For Opiate Withdrawal "So I have been on a lot of opiate meds over 12 years. First Vicodin then so on up to oxymorphone, oxycodone. Highest doses were not affecting me at all. Taking well over 140mg daily to sustain. I like to have this info as a reader so you can understand tolerance and possible withdrawal (even though it varies). Clonidine has seemingly done wonders. It took away my panic. I am coming up on day 3 now, kicks started 16 or so hours ago, sweating, etc., started 8 hours in and it is helping me stay strong. You're going to detox, and there will be hard times but there is also amazing happiness when you can experience all the sensations of life again. Stay strong, keep moving on."

Clonidine for Opiate Withdrawal "Clonidine made all the difference in the world in my recovery. It helped with my restless leg, cravings, sweating. I took it with Valium. It makes you feel like you're walking through mud but it beats the alternative!! It's very inexpensive. It was a lifesaver for me."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I took clonidine 25 micrograms, 2 tablets, 3 times a day 2 years ago and they worked so well that I stopped taking them, thinking all was okay. I have just recently started taking them again because the flushes and hot sweats came back with a vengeance 7 months ago and I was suffering. I am currently up to 3 tablets, 25 micrograms, 3 times a day. After 3 weeks, the flushes and sweating are finally starting to calm down. They worked for me before so I know they will work again; anyone taking clonidine should not stop taking them. If you do want to stop, you have to reduce the dose back down the same as you would increase it. Good luck, everyone. The struggle is real."

Clonidine for Opiate Withdrawal "Works very well, it will make me very sleepy and takes away restless legs syndrome, sweats, and nausea. After stopping any opiate and before taking Suboxone, you need to go through withdrawal before the Suboxone will work and taking clonidine will ease the withdrawal symptoms. It will not take them away completely but it will make it a million times easier than without anything. When trying to get off Suboxone, taking clonidine in between doses of Suboxone will really really help. Tapering off Suboxone takes a long time and needs to be taken very slowly or withdrawals will last for weeks. There are several other medications that will help in conjunction with clonidine, just ask your doctor."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Clonidine works well when you are suffering from opiate withdrawal. It has helped several people that I know as well as myself. A lifesaver for this purpose. It doesn't take away all symptoms but it does relax the muscles and helps greatly with the hot/cold sweats. I definitely recommend this medication for this purpose."

For Hyperhidrosis "I was sweating constantly due to side effects of my medications. I was always hot and sweating. I had to keep my air conditioning on at home 24/7 at 68 degrees just so I wouldn't sweat. My doctor gave me the clonidine 0.1 patch and almost immediately I noticed a difference. I've been on it for about 9 weeks now and my sweating is completely stopped and under control. I can actually wear jeans and sweaters again and be comfortable!!! It's been years of wearing shorts and flip flops in the winter because I was always warm. But thanks to clonidine, the sweating has stopped and I can wear sweaters and jeans and shoes in winter now like a normal person without being completely drenched in sweat!! Even people around me have noticed a difference"

For Opiate Withdrawal "Oh my gosh, how I hate tramadol! I've been on 350 mg a day for 8 years for lower back pain from 3 compression fractures in a car accident. Never increased this dose. Never abused. The freaking withdrawal from this demon Rx is so very underrated. The most intense jaw soreness, RLS, severe electric shock-like feeling throughout my whole body, sweating, diarrhea, stayed with goosebumps, impossible to lay down and be still-let alone soreness in my arms and legs at night. This drug has some other thing going on with it that affects the brain and depression or something. Anyway, 0.1 mg clonidine 4x a day has made it possible to taper down. 1 month in."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I had hot flushes, night sweats and day sweats after having to stop taking HRT because of breast cysts. I didn't think that Catapres would work. But it did!!! I don't get night/day sweats anymore. I get the occasional hot flush if I eat too many fatty foods. It does take a long time to be effective, though, about 6 weeks. I went back to my Dr. to increase the dose to 1 1/2 tablets a day, which eliminated my symptoms. Don't stop taking them just because you don't think that they are going to work!!!!! I can now sleep at night."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I tried to quit opiates on my own, and I couldn't do it. I was so dependent on them I would vomit, sweat, light-headed, aching bones... just miserable if I didn't have opiates in my system. I went into a detox program and opted out of doing either a methadone or Suboxone quick taper program. I instead went on the 'opiate protocol,' which was clonidine and Seroquel. I was amazed how effective it was. I went through none of the nasty initial withdrawal symptoms. After 5 days, I started feeling secondary withdrawal symptoms (nausea, irritable, bad insomnia, sweating, night chills, shakes, aches)."

