"This was by far the most horrendous experience I have encountered with any medication to date. I went to the ER for pain, fever, nausea, and diarrhea. They thought I had the flu. Since we are in the midst of a deadly flu season, and currently pregnant, I freaked out. My second thought was listeria. After several days terrified of food poisoning, and feeling on the brink of death, my provider mercifully took me off this. If my life depended on this drug to survive I would have to seriously debate whether to take it or not. Seek other options if available."

Cleocin Ovules (clindamycin) "The Cleocin ovules is only med that has no side effects and gets rid of my BV! Only issue it gets stuck in the applicator and won't come out, so I just insert it myself laying down before going to bed."

"I've been using this gel off and on, but BV always seems to come back. I think maybe my body is immune to this medication now so I'm going to try metrogel. The first time I used cleocin it worked great for a few months, then of course it came back.. Then I got a yeast infection then after the treatment for the yeast BV would come back. It's a never ending cycle. But the medicine gave me no side effects, and works until it comes back."

Clindesse (clindamycin) "My doctor prescribed Clindesse along with Gynazole advising me to use them alphabetically "C" before "G" because of the expectancy of a yeast infection after using Clindesse. I noticed that this stuff really stayed in and clung over a course of days and comes out but NO SMELL. My cycle came on about 3 days after the dose and my blood didn't even have an odor. I use a flex cup so I can see and smell anything that comes out. Anyway I feel like this medication has renewed me and I felt soooooo fresh. Sure enough a few days after, I started to feel a bit itchy like a yeast infection is coming on but no discharge, luckily I had my trigger shot(Gynazole dose), so I was prepared. There really isn't anything like this out Flagyl use to be my go to but this one dose is amazing."

"My doctor prescribed me this medication to treat my BV. I was experiencing some odor and very little discharge. He prescribed me the 3 days dose and was surprised that it only came with one syringe. Day one of insertion was horrible, the syringe is not quite handy as the pill would get stuck in the syringe. After finally inserting the dose I had felt as if burning acid had been inserted into my vagina. It was horrible, the burning did not stop until 10 min later which felt like an eternity. Second night of insertion there was still burning sensation but somewhat bearable compared to the first night. Third night was back to the burning acid feeling but so bad that I almost wanted to head in to the hospital. I do not recommend this med!"

"A positive review!!! I was diagnosed with BV and was prescribed clindamycin vaginal cream for 7 days. After the first dosage, the bad odor had COMPLETELY disappeared. I had very, very, VERY mild side effects such as small lingering headache and maybe some constipation (might actually be due to my diet more so than the med). Also had some mild cramping. But that's it! I experienced no itching or burning or any diarrhea (knock on wood ) while on this med. I took my last dosage the night prior to writing this, still no bad odor or any major side effects. I'd highly recommend this medicine if you're not a pill person or if you're sensitive to flagyl. With insurance, I only had to pay $10 for the cream. I gave it 9/10 because using the applicator can be messy if you're not careful or take your time with it. And the cream is less convenient than taking an antibiotic pill but so far it's been absolutely worth it!!"

Clindesse (clindamycin) "I was prescribed Clindesse to treat BV. Over the last couple of years I've been dealing with recurring BV. Up until this prescription I've always been prescribed Flagyl. Apparently my body has become immune to it so my doctor wanted me to try this. It worked to treat the BV. The BV was completely gone in 2 days. However, I am now dealing with one of the WORST yeast infections I've ever had in my life. I've taken 2 doses of Diflucan and it's not going anywhere. Attempting a monistat 1 day cream tonight. I will never use this medication again!"

