For Migraine Prevention "31 years old female. Took this for 6 months. Migraines were far fewer and less intense, however, the side effects were absolutely not worth it! Severe constipation, agitation, dizziness, fatigue, feeling like I had a full-blown flu with soreness everywhere, extreme hair loss!!! Heart pain, elevated heart rate, extreme shortness of breath, could hardly walk up a single flight of stairs, brain fog, vertigo. Aimovig was the only change in any medications. I even kept my diet and exercise routine the same during the trial. This is not worth the side effects. Also, who knows about the long-term effects?"

For Migraine Prevention "After 33 years of chronic intractable migraine, this medication is a big hope for me. First 70 mg injection on Sept. 11, easy enough, but have to say my headaches have been worse up until this week (Sept 27) when I'm seeing some of the promised relief, along with other unpleasant effects, which I'm guessing are side effects. Dizziness, mood issues, some shortness of breath, and definite nausea and diarrhea. Blood pressure is higher, mine is typically very low. Also experiencing insomnia. It's hard to get to sleep and stay asleep. Curious about what others may find similar in their experience? It's too soon to say on relief, only two days I've seen a difference."

For Migraine Prevention "I started taking Aimovig 70 mg in July 2018 and continued until May 2019. I believe it has reduced my migraine episodes to fewer migraine days, but it also has numerous side effects that have not been reported. I believe this medication has caused me to have significant cognitive dysfunction/impairment, along with significant fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness, brain fog, confusion, loss of appetite, depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, neck, and shoulder pain. I feel as if I’m in a constant dream-like, more like nightmare-like state all the time. I will see my neurologist soon, but I cannot continue to take this medication. I pray it has not caused permanent damage. I’m happy for those of you who have had success, but I caution you to be aware of your symptoms. At first, I thought this was a lifesaver. Now I’m wondering if I’ll make it through to the next day. Consult your doctors as soon as possible should you experience anything similar or FDA. They all need to hear from us."

For Migraine Prevention "The initial monthly 70 mg injections gave me relief. I went from daily migraines to weekly, to occasional within a couple of months. But by the 3rd injection, I began feeling off. It wasn't until this week, and I'd already taken my 9th injection, that we were able to figure out why. The constipation, bowel blockage, bloating, burning pain in my back, confusion, deep, horrible depression, dark thoughts, almost acting on dark thoughts more than once, stomach pains, vertigo, chills, night sweats, fatigue, joint pain, muscle aches, numbness in my face, headaches, sinus infections, high liver tests, being sent to an oncologist because my doctor thought I might have cancer, EGD, colonoscopy, MRIs, CTs, MRCP, X-rays, etc., are not worth the relief. This drug needs more research. We spent thousands of dollars thinking something else was wrong only to circle back to Aimovig. I couldn't believe there are several patients whose symptoms mirror mine on this site as well. Ugh."

For Migraine Prevention "I just had Aimovig on 2/12/20 and didn’t notice much until a few days ago when I realized I had not had my usual two bowel movements each day. Then I noticed I was very gassy and felt an extreme urge to pee. The migraine started as a much broader area and much, much, much more intense, sharp, unbearable pain. I’ve had migraines since I was 10, I’m 33, female. I’ve used Zomig, Fiorinal, sumatriptans, tramadol, Zofran, Phenergan, and nothing is even touching the pain. I’ve struggled with chronic yeast infections in the past but have had them managed and now have terrible flares again. I’m very dizzy, especially when I lay down. My heart races to 220. I cannot sleep, though I’m very fatigued. I’m afraid I’ll have to go to the hospital, which insurance won’t cover. After only one week, I can’t bear it. Reading these stories is horrid, and being told there are no side effects just makes me want to scream."

