Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I'm 32 and never took any birth control pills. I was on the fence taking Yaz due to negative responses. I love this birth control and glad I took it. I only experienced light bleeding during the 1st month of taking pill. When I finished the 1st pack the bleeding stopped. I noticed I was emotional when I took the first placebo pill but when I took the 2nd I was back to normal. My doctor put me on the pill due to irregular periods and when they came on they would be extremely heavy. I missed work some days due to this. Well when I got my period with taking Yaz it came on when taking the placebo pills and was light, NO CRAMPS, very short. My skin looks great, I wake up happy as can be, no emotional issues, sex drive up."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I have been taking Yasmin for 8 years (with a 10 month break after 5 years). I stopped to have a baby, pregnant within the first month off the pill and back on it right after birth. This pill has been great! Clear skin, no weight gain or side effects. I think people starting any pill will have a rough beginning but give it a chance. All body types are different so nothing works for everyone.... But this worked great for me."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I was super terrified to try yasmin, but I wanted to try it for my hormonal acne. Yasmin has really helped (so far), my face has been gradually clearing up during the past 3 weeks and my painful cysts are flattening. My skin is whiter too - less red and blotchy. So happy about that! I lost about 5 kilos in 3 days. I wore one pair of pants one day that were tight and had to change them at the end of the day because my thighs and stomach had so noticeably shrunk. It was like I took some kind of shrinking potion! I kept my chest though :) I love yasmin so far. I have more energy, less hair fall, better skin, no emotional flairs, and it's helped with the insomnia that I got after my friend died. I sleep like a baby now. I was slightly nauseous for the first 2 days."

Gianvi (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I've been on many birth controls trying to find the right one for me. I was on Apri a couple years ago which gave me very bad anxiety so after that I switched to Tri-Sprintec. This pill didn't cause any anxiety but my skin broke out so terribly on it! My third and final switch was to "Yaz", at the pharmacy I was handed the generic Gianvi. I spent hours reading reviews and was a little nervous to start taking these pills but they have been great. My skin has completely cleared up, I never break out at all anymore. I had no mood changes or anxiety, nor weight gain. This pill is sensitive with regards to breakthrough bleeding, if just one pill is missed you can expect spotting the next day. Otherwise an AWESOME pill! Highly recommend!"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I remember reading all kinds of mixed reviews before starting this pill and was kind of worried. I have taken many brands of birth control pills in the past but I always experienced spotting and I was fed up. My doctor put me on Yaz, and it changed my entire life… for the worst. Although the spotting and the physical side effects went away, the negative change it had on my mood and my personality was awful. I suffered from anxiety and depression my entire life but it was always manageable. After starting the pill, I experienced SEVERE anxiety and depression. My mood was always bad, I was always upset and anxious, I would have random outbursts over absolutely nothing. I was an emotional wreck, and I couldn’t control myself at all. I’ve been off of it for 6 days now, and I’m back to my normal self again."

Nikki (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Personally it gave me HUGE AMOUNTS OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION. Before starting the pill I was a super happy “normal” person. After taking this birth control it was like my daily life was a struggle with anxiety and I was lucky to have a day without any symptoms. Absolutely horrible experience for me. I was taking it to control my PMS and severe cramping I get during my period and it did an amazing job with that but not worth the anxiety."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Been on Yasmin for 6 months now after years on all other brands under the sun. I have always been fit and healthy but for some reason on this pill and I even thinner. I can't gain weight no matter how bad I eat it's amazing ! The only down side is I am so hungry a lot of the time but it's awesome because it doesn't lead to any weight gain so I can eat as much as I want ! Also no cramps at all and I used to get them bad. Limited headaches. Finally after 12 years if found something that works super well for me"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "BEST BIRTH CONTROL EVER. Curbs my appetite so much. I went off Yaz for 2 months and actually gained weight and was hungry 24/7. I have no negative side effects at all, and I never feel hungry. I have so much energy and my mood is more stable. Yaz is perfect for me."

