Yuvafem (estradiol) "Update from my review dated November 7, 2018. I formally contacted the FDA in regards to what I felt was questionable efficacy of Yuvafem and its poor packaging (as compared to the brand-name Vagifem). The FDA contacted Amneal Pharmaceuticals and Amneal agreed to look into my complaint about Yuvafem's efficacy and its packaging. Amneal wanted me to provide them with the Yuvafem that I had leftover, which I did. It was to be sent back to them anonymously with just a brief history of my experience while on the medication. Since it was done anonymously, I won't have follow-up in regards to my complaint, but at least the FDA responded to it and contacted them. I hope this helps others who have noticed a difference after being changed to Yuvafem, or who were started on it initially and continue to have symptoms consistent with atrophic vaginitis. If you feel the drug is not therapeutically beneficial to you, please contact the FDA to let them know. It can be done online."

Vagifem (estradiol) "I have only been taking this for a few months, but notice a big difference. I suffered really bad pain during intercourse and this has improved the situation. I also think it has leveled out my menopausal moods. I will be staying on it. I am fortunate to live in Scotland where I do not pay for this medication directly; prescriptions are free."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Vagifem greatly helps me with my atrophic vaginitis. I was having extreme burning and pain. I only wish I did not have to take this the rest of my life like my doctor advised me. The medication sometimes gives me a slight headache."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Started perimenopause in my late 30s and suffered extreme vaginal dryness, burning, painful intercourse, chronic UTIs and both uterine and bladder prolapse by 40 years old. Had a partial hysterectomy and bladder lift at 40 but still suffered the extreme vaginal dryness, burning, frequent urination, etc. Vaginal moisturizers were useless. Dr. Rx'd Vagifem 3x a week and it's truly been a life saver! All these horrible symptoms are now gone. Have been using it for around 6 years now with zero side effects."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "The patches stopped working, so this was last on the list to try. Dr. gave me a sample to try. Not very effective and way overpriced. Will be trying compounded version. Wake up, drug companies, there are a lot of us baby boomers suffering from menopause who will not go quietly into the night. Especially when we're expected to keep working until 66."

Vagifem (estradiol) "Sex became extremely painful after menopause, so much so that penis insertion was impossible! I thought I was done. My gyno suggested this and gave me some samples. I had started seeing somebody I really liked so had 'the talk' about pain. I know some others have had this talk too. He said it wasn't a problem and meant it but I wanted to try. A month later, penetration was achieved with only a slight amount of discomfort! In fact, I was so surprised that it took me a moment to register that Yes, that IS what I'm feeling. So far, everything is fine. I will never be the way I was, but I'm very satisfied with this medication."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I'm 58 and recently started on this medicine. Almost immediate relief of vulvar dryness and pain. Not sure yet if the painful intercourse will be relieved but this looks optimistic to me after many months of intense pain. Medicine does not seem gooey or even noticeable when used. Really like it so far."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I am a 57-year-old female who started using Estrace for vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and almost immediately noticed falling hair. I asked my doctor who assured me that it would never cause hair loss. After 3 months, my hair was so thin that a rubber band no longer stays put. I quit Estrace almost 2 months ago, and the hair continues to fall."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I am 59 and postmenopausal. Started using the Estrace cream yesterday. I have other health issues (Lichen sclerosis) which are bothersome. The cream almost instantly increased my libido and relieved the dryness. I am prescribed 1/2 gram intravaginally once to twice weekly. I hope it continues to help my condition."

Yuvafem (estradiol) "Switched to this product and it was horrible. I thought could have sex again and it was painful and got an infection. I used this as prescribed. This product does not melt properly at all. This product should not be used as saw 3 doctors for UTI and the embarrassment of being accused it was my partner fault. It was not. It was product. No woman should have to go through this. Did not want this product, it is insurance trying to cut corners. It cost them more in long run due to the number of doctor visits and 3 rounds of antibotics and one emergency visit. Sex was painful and vagina dry after using.. gyno said tablets not melting.. Please get rid of this product"

Yuvafem (estradiol) "I don't understand all the negative comments. I have finished the two-week buildup phase and now starting on the twice-a week phase. No problem with the packaging. No problems with the pills falling out of the plunger. Pills do not "come out" the next day partially dissolved. No adverse effects from the medication. No problems at all. Even though my doctor said it would take about three months to reach maximum benefit, I already see an improvement. Great medication as far as I'm concerned."

Imvexxy (estradiol) "After the first dose, I felt a positive change and enjoyed careful intercourse. After the second dose, the discharge was significant and odorous. The day after the third dose and for the next three days, the itching and inflammation were unbearable. I would call the swelling an explosion. Time to try something else."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I'm a 41-year-old woman who went into early menopause two years ago. Vaginal dryness and all the other wonderful symptoms of menopause are not something that I would like to deal with at my age, but sometimes we can't control. So, my doctor prescribed Estrace, and I use 1mg 2x a week. I was told that it would take about 6-8 weeks before seeing a difference. At the end of that time frame, I saw only a slight difference in vaginal dryness but many side effects. I had headaches, dizziness, bloating, and calf pain."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I'm only giving Estrace Cream a 3 rating on the scale due to there being issues with the product. I have been using this product for a couple of years. It did help until the last few months. I went from using it 2-3 times a week to needing it every other day. My frustration comes from the amount that is actually in the tube. It says there are 42.5 grams in the tube, I always keep track of the amount in the tube and end up with about 24 grams out of the tube in the end. Has anyone else kept track of this? Also, I can't afford it; when I went yesterday to pick up a new tube, they wanted $290 for 1 tube?! Why would it be this expensive? That was even after my insurance paid a portion."