For Migraine Prevention "I’m 35 years old. I have taken only 1 Aimovig shot so far of the 70 mg dose. It worked slightly to reduce the number of migraines, but I have to deal with side effects of loss of balance, pain in the ears, constant pressure in the ears, feeling that I will fall at any given moment, loss of energy, chest tightness, chest pain, and feeling of nausea is also terrible. A couple of times I felt like I was going to die from the side effects this has caused. No more Aimovig for me. I will stick with my pills. I just wish this would flush out of my system quickly so I don’t have to deal with all these extra and scary side effects. Aimovig needs more research in my opinion."

For Migraine Prevention "I thought Aimovig was going to be amazing! I had tried so many other medicines. This was my last-ditch attempt. Injection was fine, but a week after, I started getting carsick every time I drove, then when I stayed on my computer too long, then when I was working, or watching my kids move. IT WAS AWFUL. I am taking Zofran daily to prevent the dizziness. I cannot wait for this drug to leave my system. Not to mention the hair loss. I do not even want to brush my hair anymore, the loss is so extreme. I take no other medications that would cause this. This has been my only change in medicine, and the dizziness is the WORST. Please consider reading these posts before you commit to the Rx (learn from my mistake)."

For Migraine Prevention "I’ve been on this medication less than a week. I take no other supplements or drugs other than a blood pressure medication for mild hypertension. I am a 54 yr old female in excellent health but have 12-16 migraines per month. I’m a TBI survivor. Even with Miralax and laxatives, I am having bowel problems, major stomach cramping, horrible bloating. I look 3 months pregnant. I’m nauseous, have vertigo, and my head is very fuzzy. I saw a neurologist for the first time last week, and he immediately placed me on the 140 mg dosage. My head hurts and is unlike a typical migraine for me. I’m dreading the next 3.5 weeks and will not inject a second time. All other trials of migraine preventers failed or had little efficacy. I would not recommend this medication to an acute or chronic migraineur. Side effects are a nightmare. I’ll take the migraines versus what this feels like. I’ve dealt with those for 24 years! THIS DRUG NEEDS MORE RESEARCH AND OBVIOUS IMPROVEMENT!"

For Migraine Prevention "I took Aimovig for the first time 3 weeks ago. My doc first tried Emgality. He wanted to try the different types of injectables. I also take Zolmitriptan and Sumatriptan. The side effects are horrible. My doc put me on LOA (Leave of Absence) as a result. I have heart palpitations and what seems like a panic attack without the panic. My heart rate will jump for no reason, and I will feel dizzy, tremors... everything but the panic. So bizarre. My head feels foggy, and I can't concentrate. Heavy chest/difficulty breathing. Going to bed at 7:30 because of exhaustion. I feel barely alive. FYI. Chronic migraine sufferer for 15 years. 18 to 15 days per month I have migraines. I have tried most meds, acupuncture, Botox, even medical cannabis. This is NOT the medication for me."

For Migraine Prevention "2nd dose. The first dose I wasn’t sure if it was a relapse of my MS that was making me dizzy, fatigue, short of breath, heart palpitations, space out, and my gut was giving me a little trouble. I’m usually constipated, so it was a change. I didn’t refill the medication until my headaches got unbearable, and I finally bent and retried the Aimovig to see if it was the medication or a flare I was going through. It was definitely the Aimovig. This time, the side effects were much worse. My stomach feels like it’s gnawing on itself, and my brain symptoms are magnified x100. If you have neurological issues, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’m going to have to file a complaint with the FDA."

For Migraine Prevention "I am so sad I didn’t read these reviews before taking my 2nd shot. After the first, I felt miserable for about 3 weeks. I felt nauseous, dizziness, fatigue, muscle weakness, upset stomach, foggy headed, couldn't focus or follow a conversation, panic attacks, and depression for the first time in my entire life. It subsided, and I was blaming how I was feeling on a different med. I felt better after three weeks from my first injection, at 1 month, I took my second. The next day, EVERYTHING came back! I’m so, so upset. It absolutely took my migraines away, but I would gladly take a migraine over this feeling. I feel like we are all lab rats they’re testing this out on."

