"OK had to write a review after seeing so many horror stories. My side effects were minimal, about an hour and a half after taking the 4 tablets at once as prescribed, my stomach hurt and I felt only a little sick. I laid in bed and just rode it out by napping. When I woke up I had one minor episode of diarrhea and then, done. It was definitely nothing like some of the bad experiences I've read on here. Many folks review because they had a bad experience and folks who have no side effects tend to not care enough to report their non-eventful experience. Keep that in mind if you're nervous! Definitely worth the 30 minutes of a little stomach ache to make yourself healthy. Just eat beforehand and after, you will be solid. It was no big deal."

"After finding out that I had a Chlamydia Infection, my first reaction was to look up the drugs that treat it. A year ago, I had a different bacterial infection that I was treated for by a different medication. I had a severe reaction to it and spent the night in the emergency room. Ever since that day, I have been terrified to take new types of medication, especially ones for bacterial infections. My doctor prescribed me this medication and after reading the reviews I was terrified. I postponed taking it for 3 days because I was scared. Then I ate some toast and ginger tea right before I took it. DO NOT BE SCARED OF THIS MEDICATION. I had minimal side effects and was fine. All I had was some slight loose stools. The hardest part about taking this medication was controlling the anxiety. Everyone is different and tolerates medication differently. The reviews on here that are horror stories are rare. As long as and eat something before taking the pills you should be fine. GOOD LUCK :)"

"I'm 21 years of age, dated a guy who BEGGED TO be in a relationship with me and I eventually fell in love. I thought he was perfect and would never cheat on me. I found out he had a fiancé and I was heart broken. I got an STD testing , and found out I had my first STD. I was give 2 500 mg of Azithromocyin. I was advised to take it on a full stomach. I was fine until an hour later, my stomach hurt tremendously and I started shaking for about 45 min then it subsided after I said a prayer to God to please help me! **please if you're dating someone make sure you both get tested. Do not go by their words, or even if you trust them, bc they might not know they are infected. Practice safe sex !!"

"I got diagnosed with chlamydia and they prescribed me azithromycin four 250mg pills and it said to take them all at once. I took them on an empty stomach and 10 mins after I started having intense stomach cramps and felt nauseous. The cramps were so bad I had to have my boyfriend drive home and it hurt to walk. The cramping was in the middle lower part of my stomach and eventually my lower stomach area had pain, and also I was pooping out just water - it felt like I was peeing out of my butt. The pain was bad and it lasted for hours. I was on the floor in pain. Not sure if it worked yet today was my first day taking it."

"This is my first time having chlamydia and my last time. Went to the clinic, took the medicine around 3:50pm. Last ate at 1pm and I started work at 5pm. I was fine until I drunk soda at work and it's been hell since then. I'm gassy, having streaks of stomach pains, diarrhea, and trying to not regurgitate. Unprotected sex is not worth it. No one is worth it."

"Week after hookup found out I had Chlamydia when my pee started burning and constantly discharging a white puss. Was prescribed this medication as a single dose took on a Sunday afternoon minor stomach grumbling, then an unpleasant headache at night which felt like intense pressure/fever and put me to sleep. Woke up next day headache was gone and by end of day started to notice improvement in burning while peeing. By day 3 discharge was much more infrequent and burning pee was almost gone no where near as intense. By Friday which was day 6 burning pee was gone and no discharge at all, life was back to normal lol. Never had any diarrhea or uncontrollable stomach pain just little nauseated first 24 hours. Very effective med for me"

"First time taking the medicine. Two pills 500mg. I took the pills while cooking and ate immediately after. I laid down for a nap and fell asleep. I woke up with a strong sensation to throw up. I had to fight it for awhile because I was afraid if I threw up the medicine wouldn't work. Severe stomach pain as well. No other symptoms from my experience."

"I went to the doctor and they made me take two 500mg tablets of this medicine . I was okay at the doctor but on my way home I started to become feel nausea and severe stomach aches. As soon as I came in I started to cook me some eggs and turkey bacon but as soon as it was done cooking I had to vomit and use the restroom . My stomach is hurting and I feel so weak. Maybe it will change after I eat but as far as right now this is horrible. I took it on an empty stomach so I see that's a no go."

"So I found out I had this (like everyone else on here). I had eaten pretty good through the day (fried food though) I got a shot on the right side of my buttocks and felt nothing I went to CVS pharmacy to get the two pills 500mg (must take both at the same time equaling 1000 mg!) I didn’t feel much until (even managed to cook some spaghetti) HOWEVER about 2 hours later I felt funny got hot as anything, had nausea, laid down, mouth formed with Salvia then it hit me like a rocket I was like omg u gotta run to the bathroom thankfully no one was in there as I sure did poop a lot- like never before & then it was coming out like pee. I got scared in fear I might get dehydrated, after all the pooping I felt a little strong so I took a shower & washed my hair now I’m lying in bed scared to eat the spaghetti I cook due to the extreme diarrhea. Scary lmao definitely wrapping it up from now on!!! Not worth the stomach cramps and pains and diarrhea"

"Took the treatment this morning 4 pills at 10:30 play sports straight after till 1pm felt absolutely fine then came home and at 5:30 starting feeling really ill and ten minutes after started vomiting and had diarrhoea it's 6:30 and still hasn't stopped, will I need to go back and take it all again?"