For Anxiety "Clonidine helped a lot with my anxiety and sweats. I would sweat in public situations or even going to a corner store, embarrassing. This really helps even more than the Xanax for my sweats. Anxiety doesn't go away completely, but still an amazing drug. Does nothing for depression, so looking to try something on top of this medication."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have recurring biological pancreatitis (not from gallstones, not from alcohol-I don't drink) and, of course, with each episode, it's off to the hospital for a few days with Dilaudid. Coming off Dilaudid, as most know, can be harsher than the illness. I went to a great pain management doctor and he gave me a prescription for a box of clonidine transdermal patches 0.30 mg you wear for a week each. After suffering from withdrawals in the past from Dilaudid, CTP was given to me by an outside hospital pain management doctor. I have had zero withdrawal symptoms except for a minor cold sweat, but that's it. No side effects from the patch. The key to this for me was to take CTP at the same time I started with Dilaudid before tapering down. That way, the drug is already in me."

For Opiate Withdrawal "So at 14, I started using first pain pills, then heroin. Then at 17, I started using subs to stay off the other drugs. I wanted off the subs (had been on 12 years) and had tried just about everything and always failed. By the second or third day, the withdrawals were so bad I'd go back to subs, sometimes even other drugs if I couldn't get the subs. I finally talked to my doctor, and she prescribed clonidine. It's been a miracle drug. On day three of being off subs, and the only problems I've had are being tired and sweating a lot, but I'll take that over nausea, diarrhea, and restless arms and legs any day. At this rate, I know I will be clean from here on out, and it makes me so happy. I'm telling you, talk to your doctor about it, it works 100 percent. I get being skeptical, I was at first too since nothing ever helped, but just try it."

For Insomnia, Stimulant-Associated "Was prescribed this drug for insomnia. Does absolutely nothing to help me sleep, and I get so dizzy about 3 hrs after I take this medication I cannot even get out of bed. This drug causes me to wake up soaked in sweat and extremely tired and dizzy throughout the day. When I wake up, I have to sit on the ledge of my bed for at least ten minutes, otherwise, I will fall. This drug is terrible. Never take it."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I started on this in May 2016. I take two at night and two in the morning, almost straight away, it worked. Then, 9 months later, I had 2 periods, and the flushes have returned worse than they were, 3 or 4 an hour. My doc upped my tablets to three in the morning and three at night, still no response. Then up to four tablets twice a day, sweats, still the same, but now experiencing upper stomach pain, unable to sleep. I'm returning to the doc. Hope I get this sorted. I'm drained all the time, hair constantly soaking."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Under treatment for 5 years for peripheral neuropathy and severe burning pain in toes, feet, ankles, and lower legs. With pain doctor, used 30 mg oxycodone 3X/day + 1.2 grams of gabapentin 4 times/day + (at max.) 20 mg of methadone, 4X/day. On methadone for 2.5 years. Oxy for 4 years. Did a 6-month slow weaning off methadone. Feeling much better now, but still get an occasional hot flash and massive sweats. Then, went 'cold turkey' on the (four years of) oxycodone. Started Nucynta Extended Release: 150 mg 2X/day. And used 0.3 mg of clonidine 3X/day for withdrawal. But WD was still pretty bad. Used frequent medical marijuana to handle WD symptoms."