For Migraine Prevention "I am a 79-year-old female who has suffered from migraine headaches for over 35 years and tried everything that neurologists had to offer. One month ago, a neurologist suggested Aimovig and gave me a 140 mg sample. I took the injection the next day; two days later, my blood pressure zoomed to 201/110. I was ambulanced to an ER and treated. After multiple urgent care and doctor visits for help, I remain non-functional. I continue to suffer from debilitating migraines, constipation, nausea, vertigo, hypersensitivity, fatigue, etc. I called the national Amgen number for help and learned that Aimovig would be at its lowest in my system in 5 1/2 months. When asked when it would be out of my system altogether, the response was that that factor was unknown. How frightening! Why hasn't the FDA pulled Aimovig off the market? All Aimovig sufferers should form a class action lawsuit against this life-threatening drug. Count me a charter member!"

For Migraine Prevention "I had a headache, and my doctor gave me the shot, and it subsided after the shot. But immediately I had nausea. Then I felt like I was on an elevator. Two weeks after the shot, and I have had severe side effects from this medicine. I ended up in the hospital, where they tested me for everything to make sure it wasn’t something else. The doctor told me that it was the Aimovig that was causing my debilitating side effects. Here are the side effects I have dealt with: nausea and vomiting, severe fatigue and drowsiness, brain fog and concentration issues, headaches, tremors and hands shaking, chest pain, but might be related to muscle spasms, extreme exhaustion, I can barely get out of bed. I have been having trouble breathing and just getting a full breath. I normally exercise every day, but can barely get through any routine with these side effects. I have severe vertigo that won’t let up. I also have a bloated stomach that makes it hard to eat sometimes. I also have joint pain."

For Migraine Prevention "I received the first Aimovig injection 10 days ago. Within the first week, I had fatigue and chest pains, which turned into palpitations. I got 3 eye styes in the matter of a week, which is very bizarre. I also ended up having multiple mouth ulcers 3 days ago. Yesterday, I started to experience vertigo, which I've never had in my life. I have not had a migraine, though. However, these side effects aren't listed, and yet they happened. I've read many people end up having side effects that get much worse by the second dose, and I'm just not willing to take that risk. I called Amgen, reported the side effects, which they will report to the FDA. This medication is pretty new to the market, so remember that when trying it. There may be other possible side effects that you are not expecting. I think if your migraines are bad enough, then I would at least give Aimovig a chance because everyone is different, but be aware of unexpected side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "I started Aimovig in October 2019. December 2019 was my last dose for a few reasons. First off, my migraine days per month subsided significantly. I'm 38 years old and have had migraines since at least age 12. I get Botox and have my headache days cut from 25 to roughly 12. By December, on Aimovig, I was down to two headaches. I could not recall what it was like to have head pain under control. Side effects were too much and too concerning. In December, immediately following my last injection, I started getting severely dizzy, disoriented, and detached. I couldn't focus. It lasted for hours. Looking back, each month I had these types of effects, but less severe. The constipation became so severe with no relief. I have anxiety and panic attacks, but after the first month's injection, they were so severe. My normally low BP also spiked. My chest hurt often. It's almost like a tease to have the migraine pain more tolerable, but then the rest of your body falls apart."

For Migraine Prevention "I've been a migraine sufferer since I was 8-10 years old (now 33). I've been on multiple medications since. I tried Aimovig on September 17, 2019. Since then, I have felt like my body is shutting down. I can't be vertical for more than an hour or so without feeling dizzy and nauseated. My migraines have been so intense I've had to go to both the ER and the walk-in clinic to get a 'migraine cocktail' of Toradol/Benedryl/anti-nausea med. My heart rate has been in the 100s+ even sitting down/resting. I've been laying in bed and sleeping the past 4 days. I haven't actively been able to go to work in nearly 2 weeks. My body feels super heavy and I have extreme confusion/brain fog. I've reached out to Aimovig to see if this is a true reaction, to which they say it's not what's been documented. They documented my case, but clearly these are common reactions based on these reviews. I'm not entirely sure this isn't a reaction either, as I take other medications for migraine as well."