"Took the 2 pink tablets, 500mg each, as one dose and everything was fine. I took a nap and a few hours later woke up sweating & really nauseous. I then began getting really bad cramping...Haven't gone to the bathroom yet but I did yack because the nausea was that bad. I really hope the medicine is still effective even after puking a few hours after taking it. Definitely learned my lesson about unprotected sex!!"

"I took two of the 500 mg pills. I felt fine and took them with food. Two hours later I was extremely nauseous and dizzy and had diarrhea. I then felt fine then another hour later I got extreme chills and was shaking and a fever. The experience with this medicine SUCKED so I hope its all cleared up and I am ALWAYS using condoms now :/"

"So I was prescribed 4 of these little delights as a precautionary measure and figured hey, better safe than sorry, right? I frequently get throat infections and take antibiotics for them so I figured my body should be pretty well accustomed and that I would be completely fine. I had a light snack and took the pills before bed. An hour or two passed with no symptoms, and I was relieved as I was pretty worried about feeling nauseous after my pharmacist had warned me I most likely would. I feel fairly gassy as I'm going to sleep But figure that's pretty normal and harmless...fast forward a few hours and I wake up feeling wet because I pooped the bed. Here I am, humiliated, frequently visiting the bathroom, wearing a makeshift diaper of pads."

"I tested positive for chlamydia and was prescribed two azithromycin 500mg pills. The nausea was awful and I had really bad stomach cramps for about an hour, but nothing else after that. A week later and I am still experiencing symptoms so I am PRAYING that this medicine worked!!!"

"My advise is eat a big meal before taking it. That way when it cleans you out. You have plenty of stuff come out of you. I took it on a light lunch and the whole day I had to sit on the toilet with pain and nothing coming out. It was horrible. Protected sex is best ladies."

"So I found out Friday that I had Chlamydia, I was proscribed two pills (500 mg each) of Azithromycin. I didn't eat all day so I took them then had a slice of pizza. TOTALLY BAD IDEA. About 20 minutes later I felt dizzy, light headed, and ended up puking everything. Today is now Monday, I had the prescription refilled, ate a meal first then took the two pills. Felt fine for about two hours then suddenly my stomach started hurting. I was so afraid I was going to end up pining so I forced myself to eat bread. Two and a half hours later and I had to run to the bathroom, ended up having diarrhea but felt so better after. My stomach doesn't hurt anymore! So gross, I know! Just make sure to take these while at home!"

"I was reading the reviews for this medication 30 minutes after I have injested it. I can't deny, I was a little bit worried while reading the side effects, especially because I took it with only having eaten two cookies and a banana. Surprisingly, I had not a single side effect. I was not throwing up nor did I have diarrhea or upset stomach. I was actually hungry. I ate peacefully and happily ate Chinese food and cheesecake without a single issue. I will say I noticed an increase amount of discharge, not yellow like I was having before, but it was kinda white/clear thick. My guess is my vagina is cleansing itself and clearing out everything inside. I would highly recommend this, its quick, easy, and simple."

"I was scared as anything to take it because of the reviews but I went head on and took it at 8:00pm after eating. I waited about 10 mins and dozed off then woke up went to work at 10pm - still didn’t feel anything no cramps , no diarrhea or nothing .... I just woke up at 1:00am and I still feel nothing I felt like I took a ibuprofen ... TAKE IT AFTER EATING CLOSE TO BED TIME YOU'LL SLEEP RIGHT THROUGH IT ..."

"My only side effect was some indigestion that I got from my food because of anxiety reading these reviews! Man.... I will never read antibiotic reviews again. 1000mg for clamydia, 4 white pills 250mg each. My food was just two fried chicken pieces and some mashed potatoes from Popeyes. I felt some heat go through my body and the for about 30 minutes I was bloated from anxiety lol. Burped a couple times. Currently 7 hours in and was unharmed. Side notes: 6ft male 180 lbs Age: 30 I prayed for 1 week before taking because of the reviews. I mean Thank God i was unharmed and I don't doubt he assisted me. But I believe I was afraid for NO reason. I hate medicine and I'm a roughneck but the reviews made me cringe like a nancy pants. And for what? The fear only exists in the head! Dont be afraid of this! If eat a healthy foods, and have only taken antibiotics like twice in your life, don't worry. Don't be filled with fear because of these reviews"

"I had to post a review. Everybody’s body is different. I was prescribed two 500mg azithromycin pills and was told I could take in one dose. I already ate prior to taking the pill before bed but I decided to take them and eat a little after to help ease myself. Didn’t do anything. I woke up to the WORST stomach pains I’ve ever had in my life. I took some pain medicine to help ease the stomach pains so I’m just waiting for it to kick in. This is definitely teaching me a lesson. Wear condoms."

"Just today I found out I got it and my Doctor has prescribed the 4 pills to take at once. I got home around 9:30 and took the 4 pills then I had a small salad. Immediately I started to feel like I have to throw up. Then my stomach starts to hurt horriblely hearing my stomach make all these weird noises and sound. Then I started getting a ridiculously amount of gas out of no where. These side effects are the worst I swear"

"I took 2 pills of 500mg last Sunday, it’s now one week and three days later and I still feel symptoms mostly itching that’s driving me crazy I hope this medicine works soon. Overall side affect were not too bad just a loose stool and a little bit of stomach cramps."

"I felt cramps an hour into taking two azithromycin 500mg pills to treat chlamydia infection. The cramps were uncomfortable, but still only a 6-7 on the pain scale. I am used to period cramps and it was slightly different, but the pain went away after an hour. I was nervous to take this pill, but everyone has a different body. I just hope it cures my chlamydia."