For High Blood Pressure "I am being weaned off Valium, but I am still on morphine. I have been going through withdrawal symptoms. Sweating, insomnia, anxiety, panic, stomach pain, BP going up to stroke zone, glucose levels, just as bad. All of September and October have been some of the worst days of my life. Dr. put me on Clonidine for high blood pressure, it made it go higher, and I am sleeping my life away... not good."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I didn't expect it to work, but clonidine does seem to reduce hot flashes. I actually find I just feel sort of hot all the time, but don't seem to break into sweats that often. After a month trying this, I actually feel a lot cooler!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "Works great for the withdrawal from Dilaudid and OxyContin, which I have been on for at least 2 years. The sweats were awful part of the withdrawal, and this patch has taken all that away. Just a little dizzy and drowsy, hoping that will pass. It's only been 2 weeks."

For High Blood Pressure "Well, I was prescribed this in the ER for cardiac rhythm issues and crazy cardio. Electrical activity. Transdermal - had periods of high and low BP, no reason diagnosed yet. Also on 100 x 3 mg morphine sulfate, MS Contin (es) 5 x daily for severe back injury with 7 surgeries. Had been able to not have ANY cardio issues at all - e.g. sweating, pounding heart, erratic rhythm, ringing ears, feeling like passing out, etc. Also able to drop pain management by 30%, no issues or withdrawal. Worked like a charm and only knew about cardiac uses until I looked at the reviews here (no joke). Stats - age 47, male, no smoker, no alcohol, no recreational drugs. No other scripted meds."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was an addict. I've been on methadone for 12 years and am slowly coming down. My doctor gives me clonidine for my sweating. The trouble is if I take them all before my next refill, I have to suffer through some serious withdrawals. Clonidine is good for sweating, but is damn hard on you if you stop cold turkey. It's not the 'Godsend' like people say (at least not for me), but it does help. I am not going to refill my script, though, because I don't want to go through this again. I've already got the methadone to worry about, I don't need to detox from this crap too. I'll deal with the sweats without clonidine... So be careful with this stuff. I take 3-4 .2s a day - the orange ones."

For Perimenopausal Symptoms "I started with perimenopausal symptoms late last year but didn't realize that I was going into menopause. Only last month did I realize that it was menopause and it became worse. The sweating was unbearable, coupled with severe headaches. My pharmacist suggested I use Menograin (a brand of clonidine), and my sweating has subsided tremendously. Great product."

For Opiate Withdrawal "How many mg are people taking? I have been on Oxy and Morphine for 15 years. I take 3-4 30 mg Oxy and 2 100 mg Morphine a day for back pain and fibromyalgia. I want to wean down, but my dependence just isn't allowing it. Sweating, cramping, anxiety, relentlessness, and everything else. I have a bunch of clonidine I used to take, but it is 0.1 mg. If I want to use it to wean myself off these meds so they are all I can think of instead of the pain, how much should I take? 6'1" 300 lbs. Thanks, all."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I am 41 years old and have been on opiates ever since I suffered a significant spinal cord compression over 8 years ago. The first one I was on was a combination of MS Contin and oxycodone in large amounts, then got switched to all oxycodone and was taking over 80 mg a day and buying from friends and such. Then I went through withdrawal cold turkey, it was a pure nightmare, and I thought I was done, but made it through and stayed clean for about a year. Then I got addicted to fentanyl and have been doing that for about a year now. One day, I decided I had enough and didn't want to be a prisoner anymore. First, I went to the ER, they didn't care and kicked me out, no help at all. Then a friend had me try clonidine 0.1 mg, and it was a damn miracle. Most of the WD was so bearable, and I could sleep some. It doesn't help with the mental part and cravings, but the physical symptoms it does work on, and well, like diarrhea, sweating, abdominal cramping, and your RLS. I took the clonidine 0.1 mg every 4-6 hours depending on my symptoms for the last few days."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Went from 50 mcg fentanyl patch every three days to 25 mcg with only some uptake in my back pain and stomach upset, but no restless leg or cold sweats and all the rest. This is really a Godsend to me. I've been on the patch for 7 years with only an increase from every 3 days to every 2. Going back to every 3 days was almost unbearable until I read about clonidine on here. And I'm now down to the 25 mcg patch. I'm hoping to keep cutting down until I'm off these completely. The reason I'm on them is because I'm allergic to oral pain meds, but the Veterans Administration only wants to give them to dying patients. Sad because they worked great for me."
