Falmina (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been on Falmina birth control for about 8 months now and I love it. I have not got pregnant, and my cycles are much lighter, less cramps and shorter. My acne has cleared! I would most definitely recommend this birth control, only negative things I find annoying at times is breast tenderness."

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve been taking seasonique for almost 2 months. I’d heard that it would allow me to skip periods which I desperately needed because my periods were so severe. Completely unbearable cramps, nausea, fatigue, heavy flow, etc. About 3 weeks ago I started having horrible cramps and bleeding and it has not stopped for one day since. I have literally been on my period for 3 weeks! I would have been better off not taking it at all. At least this pain would only last a week or so. I’ve also had some weight gain without changing my diet so I feel like it’s another side effect of this birth control. I had such high hopes for it but sadly, it kind of sucks."

Alesse-28 (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "When I started taking this pill my life went downhill. I was on it for 2 months and bled for 2 months straight. Within the first week of taking it, I was so bloated and gained so much weight to the point where I couldn’t fit into any of my pants. It caused numerous mental health issues and I thought I was going crazy. I couldn’t control my emotions and I was extremely irritable. All of these problems went away as soon as I stopped taking this pill. Do not take it or have your children on it."

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I read the reviews of Vienva prior to taking it & was very anxious. I take the pill to regulate my cycle. Negatives: I had random sharp cramps the 2nd & 3rd week of taking it, which continued while on it. The next was my fault, I read online if you skip the placebo week you'll skip your period. I had a normal withdrawal bleed after the first pack. My next cycle was on my birthday, so I tried to skip. Every day after my birthday for 2 weeks I bled on active pills. I gave up & had a random placebo week & it stopped in a few days. I started up the pill again after & had very light on & off spotting, then ran out of pills from the 3 packs. My body wasn't used to the pill & it was too early to skip. Positives: nails grew really long, lost & kept off 5lbs. My mood changed for the better - less anxiety, didn't get as frustrated. My acne went from nothing to deep painful pimples here and there the first month, but afterwords it went away. Hopefully this review helps"

I spotted my first 2 months and then had no periods, my skin cleared up and I LOST weight! My breast grew two bra sizes and I definitely did NOT lose my sex drive! I wish this worked for everyone as well as it worked for me!"

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "This Vienva birth control has been great for me. I've taken Aviane which is the brand name for a year and I've been on Vienva for 7 years. I started taking birth control when I was 15 due to missed periods and horrible cramping. I took Lo Loestrin FE at first, that was awful for me the hormones weren't strong enough. Then my doctor put me on this and it's wonderful. The only side effect I ever had and only twice was horrible vomiting when I forgot to take a pill for more than 12 hours. That has not happened since and I've taken the pill everyday at the same time for at least two year now with no mistakes. Please note that EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT. So many people on here are saying this is a horrible medication and it is not. It's what works for you."

Orsythia (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I was so scared to start this pill because of all the negative reviews, so glad I started anyways! I had been on the Mirena for 5 years and didn't want another so my Dr prescribed me these. First, they were free under my insurance. I have not gained ANY weight and have had zero side effects! Other then making sure to remember to take them, it has been a painless transition. Don't be scared of the bad reviews, what works for some may not work for others! These have been great!"

Lessina (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "Let me remind you that everyone's body is different and every time you begin a new birth control, it can take about 3 months before you fully adjust to it. So don't get anxious about the bad reviews. I began this pill because I would get hives a week before my period, insane acne breakouts on my back, & cramps all the time. I've been on this pill for a month & I can feel the difference this pill has made already. I have experienced simple symptoms like nausea but the nausea doesn't bother me. I noticed that it has reduced my appetite but not dangerously. I just find myself snacking less! Also, my sex drive has not gone (which is a first with birth control). I have a history of anxiety (GAD & OCD with panic attacks) & this pill hasn't made me more anxious. If anything, I feel that it improved my mood & balances my hormones perfectly. I'm confident that the symptoms I have experienced will minimize within that 3 month period. So give your body & the pill some time!"