Syeda (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Until I had to move back home from university because of COVID I had been using Ocella which had been alright for me. My boobs swelled and it is possible I had weight gain but I had just gotten off the IUD which messed me up bad. But when I came home no where had Ocella so my pharmacy gave me Syeda. I have type 2 bipolar disorder mixed with anxiety symptoms and taking Syeda for two weeks sent me spinning. My anxiety and hypomania have been awful, some of the worst I’ve had in a long time. It was not like this with Ocella and I don’t know why the pharmacies in my hometown are not allowed to provide it but I will not be taking Syeda again and would hesitate to recommend it to anyone."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I've only been on this for a few days so I don't have much to say about it but all I can say I suffer from depression and anxiety and was on another brand of birth control and felt so so depressed it made it so much worse, my gyno switched me to this one and in the matter of only 3 days of taking it. I can say I feel happier than I normally did without any type of bc. My bloating also stopped after switching to this one, other one I was taking I just felt heavy, depressed, tired. Only thing that's I've noticed about this one so far is my breast are a little bigger, but I cant complain about that because I love that! "

Nikki (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Nikki is HORRIBLE. It gave me SEVERE depression and if I hadn’t figured out that Nikki was the thing causing my depression I might have been the end of me. I’m not kidding. This brand of birth control is absolutely horrible and I beg of you not to use it. Please, please please take the time and money to get the right medication for you. Do not use this terrible brand just because it’s cheap. I know that’s easier said than done but please put your mental health first because it is so extremely important."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I’m almost 35 and I have been on several different birth controls since I was 16. Yaz was my favorite but I recently switched to Yasmin. I worried my skin would break out because the FDA didn’t approve Yasmin for acne like Yaz is. My skin has continued to stay clear and I personally haven’t had any issues with Yasmin."

Syeda (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Personally, I took Syeda for PCOS which is a generation four birth control meant for people with abnormal hormonal issues such as an excess of hair or testosterone. Because of this, it is NOT recommended to take as a normal birth control option because it is less studied and has a different form of progestin than other birth controls. Syeda is a generic form of Ocella, Yaz, and Yasmin which all are generation four as well. It should not be your first option of birth control. Personally for me this has helped my PCOS hair growth tremendously and has resulted in no side effects or weight gain. Everyone is different but I can see this easily harming those who do not have hormonal abnormalities if they were to take this."

Ocella (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I was prescribed to this birth control but after reading the awful reviews, I was seriously considering going back to the doctor to ask for another. I decided to give it a try and I've had absolutely no side effects. This is my first time taking birth control and it really worked perfect for me. I usually have a lot of acne and that has cleared up a lot already, which is a big plus!! Don't be discouraged with the other reviews, it might work for you too!"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I've been on this pill for the past ten years and I love it. I've never had a menstrual cramp in my life, I never feel PMS symptoms (bloating, cravings, moodiness, etc). It has been helpful with acne. One downside is my sex drive has diminished but it's hard to tell if the pill is the culprit as I've been on it ten years. No weight gain from this either!"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I reccently started the Yasmin pill and at first I honestly didn't think I would be able to carry on with it because it was making me feel so nauseous! I also got really bad headaches which caused me to be really moody. However, my doctor told me to give it a few weeks to settle and for my system to get used to it. I was not happy about this let me say! I wanted to scream at her to feel how ill I felt. It got better though on the fifth day I woke up and I felt fine all of a sudden, all of the side effects I was feeling had just gone. I had terrible skin and it has make my skin so much better and I feel fine now. If you're taking it and you're feeling ill like I did - I know it feels like crap but honestly just hold on cause it will go."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "The best pill you can go on if you need to lose weight and clear up your skin! Before taking Yasmin my skin was terrible, I broke out like crazy and it was a real struggle to lose weight. Within the first 2-3 months of Yasmin my skin was beautiful and clear, and within 6 months the amount of weight I lost was crazy! At least 10 kilos lighter (along with a decent diet). The only con about Yasmin is I did get a little depressed and anxious so I decided to get off the pill, a month or two after the pill I started breaking out and I gained weight. That's why I know Yasmin helps with acne and weight loss! It's literally your best friend. I've decided to go back on the pill, can't wait to look thinner and have beautiful skin!"