"It’s likely that you are terrified to take this medicine just like I was which is why I’m leaving a review. I read far too many reviews/possible side effects than was necessary. The reality is everyone’s body and reaction/lack of reaction to this medication will vary. The idea of putting cream inside me was disgusting and made me gag. You cannot feel the cream fill inside you in any way, you only feel the insertion tube. I made a much larger deal of this medication than needed. For me, there was no burning or itching when I went to the bathroom the next morning some cream was coming out but this is normal. Later in the day I had some nastiness left on the toilet paper while wiping, this is normal and exactly what it is supposed to be doing. I had zero side effects and I’m hoping that the Clindamycin wipes out the BV completely. I typically get a yeast infection every single time I take an antibiotic so I am already expecting that to happen with this and have Flagyl on stand by"

"Have had BV on and off for three years now. Extremely frustrating. The flagyl/metro pill caused me extreme vaginal discomfort. In comparison the cream is much more comfortable but it has side effects. I have pelvic aches, the first night I inserted a full dose but due to the aching I took a night off and inserted a half dose. Symptoms better, BV discharge is gone but I plan on Inserting a half dose every other night until I run out. Be sure to load up on probiotics or a yeast infection will be inevitable."

"I was asked to use the ovules for three days. Right after insertion (best done by finger) it burns a lot for the first 15-20 minutes then it calms down. I thought it was an allergic reaction but after reading these posts it seems like it’s a side effect. Symptoms seem to be getting better, but I’m also taking another oral antibiotic so I’m not sure which medicine is the effective one. If there is an alternative to this medicine, I would opt for that to avoid that awful burning sensation."

"So I have had reoccurring BV for years . When I got an IUD put in, in February of this year they basically stopped well I had a case of BV pop up the middle of last week . My dr called in Clindesse which I had never used before . Let me tell you day two I was so itchy down around my vulva that I couldn’t even go to work. I had to go to the store and get maximum strength vagisil itch cream and wipes and the relief was very minor. I was in bed for two days crying I almost went to the hospital. It’s now day 5 and my legs are itching with minor vaginal itching and swelling. I don’t know if I can ever take this medication again . I’ve skipped the gym for a week because the thought of putting on leggings is making me wanna cry"

"So. I had been treating as a yeast infection for well over a year when my gyno appt. Revealed otherwise. So far day 3 of 7. Only a small amount of itching. Few cramps and slight burning today. But all minor. I tried metrogel last year and that is what did not work for me. Gave me horrible pain and a raging yeast infection the next day. But it says that these creams give you a yeast infection. It is an antibiotic. I always get them just looking at antibiotics. So if things change for the worse I'll update. Otherwise I expect a good outcome."

"So it started a few months ago, thought it was a yeast infection so I decided to treat as such, about a week after I thought it was gone, symptoms flared back up. Went to the doc and she prescribed clindmyacin cream for 7 days. Didn't work, went back a few weeks later and she gave me the same thing. Didn't work. That was about a month ago, and my symptoms come and go. Any advice?"

"So I was diagnosed with BV (bacterial vaginitis) and I started on a Flagyl then my doc prescribed me the Clindamycin cream. Everything was going fine no smell no discharge no problems until after the last day I took it, then the itching & burning was terrible. I was constantly running to the bathroom because my vagina was on fire, it’s sensitive to the touch & irritable these aren’t even the symptoms I had before starting the medicine. I called my doctor have a follow up appointment hopefully everything’s gone & it’s just a a side effect but that itching & burning was like nothing I experienced before it has my anxiety through the roof!"

"I got my first case of BV and was prescribed Clindamycin cream for five nights. It did nothing to treat the infection. It caused me even worse pain, burning, and spread the infection so I contracted a UTI. On to Macrobid now for that. The cream is messy, stings, and dries everything out. I still tested positive for BV after the cream so was switched to oral Flagyl. Flagyl took the burning away within 12 hours. I should have gone with Flagyl the first time around."