Vagifem (estradiol) "I am 57 yrs old and 3 weeks on low dose vagifem 10 mcg - gained 5 kg and experienced a hypertensive crisis 200/100 blood pressure at its worst. My BP was completely normal beforehand. Spoke to GP who took me off straight away - really rare side effect but can be found in the small print. 4 days later BP returned to normal, now 120/80. Watch your BP girls. On the up side, had sex with minimal pain which was fantastic but guess what, can't take the drug. Talk about depressive!"

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "Side effects of breakthrough bleeding and little relief from thin tissue do not warrant the cost. If over $300 with a co-pay of $75. This is price gouging for a cream that should cost no more than $20 at the very most -- and I'm being generous. Overpriced meds are out of control. I won't bother using Estrace anymore."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "Used as directed and not sure it did much, truthfully. I have been having bioidentical estrogen and testosterone implants, and that does seem to be very effective. Also, an OTC product called Luvena (Restorative Vaginal Moisturizer, pH balanced) is super effective and doesn't cause the stinging and breakthrough bleeding of Estrace. Luvena is significantly cheaper than the insanely overpriced Estrace ($300 or a $72 co-pay). Really, Estrace should cost about $15 and not the criminally high price it is. Bottom line: Not a fan of Estrace and certainly not worth the $72 co-pay for stinging and bleeding for me at ten years post-menopause."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "The last 2 times when I used Estrace cream, I had bad burning and felt like I had a UTI. Out of desperation, I decided to try a vaginal yeast infection cream w/applicator to see if it made a difference. It did, both times!! Within hours, the symptoms decreased. By the next day, no further issues. Had no idea others had burning from the Estrace cream until I got on this site. May check out getting it compounded. I wonder why after years of using the Estrace (brand name), did this start all of the sudden. Have the ingredients changed??"

Yuvafem (estradiol) "I was a regular user of Vagifem and was very pleased with the results. It made sex comfortable again. I saw there was a generic available and tried it to try to save some money. This product is terrible. Everything about it is ten notches below Vagifem. You can't separate the foil packages. The applicator is sharp on the end. One of my doses was empty, and I pay $15 each. The pill does not dissolve inside you. When showering the next day, I find the tablet just sitting up there undissolved. My vaginal dryness is back to where it was before beginning Vagifem. I am a 62-year-old woman with an active sex life; my insurance will no longer pay for the brand. I wish they would have more time before releasing. I hate everything about it."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "Doc gave me samples of Estrace cream 2 weeks ago. I use 2x per week for dryness and help restore thinning vaginal lining (prolapse problems). Noticed right away more hair loss the day after I use it. I was told this would not affect me in any way and only work locally in the vagina. I can't afford to lose more hair. I'm going to watch it and try a couple more times and if I notice hair loss continues, I'll stop. I also use an all-natural menopause cream (just started last month) has estrogen and progesterone from all-natural sources. It seemed to be helping hair loss and all-around symptoms. My first time on hormone treatment after my total hysterectomy seven years ago."

Estring (estradiol) "I LOVE this thing! That was not the case the first week, I really considered removing it because it was very uncomfortable. I hung in there and by the 2nd week, I couldn't even feel it. All of my horrible symptoms of estrogen deficiency were gone by week two. No more pain, constant urination urge and generally feeling awful. I feel like my normal self again. And, sex with my husband is no longer miserable! Yes, I have concerns about all the warnings on the packaging and the website but I just needed to have some relief and this has provided it. My female gyno highly recommends it for me and I trust her. My co-pay with the coupon was only $20.00."

Estrace Vaginal Cream (estradiol) "I’ve only been on estrace for a week, my symptoms? Hot flashes day and night, mood swings, I’d go up to the bedrooms and feel my heart palpitating, low energy, have a hard time getting up in the morning, no interest in anything. This cream is heaven sent, I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks, have faith that it can only get better. I feel like a human being. I was honestly feeling like I was losing whom I am. I’ll keep you guys posted..."

Within a few days of using Vagifem l sank into deep depression, and by about 6 days l was almost suicidal! PLEASE, if you take antidepressants (I take Efexor xr), consider carefully using this product. It is an uncommon but serious side-effect for some!"

Estring (estradiol) "I am 52 years old, menopausal, and I have been using Estring for about 6 months now and LOVE it. I had severe vaginal dryness and itching. I love sex, but it was painful and I would often bleed during and after. Within 2 weeks of using the Estring all my symptoms disappeared!!!! Such a huge relief. The ring looks giant when you take it out of the package and you may worry about making it fit. I had no problems inserting it and couldn’t feel it. I can’t remove it myself, so have to enlist the help of my husband. It is worth every penny. If you are on the fence - TRY IT."
