've asked several doctors, so it's not too alarming to me. Other than that, the past two months were kind of hard. I had two periods in one month. I do attribute this to taking a supplement called Maca, however, because after I experienced these multiple periods, I stopped taking Maca and haven't had any problems since. So if anything, take your pill and stay away from Maca, it can disrupt your cycles."

For Birth Control "After getting off of Ortho-Tricyclen Lo, I switched over to several other generic brands, which my gyno recommended, all of which had crazy side effects (breakthrough spotting/bleeding, acne, rashes on my face, crazy mood swings). Aviane is the first one that I've had no problems with so far: clear skin, no mood swings. Only minor issue is the small weight gain due to my increase in appetite, other than that, no complaints whatsoever!"

For Birth Control "I really like this birth control. I first got on it when I was experiencing terribly painful cramps that made me throw up. Once I started taking the pill, everything was instantly better. No cramps at all, skin looked great, mood was fine. I was perfectly happy. However, when I was off the pill for a month, the painful cramps came back and I was vomiting. This is the best birth control I've had. I recommend it for everyone."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 3 months. During the first month, things were okay. During the last two months, my breasts are constantly super sore, and I have (mild but annoying) cramping every day. My breasts have also definitely gotten bigger, which is okay, but I'm not sure the pain is worth it. Also, before my last period, I turned into an emotional monster, and I'm usually pretty even-keeled. I know it can take a few months to even out, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to give it."

For Birth Control "So I started this BC Aviane because my wedding is coming up (I have never used BC before), and I have been on it for two whole packs. The first pack was fine, I felt normal. Had some nausea the first couple of days, but that faded away. HOWEVER, my period was much more painful than normal. Things changed with the second pack. I had weird acid reflux that would be triggered by everything, then that turned into diarrhea for a couple of days, and then I started getting spots on my skin and having digestion problems. I went to my doctor, and she said it was Candida (yeast overgrowth). I woke up with panic attacks, passed out one time, had nausea all day for a couple of days until I finally stopped taking the pill. I am very sad this didn't work for me. I am already sensitive to medication, so I am not surprised. This pill could work for you, so don't jot it down before trying it. But if you have any similar symptoms, listen to your body and try something else."

For Birth Control "Worst medication. It did what it was supposed to, but the side effects aren’t worth preventing pregnancy. It was okay, but I bled for the first month. Then my skin broke out, then was fine after the first month. Then the severe water retention and weight gain happened. Started at 120 lb and am 170 lb now. The premenstrual symptoms were insane. Like I had mood swings, anxiety, and depression. I’m a year in and have had serious suicidal thoughts. I never had mental health issues prior to this medication. Out of the whole month, I only felt mentally stable one week. That’s so crazy. Please don’t take them. Your mental health isn’t worth it."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for over a year now, so I have a pretty good idea of its effectiveness. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this medication, and I have had a positive experience with it. The only downside is that I experienced crazy mood swings the first 3 months of starting the medication, but it regulated itself and went away. Other than that, I am obviously not pregnant, did not gain weight, never had problems with acne, and no nausea. It also regulates my period, and my period starts on the exact anticipated day every single month for over a year."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My doctor put me on Aviane to suppress my periods for terrible PMS and mood swings. I have been taking them now for 4 weeks. I am supposed to be getting my period today and feel GREAT. I have not gained any weight, which I would gain 5 pounds just prior to my period. Besides the very mild cramps, nothing unusual. I do not feel any lack of sexual drive but do feel slightly drier than normal. Again, I can deal with all of these symptoms to skip the PMS rollercoaster. So far, so GREAT! I am 39, two kids, no more, with a history of depression-type symptoms."

For Birth Control "I gave this birth control a chance after coming off of a non-hormonal birth control that didn't control my periods. There was absolutely nothing good about this pill. I gave it seven months. My acne has permanently disfigured my jawline, large patches of cysts, new ones daily. They are inflamed and painful. Nothing helps, more kept coming. My period never came on time and would still be 9 days, controllable but still too much for being on BC. My moods were out of control. Constant suicidal thoughts. I've never dealt with such bad constant intrusive thoughts in my life. They need to take this pill off the market. It is literally dangerous. Three days off, my emotions are controlled, and I haven't had a cystic acne in 3 days!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been having a hell of a time finding the right b.c.! Major mood swings, cramps, nonstop bleeding, no sex drive, but so far I like Aviane. I'm on my second month. I am no longer bleeding (first pack I did for a while, but my body had to adjust). No mood swings, normal sex drive, breasts a bit tender and larger (not mad about that), appetite a bit bigger, but for me that's good. I need to gain weight."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 3 months now and have had severe mood swings. My boobs grew a half size, but it doesn't make up for the mood swings I've been having. I'm normally a relaxed person, but Aviane makes me extremely angry. I am going to switch pills as soon as possible."

For Birth Control "I was scared with the reviews at first, but I actually love Aviane birth control. I had some side effects when I first started like headache and some mild dizziness, but that went away within the first week. I had some very mild spotting after the headaches and dizziness went away, but that also went away quickly. The previous pill that I was on before this gave me weekly panic attacks that ruined my life. I thought I had panic disorder at some point due to how bad it was and could barely leave the house. After I switched a month ago, I had no panic attacks ever since. My agoraphobia from that also seemed to go away. Now I'm able to get out of the house a lot more often. My anxiety has greatly reduced, and my resting heart rate is back to normal because of it."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about a month now, and I haven't had any issues. Before, I was on Chateal, and I had no sex drive. Then, I tried Lutera, and it gave me extreme anxiety. Aviane has helped me get my sex drive back without causing me anxiety. I read a lot of great reviews on here about Aviane, so I decided to try it. The only issue I have now is light spotting in between periods, but I know that's normal when you switch birth controls."

For Birth Control "Love love this pill! This is the first hormonal birth control method I’ve ever tried, and it’s been amazing. It’s helped my mood a lot, has been great contraception, has regulated my periods, and made them significantly lighter. My skin is also much better. I have gained some weight, but I don’t attribute it to the pill - it’s been a stressful few months in my personal life. I don’t think it’s due to the pill because it’s been easy to lose weight as well. The only thing I don’t love about it is that my already oily hair is now a bit greasier, but I’ve found good hair products that make this little problem basically nonexistent. Overall, I really recommend."

For Birth Control "I have taken a few different birth controls and had a lot of problems with them (Apri - painful sharp pains during intercourse, cramps). I love Aviane. I do not have cramps ever, period lasts 3-4 days (not heavy), always comes the same day, pain has stopped, no weight gain, no cravings, no mood swings, nothing. I've taken it for over a year. My sex drive has decreased a little, but I don't know if it's because of this pill as I don't really recall when my sex drive lessened."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for several months now. My period used to be like clockwork. Not with Aviane. I have a much-prolonged period. Sometimes it comes every 2-3 weeks. I cannot predict my period anymore, which I've never experienced with other pills (by the way, I've been on BC for 20+ years). On my next annual check-up, I am definitely asking my doctor to put me back to old ones."

For Birth Control "I’m still on this pill, but every website said that after 2-3 months the breakthrough bleeding would end, but I’m almost on month 6 and my bleeding just won’t stop! I go at least 2 weeks on my period now, and I get so frustrated!! I ran out of period panties!! I’m getting super moody too because of the long periods. I’m on the pill to reduce my previously long periods, but now they’re even worse!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for almost 5 months now. I have experienced weight gain, increased anxiety, and have had moderate depression. I have also had difficulty breathing when working out and have recently developed vision problems (a floater). I am not 100% sure that this is derived strictly from Aviane, but I have never had these issues before. I am going to discontinue use."
