Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I have been using 1mg every night for 12 days and am not sure if I can tolerate my side effect symptoms much longer to see if the cream actually works to diminish extremely painful intercourse due to dryness. I now have very tender breasts, a constant mild headache, and swelling, tenderness, and dryness of the external genitalia almost since the first day that I started using the cream. The only good effect so far is that my libido does seem to be heightened. So now I feel 'sexy' again but can't do anything about it because of all my discomfort! I plan on continuing using the cream at every third day intervals for 2 more weeks to see if my side effects subside. If I am still miserable, I will stop the medication and look for a non prescription vaginal moisturizer as my last hope for a continued sex life."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Really good experience with stronger dose. Now on lower dose and after a year or so the effect is nothing like as good. As atrophic vaginal conditions increase with age, it is obvious that what once worked well will no longer be effective at lower dosage. It is a shame that so many women will have to suffer this painful condition because of a shiort term study of a very small sample of women."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I tried 1 gram of Estrace 4 days in a row. I had extreme dryness prior to taking it. It corrected that, however I experienced itching, burning and several trips to the bathroom at night to urinate. I am through with it!"

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I have been using estrace vaginal cream for 8 weeks now, about 2 x a week and it has helped my vaginal dryness and prolapse but I am experiencing side effects, anxiety, bleeding gums, joint and muscle pain, problems with sleep. I don't like this. I am going to look for a more natural estrogen."

Yuvafem (estradiol) "I am so angry about this issue. Vagifem works, Yavafem does not. Like many of the others my insurance changed and now Vagifem is not covered. Yuvafem was like using nothing. Everything went right back to the way it was before weeks of treatment with vagifem (burning urination, dryness in vagina). I give up."

Estring (estradiol) "I’ve been using the Estring for at least five years, since menopause. I love it, it works great, if I take a “break” from it thinking I don’t need it anymore, I get dryness and urethral burning. I’ve tried estrogen cream but it’s so inconvenient having to remember to insert it! With the estring I’m good for a whole three months! It’s easy to insert and remove, since I’m comfortable with my intimate parts... you just have to hook a finger and pull! Only downside is that it used to cost $15 with my work insurance but now with Medicare and Humana it’s $95, but since it lasts three months it’s really not awful and totally worth it! Go Estring!!"

Yuvafem (estradiol) "I have used Vagifem for years without any issues whatsoever. It worked well and caused no problems. Then my insurance switched me to Yuvafem and it's been a nightmare. If I could give this drug a zero, I would have. Burning, redness, the feeling of having a UTI, then actually getting a UTI for the first time in 20 years, painful intercourse. The drug is completely ineffective for what it is supposed to do and it is causing plenty of problems. When I looked at the ingredients, I see that estradial is the same but the carrier ingredients are different, specifically Yuvafem uses propylene glycol. So, I could deal with the awful packaging if the drug actually worked and didn't cause so many problems, but it doesn't work and had me thinking I had some terrible infection for the last 3 weeks till my dr and I figured out it was the Yuvafem. I will be trying out the Estring and if I can't deal with it, I will be paying the big bucks and go back to the Vagifem."

Imvexxy (estradiol) "I just started my 3rd month of using the 10 mcg insert of Imvexxy. The dryness has been completely reversed, which in turn stopped my chronic BV. Yay!! However, I've been feeling nauseous and crampy with a mild headache for the past 6 weeks. I also seem to be experiencing more hot flashes and night sweats. I don't want to believe its the Imvexxy causing this and the low back pain but, since nothing else has changed, and I take no other medications, I can only assume it is the Imvexxy. I am almost 60 yrs old and been in menopause for 8 yrs or so. I keep thinking these symptoms will go away but they actually may be worsening. I'll likely finish using the rest of this prescription but not renew it."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Oh my goodness ! I was prescribed Vagifem for terrible urine problems where I constantly had pressure to use my bladder. Well my initial response was good and it cleared up this problem really well but the side effects were horrendous. I had severe heart palpitations and feeling of absolute panic. I was journaling when I had heart palpitations and panic attacks and it was always a day after I used vagifem. I stopped using them, and I got better, after stopping for 3 months. My doctor told me to try half a tablet once a week, well I had a reaction but my palpitations were even worse. I cannot use them, so I don’t know how to treat my Atrophic Vaginitis."

Vagifem (estradiol) "I've tried this medication for over a year and it just doesn't work. It's maybe helped increase vaginal moisture just a tiny bit, but it sure hasn't help w/ pain during intercourse. I've found it to be a waste of money."

Imvexxy (estradiol) "I began Imvexxy hoping it would help with the dryness and itchiness I sometimes feel. I have not been sexually active in years, but the dryness drives me crazy. This has not helped with the dryness, though the itchiness has stopped. Then, I suddenly began to get boils, and more than one. I’ve never had them before. I began to feel rundown and fatigued as well. My eyes began to feel dry as well. I won’t continue using this product. I’ll definitely try something else."

Estring (estradiol) "I've absolutely stop looking and spending money on lubes, vitamins, etc I'm 46 and all my lab work comes back normal but my yoni says different. I'm way too active to let vaginal dryness stop my life. I decided to get the Estring after a couple of years of battling with dryness and it was the BEST decision of my life. After 2 weeks my yoni has no more dryness. No lube needed to start! We just go whenever we feel like it. Best decision I've ever made. Go for it if you're tired of googling and dryness."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "USE IT OR LOOSE IT. Was prescribed Esctrace cream for dryness & painful sex. once a day for 2/weeks, then twice a week. 10 days and dramatic improvement. Here is the deal; waiting for 2 weeks before attempting sex. After 5 days I was able to do it with no problem. Not really enjoyable, but not painful at all. Best time was first in morning for a couple of minutes But if morning not an option, then a couple of minutes at night. but before inserting the cream so you don't accidentally take it all out."

