For Anxiety "This drug has been a lifesaver for me. I had tried everything for generalized anxiety disorder... all the benzos, anti-depressants, etc. I am a vet. lol. With that said, I am not a fan of pharmaceuticals in general, as they have always done more harm than good for me. However, upon taking clonidine for the first time, I felt relief. I finally felt what it was like to NOT have anxiety for the first time in years. I highly recommend this drug to anyone who has suffered from anxiety for too long!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "Wow, never thought I would be typing this. I am on day one taking Clonidine and hoping. Please pray for me. I just want to go back to my normal self. I clean homes for a living. Does anyone know how long before I will have enough energy to go back to cleaning homes? I hate that I got myself here. I have a very bad back and have been taking 100mg of oxycodone for at least a year and a half. I'm ready, just want to know it gets better. I forget and miss the normal me. Thanks everyone and God bless."

For Anxiety "I have been on clonidine for a year. At first, it made me sleepy, but after about 6 weeks, my only side effect was dry mouth, and I have to eat when I take clonidine. It has helped lower my blood pressure and my anxiety. Very happy with it."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I definitely would give this for heroin or sub withdrawal. I had been on a 12-year binge with opiates and I can finally say I'm done with the whole lifestyle; nothing changes or gets better when you're using. Even though I was able to really be functional addicted, I'm done using. All the money I've spent to stay well and just to make it to the next day. I'm done being left in despair. I don't need drugs to be normal. It's just a way of killing yourself in many ways. Get help, do whatever you got to do, to finally stay clean. Never give up."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I took clonidine 25 micrograms, 2 tablets, 3 times a day 2 years ago and they worked so well that I stopped taking them, thinking all was okay. I have just recently started taking them again because the flushes and hot sweats came back with a vengeance 7 months ago and I was suffering. I am currently up to 3 tablets, 25 micrograms, 3 times a day. After 3 weeks, the flushes and sweating are finally starting to calm down. They worked for me before so I know they will work again; anyone taking clonidine should not stop taking them. If you do want to stop, you have to reduce the dose back down the same as you would increase it. Good luck, everyone. The struggle is real."

For High Blood Pressure "Had high blood pressure and felt really scattered, hard to focus, couldn't meditate, anxiety, when trying to go to sleep at night, heart would beat really fast then skip a beat or two a few times, then would slow down, but heart rate was higher than it is now that I'm on clonidine. It has helped me to focus, to calm down, to meditate, just altogether my energy is much more positive and upbeat and happy. Everyone is different and responds differently to medication, but 0.1 mg of clonidine has for me made such a huge difference in my physiological and mental health, it seems like a miracle drug to me. Thank God my doctor put me on it."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Reading some of the other reviews, some people rate this as a 7 or 8 because it doesn't take away all their withdrawals or restless legs syndrome, etc. Well, we all must have the realization that we must pay the Piper someday. Mine was 2 days ago. After at least months and possibly years, I was taking Norco/hydrocodone and kept it somewhat in check at about 60mg a day. One major reason I kept taking Norco was because of my newly found Restless Leg Syndrome that I knew was from pain medicines. I must tell you, it feels like my fears are gone. You can't have your cake and eat it too, but this is damn close for getting rid of a lot of withdrawal symptoms. Not sure if I recommend taking during the day though as I'm quite sleepy."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Was on oxycodone 10 mg for a year. Am now 72 hours clean from it. Started taking clonidine at the first hour. Took 0.2 mg every 5 hours for the first 48 hours. Dropped back to 0.1 mg every 6 hours up until now. I have had zero withdrawal symptoms but I still have problems sleeping. The only downside is that it makes me very weak. I can barely walk. I would take being weak over the nasty withdrawal symptoms any day. I am 61 years old and I was hooked on various opiates back in '80s, went through many detox units and I never had an easier 72 hours than this time. I would recommend it to anyone."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was on 100 mg of fentanyl with hydrocodone 10 mg on top of that. I tried to quit cold turkey before, but it was the worst experience of my life. I was given some clonidine from a friend. I took 0.1 mg of clonidine at night with gabapentin for my nerve pain in my arm. Sometimes I also took 0.25 mg of Xanax. I'm on day four. The ONLY problems I have experienced are a little cramping, slight nerve pain (IF I went past the time I should've taken another dose of clonidine), and I'm very tired and weak. I can hardly get up to do anything. I have zero cravings for opiates. Clonidine DEFINITELY works! Now, how do I get my energy back?"