For Migraine Prevention "I got this medication, Aimovig, on August 9th, 2019, after I had a CT scan and an MRI, and the only thing they found was on my left side some white area that is linked to migraines. So I can say that it did stop the migraines, but the fatigue, muscle ache, and constant vertigo were not worth it! Worst of all, YOUR HAIR WILL FALL! If I was allowed to post photos here, I would show you in August I started losing it, September even more, October, and November I lost so much hair I became very depressed and it's slowed down by December and January of 2020. It's still going, but not as bad. The problem with this medication is that it stopped a lot of blood flow to the scalp so it started falling, and when I say my hair was falling, it was falling by the roots! A lot of research has to be done about this medication. Yes, it works, but the side effects are way too much, they need to work on it a little more."

For Migraine Prevention "Started noticing drastic reduction in migraine days after the second Aimovig shot (went from having 20+ a month to 1-2), but it had such horrible side effects that I had to get off the drug. I was dizzy and tired all the time, not to mention bowel movement changes everyone is talking about. I developed shingles after 2 months of being on this drug and started having unexplained vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding isn't listed anywhere on the side effects for Aimovig, but it is the only medication I've added recently. My OBGYN performed an ultrasound and blood check for hormone imbalance, but everything checked normal. I have been off of Aimovig for 3 months now, and my migraines are coming back. Other than taking medication for high blood pressure, I am a healthy woman. I saw that it takes 5 months for this medication to be flushed out of your system. I don't know how I'm going to last another 2 months."

For Migraine Prevention "I had my first Aimovig injection 6 days ago. The injection itself was not unpleasant, however, within two hours of having received Aimovig, I had extreme dizziness, excruciating chest pain, shortness of breath, hives on my face, rash on my stomach, mouth ulcers, body aches and pains, joint pains, stomach cramps, and leg cramps. Not to mention I have had a migraine since the day of the Aimovig. These side effects have not dissipated in 6 days. Hoping they do soon. I will not be trying the medication in the future. The FDA needs to be made aware of all side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "I received my first dose of Aimovig and had the worst migraine ever, which ended me up in the ER. After the injection that my doctor gave me, I was dizzy for a day, and then the migraine came. Now I have pain in my temples, I'm very dizzy, and my legs feel weak. I never had symptoms like this before. I am so upset that the doctor told me the side effects were leg cramps and constipation. I will NEVER go back to this doctor again, as I feel she misled me. I would have never taken this injection if I saw this site before my visit with the doctor. The dizziness is crazy, and I've had to take a lot of time off from work."

For Migraine Prevention "I only had two doses and am discontinuing Aimovig. I started feeling fatigue, nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, blurred vision, increased anxiety, heart palpitations, shakiness in chest, eye pressure/pain, and a crazy upper respiratory infection/sinusitis with fever started. I am on the second round of antibiotics, and that's finally clearing up. There is no other explanation for all these side effects to come on all at once. I was told by my neurologist that the ONLY side effect was constipation, which can be an issue since I take a double dose of iron daily for anemia-I didn’t notice that getting any worse. Go figure. After doing my own research and finding that so many other people were reporting these same side effects, I decided to stop. My migraines are hormonal but can be triggered by stress. Since my stress level is way down, I was only getting one or two migraines per month. Now, like so many others, I’m waiting for this scary new drug to be out of my system!"

For Migraine Prevention "24 hours after a 70mg injection I have severe nausea, dizziness, and headache. I feel terrible like I have the flu. I hope this doesn’t last the entire month. Wish I knew how to get this drug out of my system. Will NOT be trying another shot. And their website lists none of these side effects! Based on others’ reviews, I am not the only one feeling like death. Awful drug."