Vagifem (estradiol) "I am 65 years old and my last period was 12 years ago - I never had any real issues with menopause, one of the very lucky ones, I realize. I was prescribed vagifem 2.5 months ago - I did the prescribed one tab daily for two weeks then one tab twice a week. It was prescribed to address a prolapse from the rectal side of my vagina. I was hesitant because of the amount of breast cancer on my dad's side of the family (daughters of his brothers). I was also warned about breast density on the report of my last mammogram. The doctor and intern basically blew off my concerns, saying it was a very mild medication. So, since then: I have this awful yellow discharge which I never had before; I am gaining weight and am very bloated; I now wake up at 3 am with massive headaches and a pounding heart; I cry easily now. None of those things bothered me before. I've been using 5 mg melatonin for sleep most nites and always had really good sleeps until I took this stuff. I am taking myself off of this."

Vagifem (estradiol) "I was prescribed 10mg pessaries for atrophic vaginitis. They worked quickly and well with no side effects. I found half the prescribed dose effective for me. However, four months later I have got bacterial vaginosis, which I first thought was just an increase in normal discharge. I am taking metronidazole for it."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "Someone replied to my first response that I need to wait 6 months. Well its been way over 2 years now, and I am still tearing and having that stinging feeling. I use 100% organic coconut oil for a lube, as my OBGYN said to try that too. I have no side effects from the coconut oil. I used both and then after "enduring" sex, I was left with a couple of tears that were bleeding and stinging. I am going to call her back and tell her I need extra strength. Even after the 1 mg amount, bathing the walls of my vagina, its still not enough. I am only 55, and did not think, this was going to be the end of me. My husband is 13 years older than me, and I am the one that has to turn him away because I am not healed enough to try again"

Imvexxy (estradiol) "A friend recently told me about Imvexxy . I received my order via pill pack 3 weeks ago. Packaging was exceptional. Hormone quality even better than premarin. Had to stop taking premarin cream last year due to complications from the product. One happy customer here. And would most certainly recommend imvexxy"

Imvexxy (estradiol) "I didn't notice much if any improvement after 4 months of 10 mcg twice a week, but I stopped it as I noticed a quarter sized bald spot on the front of my hair that wasn't there before I started taking it. In fact, I have thick hair otherwise, and now there is hair all around this bald spot but it is smooth in the middle with no hair growth! : I don't know if it is from this medication but it seems to coincide with taking it and I don't take any other medications. Now I am concerned I won't get hair to grow back there, or if more bald spots appear. I am 54, and no family history of balding, both my mom and father in their late 70s have a full head of hair with no balding."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Been using it for over a year, no problem at all, in fact excellent results. Got a bit worried this week when GP at routine check said there are no risks involved, that upset me, as I hadn't been aware in the first instance hence me looking on this site. Decided to use it every 5 days now to see if the effect remains the same, if so will then push it to every 6 days."

Vagifem (estradiol) "My doctor prescribed 10 mcg vagifem, then another doctor after hearing my complaints of leg cramp and other vague problems told me to stop using it. But there is nothing out there which works for me,Premarin cream is not for me,combipatch I gave up long ago,so 10 mcg vagifem seems to be my only option. all the other non hormone lubrications do not work. So if you are taking it,watch closely for side effects,10mcg is the lowest dosage,25 mcg is not allowed by FDA in USA."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Have been using vagifem pessaries for 12 days. Experienced headaches initially but these seem to have disappeared. I now have severe lower back pain like period pain which I haven’t had since my periods stopped 6 years ago. The pain is so severe I cannot bend down or lower my body. I also seem to have flu like symptoms and am incredibly thirsty. I bought this product as I cannot have sex without great discomfort and wanted to try it out. I have informed my gp as I wanted to be prescribed these pessaries if the outcome was good. On the plus side my vagina is plumper and becoming moist so lubrication is a lot better but unfortunately the lower back pain is intolerable. I think I maybe extremely sensitive to these pessaries even though they are a low dose, 10 mc. I will no longer continue using vagifem as I feel very debilitated. I wish there were some kind of alternative, one that doesn’t cause severe lower back and period pain."

Yuvafem (estradiol) "First used Vagifem and seemed to work okay. Then like others, was switched to Yuvafem. Started having extreme itching, so washed regularly and applied moisturizer. Then burning started too and nothing helped to get over itchy, burning, and then burnt skin. I stopped yuvafem when spotting started. Skin began to clear up after two weeks. Then I used one tablet and extreme itching and skin was burnt again. I began to have pain in my joints, so bad that I entered a emergency room. I went off Yuvafem and 5 days later could walk again. After only one tablet, joint pain and burnt skin returned. My doctor could not find anything. He suggested that I was allergic to Yuvafem. So today decided to check reviews and found that Yuvafem is a dangerous drug."

Yuvafem (estradiol) "Vagifem worked fine for years. Then insurance started sending Teva which was horrible. Applicator didn't work right and it was not effective, leaving me sore. Then insurance sent Uvafem. Applicators were better, but the medicine was not helping. In fact, everything was worse. I was sore all the time. Just recently my doctor prescribed brand only (Vagifem), but the insurance wouldn't release it until I used up the other. I argued with them and my doctor wouldn't get involved saying they had no ability to overrule the insurance company. Why does the insurance control our health?? Shouldn't the doctor's change in prescription be enough? Finally, a kindly pharmacist intervened and got me a prescription for Vagifem. I was so desperate I was willing to pay full price, but he was able to get it on my insurance. So glad to hear I am not alone, but wondering how we can get this changed. Insurance companies should not rule our health."