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I have been taking Yasmin for 9 months and I can say that it had protected me effectively against pregnancy. I have read about some negative effects that have been linked to this pill. However, I decided to take it because my mother took it for years without experiencing any side effects. During my first cycle taking the pill, I experienced mild nausea and upset stomach occasionally. However, the symptoms were gone by the time I started my second pack. I have not noticed any changes in my weight or in my mood. I have frequent muscle cramps in my legs, but I am not sure that this is being caused by the pill."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I've got into a serious relationship this past year and I opted to get birth control. I have had the Xulane birth control patches and the generic Yaz, Gianvi. Xulane gave me every side effect possible- mood swings, nausea, and headache, and Gianvi made me have mood swings. I asked my pharmacist to give me the non generic version and I finally got YAZ. I've had zero side effects, no mood swings, no weight gain, and GLOWING SKIN! If you're hesitant to try because of previous bad reviews, give it a shot! I am the person who has every possible bad side effect of every drug and I highly recommend it!"

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "I am at month 7 of taking Yaz and I've never been more anxious and depressed of my entire life (I'm 21). I've never got so many panic attacks and mood swings in a year. I had so many health problem this year and I've been to the hospital so many times. Those things never happened to me before. The reason why I started this pill was to avoid pregnancy. Well, it worked, but my anxiety made me feel paranoid always about being pregnant because I was bloated all the time and my periods were always changing. My anxiety made me lose too much weight and caused acid reflux which left me with persistent nausea for months and I got a lot of migraines which recently began to be aura migraines. My mom said that I was not the same person anymore. My boyfriend is sad to see me like this and I don't really see my friends anymore because of my social anxiety. I'm getting off this pill tonight. Don't ever use it, it's ruining lives."

Yasmin (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Was on Yasmin for 6 years and for the first few years, everything was fine. No side effects at all. Until recently when I started getting low moods, severe anxiety, IBS, and then ended up in A&E with severe abdominal pain which turned out to be gallstones, all of which were attributed to this pill. So, cons: • Anxiety • Depression • Gallstones • IBS Pros: • Didn't get pregnant • Clear skin • Regular periods Did the pros worth the cons? Absolutely not."

Syeda (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "This is the absolute worst birth control! I was taking the name brand Yazmin for years and I never had any issues with it. I moved and the the pharmacist gave me the generic brand Syeda. I didn’t have any issues with it until 2 months in. I started experiencing the WORST anxiety and panic attacks, spotting, and the worst cramps. I have never had any of these issues before nor did I ever have anxiety or panic attacks until I started taking this. Do yourself a favor a steer clear of Syeda."

Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "Was prescribed YAZ to regulate my period and control acne. From day one I turned into a different person - crazy mood swings, fits of anger and rage that had me so mad at my boyfriend extreme depression that left me crying all night, no energy, and I had anxiety attacks that basically paralyzed me on the floor unable to open up hands. So basically, the worst 18 days of my life. Cold turkey stop, despite the dr telling me to finish the pack. Sorry, I value my sanity, job and relationship way too much. Only positive - cleared up my hormonal acne. Not even close to worth it."

Nikki (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) "DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU WERE SWITCHED FROM GIANVI. I was on Gianvi for a year and had no issues at all and my pharmacy switched me to Nikki last month... since I switched I have bloated, felt depressed and have acne (and I have never had more than two zits in my entire life). Do not let your pharmacy switch you to Nikki! I am going to try non generic Yaz and see how that goes. I do not usually write reviews but these last few weeks on it have been miserable!"