For Anxiety "I have PTSD and have suffered from depression and anxiety my entire life, I was prescribed xanax, clonazepam, and ambien and took that for 30 years, just 4 months ago and I got sober off the benzos, and along with duloxetine 120mg daily. Clonidine has worked great. It helps me sleep and reduce my anxiety 100% oh and by the way, it works great with methadone. "

For High Blood Pressure "Clonidine works very well in controlling blood pressure, but if you already suffer from slow-moving bowels, this medication makes it infinitely worse if you are taking more than 0.1mg. I finally had to switch medications due to chronic constipation on the drug. Side effects list that as an issue - my doctor said no, it doesn’t cause that. Well, it does."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have a long history of severe opioid addiction. My drug of choice was IV hydromorphone. I struggled with cravings when clean for years. In Feb this year, I found a study which suggested that clonidine could be used as long-term therapy for stress-induced cravings in cocaine addicts. I asked my doc to try this on me, and he did. I am on 0.1-0.3 mg, 4 times a day. Have been for almost 10 months. Careful about low blood pressure at first. The first dose I took immediately eliminated my cravings, which I found incredible to believe. Not only did I not crave, but I did not care. 2 months later, also using the patch, I quit smoking. I don't crave cigarettes either, even around smokers. Highly recommended."

For Opiate Withdrawal "This is my second attempt at withdrawing. My first attempt was back in February of 2016 from hydromorphone tabs 1mg x 16 a day. I went cold turkey and had no help except I used a bit of information from the Thomas recipe. It was a bit helpful, but my experience was horrific for a solid week. I started taking OxyContin 5/325mg a couple of months later because I couldn't take the pain, and now I'm up to 10 a day and in a mess again. I went to the ER and asked for help with detoxing. They gave me clonidine and lorazepam, and I have to say I'm starting day two of the withdrawal, and I'm not feeling totally myself, but there are less sweats and chills. The anxiety is almost nil. It's really helped me. I am even able to talk to people without any anxiety."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have been an opiate addict since I was 18, and I am now 31. While having gone through opiate withdrawal at least once, the clonidine is and has been the only thing that makes my symptoms practically nonexistent. I can firmly, without any hesitation, say it works. I was very skeptical, but it proved me so wrong. I am now on my 5th day into withdrawing and haven't had cold sweats, nausea, loss of appetite, nor any other symptoms. I can say this is going to be the beginning of a sober life, so if you're scared to go through withdrawal, just see a doctor and ask for it because it works almost 100%."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "Started 2 weeks ago, love this, no more hot flashes. I was having 20-40 a day, they were terrible. It took a few days to get over feeling a little tired and dizziness but now I'm fine. I'm 57 and have suffered for several years with horrible hot flashes, insomnia and etc. I thank my new ob-gyn, the difference in me is amazing."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Been on opiates, benzos, alcohol and just about anything I could get my hands on. I'm going into detox very soon and Dr. prescribed clonidine. Though not a magical cure-all, it does take the edge off. Worth a try for sure. Especially for first-time detoxers. This is coming from a 25-year addict. At first, they will just throw more narcotics at you in the form of benzos. But this is a great alternative. Stay strong."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I'm 44 and I've been in the drug abuse game since I was a teenager. I went through the usual drug dialogue from weed to speed and acid and ecstasy. Cocaine until I found the love of my life, heroin, and so went on a roller coaster ride of overdoses, detoxes, broken promises, Hep C, friends dying. You know the script. I paid to see a private doc in Belgravia and they offered me 0.2 mg 3 times a day of clonidine. So I'm 4 days in and feel okay. A bit stiff because I'm housebound. Will try to do yoga today but low blood pressure is a hindrance. I should add I'm using non-prescription diazepam, but my doc would give them to me if I asked. Definitely the easiest detox I've ever done. I expect to be off these tablets and back at work in a few days."

