For Diverticulitis "Horrible drug. I was given Cipro and flagyl when my CRP rose to 140. Completed the course even after I got rashes. Now I have been suffering a lot after that, both physically and mentally. I think that doctor prescribed me to suffer when those were not needed for a young man like me."

For Sinusitis "First of all, I am a certified pharmacy tech. I have taken Cipro so many times in the past for ear infections, UTIs, sinusitis, and whatever else. Well, that ALL changed! I was taking it for my sinuses and an ear infection. Just about as soon as I swallowed the pill, I started breaking out in a rash and welts all over my body. I looked like I had been chemical burned, not to mention the itching! I let the pharmacy manager look at me, and she said, 'You are highly allergic to Cipro.' I had never had a reaction like that before in the past. I don’t know if they changed up the chemicals to it or what. To this day, I can’t even count out Cipro if a patient has a script for it! I will immediately break out in welts on my hands and start scratching if any of the powder gets on my skin. I can’t even touch the stock bottle, it’s that bad."

For Bronchitis "Dangerous drug, associated with many side effects, even after you stop taking it. I took a similar one (a quinolone) and came out in a terrible rash. Had a bad taste in my mouth, and aches and pains. I also suffered hallucinations. All these reactions have been strongly associated with this group of antibiotics. Best avoided."

For Urinary Tract Infection "On the 7th and last day for taking Cipro, I developed a rash with no itching on most of my body. After 2 weeks, I still have some rash and also nausea. My doctor said Cipro had nothing to do with either. It did clear up my UTI infection, but should I not take Cipro ever again? Thanks."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Came in hospital for severe bladder infection, was prescribed these, took one and left, sat at the park after, 10 min later I start to get very warm and face, ears, etc., very itchy. Felt something was very odd. I told my friend, and he looks at me and says, 'We need to go back to the hospital.' I had started from head to toe, swell and be covered in hives. I drove the 5 min back to the hospital, ran in, lifted up my shirt, and they buzzed me back in. I was immediately placed in a room, in rushed 2 doctors and a ton of nurses to begin my treatment for anaphylaxis. The abdominal pain was beginning at this point, as well as my throat swelling. I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days. Anaphylaxis is rare, I'm sure, but I would definitely advise only taking this medication within reach of a hospital in case the same were to happen."

For Kidney Infections "I took Cipro, having suffered a UTI from the Mirena coil that wouldn't clear. As with all medications, the side effects, depending on the individual, can be horrendous. I suffered swellings, hives, a horrendous red rash on both underarms that left my skin damaged. The next side effect was tendonitis in both my ankles that left me unable to walk. I was told that the tablet reacted to the sun. I had factor 50 just sitting on the patio for half an hour and got burned. A nightmare."

For Diverticulitis "Cipro was horrible. I have never had a reaction to an antibiotic before. Mentally disturbed head. It was very strange and made me panicky. Broke out in a rash on forearms and itchy, tight chest. Read how awful this drug is. Thank goodness my reaction happened after a few doses and not a week or two. Fluoroquinolones are poison for me. I never would have thought an antibiotic could be so harmful."