I had no weight gain, no hair loss, my skin was generally pretty clear, and the best part were the 4 periods a year. My hair also grew very fast, and was super long and shiny. Only con was that if I didn’t always take it at the same time every day, I would get breakthrough bleeding."

Aviane (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "When I first started taking birth control, I was started on Aviane and I really loved it. I lost weight and I went from an A cup bra to a C cup bra in just 2 months. After a year or 2 I go switched to Lessina and I didn't like it! Got horrible headaches, gained weight, and cramps were horrible. After 2 years of Lessina I begged to be switched back to Aviane, and now only after 2 months of taking it I have lost 11 lbs and the cramps and headaches are gone. I do get tender breast while on my period but I rather have tender breast and moodiness and cramps! Oh and my sex drive is up the roof!"

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "Being in nursing school, I decided to try BC. I read the reviews but thought I would be fine. I took it in Jan. and had no symptoms but then noticed I was having severe anxiety. I had already been in nursing school for a semester before taking it and never experienced this amount of anxiety. I have always been an anxious person but never to the point of needing meds for it. I had to DROP OUT of nursing school and get on anti-anxiety meds(still on them). I stopped taking the BC after 2 months. It got so bad that I developed OCD anxiety and I have the worst intrusive thoughts that make me feel like I’m capable of doing horrible things which causes more anxiety/depression. The depression isn’t as bad anymore since stopping but it was so bad that I felt no emotion. I wasn’t excited anymore. It has been 4 months and I still don’t feel 100% but I’m a lot better. I have NEVER written a review before but felt like I needed to speak out. Please do not even try it!"

Alesse-28 (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been off birth control for almost 6 years, I couldn't find one that suited me and didn't make me a bloated crazy person. I had tried yaz, yasmin, triciclyn lo and so many others. The only one I had not tried were the mini pills or alesse. Very hesitant because last time, I bled for weeks, I was depressed, anxious, vomiting a lot, dizzy, and felt like garbage. It took almost a year to get used to Yasmin and even then felt awful. I'm on the generic version Alesyna, and I've had ZERO side effects. I was worried about my sex drive declining and gaining weight as well as depression being on it, but none of that has happened. If anything, my sex drive is higher than usual, my periods are lighter and shorter, I overall feel extremely happy all the time. No mood swings. I was terrified by all the bad reviews, but like my doc said, every body is different and you just have to keep trying til you find one that works for you."

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "So I have really bad anxiety and depression and I told my doctor this and told her I didn’t want a birth control that would make it worse and she put me on this birth control. I look up all the reviews and everyone is saying it made them depressed but I decided to try it anyways because I know medicine works differently on everyone. So I started the medicine and it made my depression and anxiety so bad I started getting suicidal and self harm thoughts which I haven’t had in awhile. I also have completely no sex drive and when orgasm was only small. I only took the medicine for 2 weeks and then I stopped it. I’ve been bleeding and spotting and I’m not on my period and I’ve been off of it for over a week. I don’t recommend you take this if you have mental health problems."

Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "If I could rate this medication a 0 I would. Ladies with anxiety and depression...PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS. I suffer with anxiety however (through years of practice) I have been able to learn coping mechanisms. I have taken birth controls for years but, after noticing subtle changes with Tri Nessa, I decided to get put on a different birth control. My doctor told me Lutera was a good fit and I took his word for it. After taking this for literally a week I noticed I was having really DARK thoughts. My boyfriend would roll over In bed and find me crying for no reason. I was having anxiety like I had never experienced before. For instance, I was shaking, feeling like a 10 lb weight was on my chest, and I was feeling like I was going to pass out. After putting two and two together and realizing the only new addition to my daily routine was Lutera, I decided to stop taking the pill."