"Okay. I went to urgent care a few days ago basically with burning and itching down there. The doctor said it could be yeast or BV (which annoyed me because why aren’t you sure) so she gave me the yeast one time pill and the BV cream. I was so scared because this is the first time dealing with something like this! ALL BECAUSE OF AMOXICILLIN!! Anyways so I've been using the cream for 3 days so far and I was prescribed it for 5 days. It’s honestly less itching and burning BUT I still feel a tad itchy at times. It is VERY annoying. But i’m also not completely done the dose so we’ll see. The only thing I hate right now is how I can’t have sex for two weeks HAAHA"

"This was my first time taking any vaginal cream or suppository and I wish I didn’t. I should of used what I was used to. I get BV very often and when the symptoms started I called the teledoc number my insurance covers. The doctor prescribed me the Clindamycin and I’ve been having horrible side effects ever since. It has been over a week now and I have burning sensations and irritation. I may have a yeast infection now. Will definitely go to the urgent care."

"I took Clindamycin vaginal cream (2%) for 4 nights after discovering I had a mild case of BV. I only took 4 nights because the doctor said I could either do 3 nights or 7 nights. I opted for 3 + 1 for good measure. I'm a week past the last dose and have no signs of any infection remaining (no discharge, no smell). I had sex with my hubby a few times over the weekend (had to make up for lost time) and still no issues. I've been checking my pH and all looks good. Of course, it goes up after sex, but it comes back down. As far as side effects, I had the mildest amount of pelvic cramping. Barely noticeable. No burning, no itching, no yeast infection. I increased my usual dose of probiotics and yogurt intake to try and balance out the good bacteria. I would highly recommend this treatment for mild BV. The cost was $88 with insurance, so definitely pricey."

Cleocin Ovules (clindamycin) "If you get the ovule three day treatment it stays inside of you and is just as effective, if not more compared with the 7 day cream treatment. I just finished a three day ovule treatment for the first time trying clindomycin for BV and the side effects are so much less intense than metronidazole. People talk about a burning but it goes away after the first day for the most part. People also might find it important to know that with the three day ovule 30 percent of the medicine is absorbed systemically while the cream 7 day treatment only 5 percent is absorbed. So it’s important to weigh the pros and cons, do you want to get it over with and resolved in three days and possibly have more side effects or use it every day for 7 days? Keep in mind that is twice the amount of time, I personally didn’t find many noticeable side effects from the ovule. I think because compared with metronidazole, cleocin is a walk in the park. Can’t believe I used metronidazole for so many years.."

"I have never had BV before in my life, now that I had it once I get it every couple of months. I have done the metro gel before many times. 7 days to only have a raging thrush afterwards. My doctor finally prescribed me this as I just had a hysterectomy and had everything removed minus ovaries and I'm left with a vaginal cuff which isn't healing well. Once my stitches were gone she gave me this after flaygl didn't work either. This time around I have stayed heavy on my probotics, I took 5 day cream and took my diflucan day 3. I have had zero issues with burning. Only achyness first few days which I get from BV. I'm 7 days post meds and it feels great. Really thinking it worked."

"I am on the vaginal ovule. This is my second time around. The first one didn't treat it. One of the side effects is that it causes your monthly cycle to mess up. The ovule triggered my cycle to start a week early, so I started on the second day. I don't think I got the full effect of the first pack. I don't like the terrible burning sensation they cause either."

Clindesse (clindamycin) "I would highly, recommend Clindesse for BV! At first I was not going to take this medication but after awhile it as that I didn’t want it to get any worse than it was, so I took a chance! It’s worth it! It’s day three & at first the only side effects so far as been on day one a slight headache that went away, and really constipation. The reviews had me not wanting to take this but I haven’t had no yeast infection or diarrhea like a lot of other people. Medications do work different according to the person so it’s good to try for yourself and if it does not work out then try something else. This by far has been the best one on the market!"

"I used the clindamycin. After day two my symptoms were very minimal. I am only hoping it will get better. I gave this product 8 out of 10 because of unease of use. The ovule would stick in the dispenser so I would have to keep trying over and over which was frustrating. Overall it is good."