Catapres (clonidine) for Opiate Withdrawal "I've found clonidine does help very much with physical symptoms of opiate w/d. But many Dr's don't want to give more than a few pills at the lowest dose. Which wasn't any help at all. It's unfortunate that I ended up failing because I couldn't find a Dr. to 'trust' & understand I could handle a short-term prescription - which regrettably led me to a methadone program. Now I know better, I know what I'll need once I finish tapering off the meth. Only thing is I don't hear anyone speak about side effects of stopping the clonidine though. I gave it a 7 because I always get an uptick in my BP & heart rate. Best to be very careful & use for shortest time possible."

For ADHD "I started taking clonidine just over 1 year ago after my anxiety, impulsivity and ADHD was getting out of hand. I also wanted to stop my stimulants because they didn't improve my quality of life like my neurologist kept telling me they would. My PCP recommended Clonidine. It really helps me relax and focus within about 30-40 minutes. I take 1 or 1.5 pills during the day when feeling anxious or overwhelmed and it really helps me relax, focus, and better control my thoughts. If I take 2 during the day, I get too sleepy. I do take 2 before bed and it helps me sleep really well. I really enjoy this medication, especially because it doesn't have addictive qualities. I'd definitely recommend this to others. Worst side effect was dry mouth that went away after the first few months. This med changed my life and is so simple."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I began having hot flashes about two months ago, they were awful. I can't take hormone replacement or use natural remedies because I have a blood clotting disorder and am on Coumadin for life. My doctor prescribed this to me on March 3, 2015, and I haven't had a hot flash since. So far for me, this has been a miracle drug. No noticeable side effects other than I go to sleep a little faster. I take one pill at night and began having instant relief. I was having horrible hot flashes all day and night sweats. All. Gone. I'm so thankful!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "So I have medical conditions (back and head) that caused me to have hydrocodone, oxycodone, Dilaudid, and so on increasing from the accident until now. Wasn't so bad at first, then I realized I became a mega-nasty cow without them, and I wasn't even in pain. I would count my day around when I needed my meds. Finally, one day we took the kids to the beach, and I forgot my purse (with meds in it). I drove 12 miles home to get it and realized it was ruling my life. I talked to my doctor, and he prescribed clonidine. I am not going to lie, I was scared, like I'm going to die scared. But I took 2 mg every 4 hours the first 2 days and then 1 mg the next 4. And I am free! Granted I had Ambien and Klonipin for sleep (only for detox). I hope the best for all of you!"

Catapres (clonidine) for Opiate Withdrawal "Clonidine is definitely a wonder for opiate withdrawal. I asked to be detoxed in the hospital after over a year of pain management got the best of me...they aren't kidding when they say opiates are addictive. After 2 days of sleeping through cold turkey (for the most part), I was able to eat and act normal, with no physical cravings. They administered a combination of clonidine, Serax, Soma, Ativan, and gabapentin, so I can't say which worked better initially. The clonidine seems to lessen the worst physical effects. It lowered my blood pressure a lot, so only a 0.5mg dose was allowed at a time; maybe more would work better for someone else with higher pressure. Detox with a doctor's help, they've got lots of options."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I'm at the end of day 6 of my detox/withdrawal, and without the clonidine, I couldn't have done it. I have been on Opiates for a few years, and the 120 pills the doctor prescribed every month were usually gone in two weeks, so I had to go buy from a friend, but the ones from him were Morphine. I started getting sick at the beginning of this month, even when taking the prescribed pills, because I don't think the prescription was strong enough to catch up to the Morphine. The first 2 days I had no meds to help me and thought I was going to die, but now that I have the clonidine, I feel much better. Before you start detox, do yourself a favor and get the meds to help you get through it."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I am on day 2 of clonidine and so far so good. It has been a godsend. It hasn't fixed everything. I still find myself slightly fatigued and getting headaches if I do too much too fast. Having some lightheadedness and slight dry mouth. But overall, I finally feel I can beat this demon we call addiction. I have an appointment to get the Vivitrol shot next week, and for the first time in years, the future looks bright."