Lutera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been on Lutera for about 4 years now and its been pretty good! No huge complaints at all here! My breasts definitely got bigger but besides that not much weight gain as others have mentioned. I do have mood swings ever since I started Lutera but I mostly just cry easier when I'm PMSing and that's it. As for effectiveness it works great and I pretty much have my period down to the hour at which I know it will start. If you take the pill as instructed, it works great!"

Seasonique (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I've been taking Seasonique for 4 months now. I've had no break through bleeding, no problems with sex drive, no serious weight gain or acne. I've also noticed that my moods have become more level (as I was diagnosed with PMDD & my dr thought that leveling out the hormones for a longer period of time would help). Also, my periods only last about 3 days. Love this pill."

Vienva (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "Update from May review: I really love this Vienva pill. Out of all similar ones, this one is closest to Lutera. I did have some breakthrough spotting my 1st pack due to switching from a minipill. Once I had that 7 day withdrawal bleed my body reset like the nurse said and no more bleeding on active pills. I keep my pill pack in my wallet too with this being a low dose. My periods start 2.5 days into the sugar pills and are 6 days total with my 3rd day being semiheavy to medium and the rest light flow. I do get overly tired and moody with headaches 3 days before I start my period. But no angry random mood swings all month like some pills. Skin stays mostly clear except for a couple pimples before my period. Might have lost a few pounds too. My boyfriend and I both love that my sex drive is up and that this pill has given me pregnancy protection. This pill is worth a fair shot. If a pill doesn't agree with you after 2-3 months, call your ob and switch. I have been thru this many times myself."

I had a few headaches and crying spells; however, after my body adjusted I’m completely content. Don’t be too scared and try it once your period starts. I started to wear a pad after the brown discharge (breakthrough bleeding) started, but that’s the worst as it’s gotten. Expect some bloating, do your research, and stick with what your body accepts. Ashlyna (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I’ve been on this pill for almost 2 years now , I love it ! I used to get very BAD , HORRIBLE period & I couldn’t stand it at all . I need something that wouldn’t give me my period or gave it to me every 3 months! So I got on Ashlyna! I haven’t gotten my period in 2 YEARS! Yayyyy!!!! My skin has been clear, no mood swings, and my sex drive was finally back up after getting off my last pill. Unfortunately my bloating and weight gain has been so excessive that I’ve taken several pregnancy tests just to make sure. Larissia (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) "IDK who needs to hear this but this BC is the reason you’re not feeling like yourself . I have been taking Larissia for 8 months, at first I was only experiencing painful constant headaches and increased appetite but as time went on the side effects worsened and TBH I was in-denial and didn’t want to switch because my periods are so light and only last 3 days but it’s not worth how fatigued, angry, uncontrollable, depressed, anxious, and emotional I feel. I have been falling out with the people closest to me for no reason, my sex drive decreased, the headaches are so painful my vision gets blurry and with all this I have a child to care for , so I’m here to warn you pay close attention to your body . If you feel even slightly different immediately stop taking it because it will get worst . Avoid this BC at all cost !!!!!!!!"

Orsythia (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "I have been taking Orsythia for about a year and a half and I have no complaints about it. After reading a lot of the comments I noticed people were only unsatisfied with it because of pimples and weight gain. Sure I get an occasional pimple or cramp but can we look at the bigger picture? It does its job in protecting us from getting pregnant. That's all I have to say."

Altavera (ethinyl estradiol / levonorgestrel) for Birth Control "Was really scared of weight gain and acne from reading the reviews, but did not experience any of that. My breasts were super sore but they also did go from B to DD in a span of few months. Only a bit of bloat but nothing that some herbal teas and work out didn’t fix. Also sex drive was CRAZY high on this! Ladies whatever BC you might be taking remember to take your supplements (B2, B6, B12, folic acid, vitamin A, zinc, iron) etc since BC lowers all that and it might explain symptoms. As always, you never know how your body will react unless you try it! Stay vigilant for symptoms but try not to be too paranoid or stressed. It is your own body!"
