"Took the one dose of azithromycin the two 500mg tablets and it caused me to have to have a bowel movement almost constantly for over a week, reminded me of having period cramps. Also, it had made me start my period early and have an extra heavy flow that lasted 4 days longer than my 3 day average. Also, it had made me break out on my face, chest, and shoulders so bad. I’m 23 and I haven’t broken out that bad since I’d been in middle school. The antibiotics however did the job despite the side effects."

"After having unprotected sex with two different men in one night (I do NOT recommend), I figured something bad would happen. After finally going to the doctor bc my vag felt inflamed and swollen, I was diagnosed with chlamydia and given azithromycin. After taking it on an empty stomach (again, would not recommend) about an hour late my stomach was hurting so bad. I also got hot flashes and my pulse elevated, but I was graced with no diarrhea unlike others on here. I decided I was not gonna deal with it anymore and forced myself to sleep and woke up feeling so much better in the morning. Hopefully this did the trick and I'm cleared of the infection. NEVER having sex again."

"I have severe anxiety from my emetophobia (fear of vomiting) and was super scared reading the reviews because I was scared to throw up :/ so I went crazy on the preventative care. I had ondansetron on stand by, and was popping pepto like it was candy. Also took the medicine after eating a pb&j. I took all 4 pills and was shaking like crazy for a couple hours after due to pure fear, but I was fine! I took it on the 31st December, and I've just felt like, gassy? But I wasn't farting or anything. I had one soft poop and my sound has made noise, but for the most part I just felt kinda heavy like I had a lot of gas in me, but I'm fine! I survived lol I'm praying it cured me. If it didn't (knock on wood I really am not trynna jinx myself here) at least I know what to expect the next time!"

"If you’ve just gotten to this site, stop reading reviews. It’ll make you anxious and you may panic like I did. Eat before taking this, let your stomach settle maybe 30 minutes and then you should be okay. Went to sleep shortly after taking it, and slept through the night without problems. Side effects are very mild, I would compare the nausea to drinking water a bit too fast, but not like you’re going to be sick. If you can, take probiotics, drink kombucha or eat yogurt. It’ll help with the diarrhea if you have any. Me being emetophobic had a complete fit after reading reviews, but I’m perfectly fine. If you can’t bare the nausea, buy Emetrol. Don’t stress, you’ll be okay, just rest and take it easy."

"I got diagnosed the beginning of this month, after reading these reviews I was terrified of taking the meds, I took them and I was ready for the worst pain I have ever felt, but actually I had none . I was perfectly fine all night and I slept through the night . I woke up and pooped through my day , no side effects at all . Just take the meds, you will be fine ."

"Had my first ever one night stand and 2 days later, tested positive for chlamydia. My first encounter with an STD at 31! I felt immediately guilty. Lesson learned folks! Anyways, I picked up my script of 2 tablets 500mg each of Azithromycin around 5 pm. Instructions read, take both tablets at once. No warning lables or anything. So I popped both in the parking lot of the pharmacy, chugged about 16 oz of water with it. I skipped supper and headed straight to my kickball game and played a double header. I had no side effects until about 7 hours later, mild diarrhea. Ate normal meal at home. Went to bed. Woke up fine. No problems days after either. Hope this helps everyone against the negative comments!"

"My boyfriend slept with so many girls before we start dating and so when we started our relationship we also got active in sex without using protection I was only on birth control. Then I was seeing the doctor because I always had painful sex which came out to be vaginismus and when the doctor took me a test they also found out that I had chlamydia. I felt ashamed of myself and I had to tell my boyfriend that he needs to get checked up. My doctor sent me 2 tablets of chlamydia 500mg to take at once. I took it before eating and then I ate a lot and drunk plenty of water. That was yesterday and I have not had any side effects so far. I was even able to travel from OH to KY. So far so good. I think our bodies respond differently to the medication....PLZ PRACTICE SAFE SEX."

"So i'd like to post this because like many of you i read all these experiences before i took the medicine. i have a horrible phobia of throwing up and after reading the experiences on here i was so terrified i almost cried. It took me nearly a half an hour just to swallow the medicine( powder version) because i was scared of all the side effects. So after i took it i sat down shaking with bad anxiety waiting for the worst to happen. Take these reviews lightly. I had minimum to no side effects. It has now been two days since i took it and i feel fine. The most i can say is i pooped one time and had a weird stomach sensation but that is it. So please don't be nervous just know after you take it it will make you feel better"

"The largest inconvenience about this drug for me was trying to read everyone else’s negative review before I took the 1 gram dose and I had anxiety about it for HOURS before I realized taking this will do good. The only side effects I had from this drug was some watery stools and some intestinal noise. Whoever is reading this, you’re probably scared as to take it because you never have and wanted to know. Unless you have heart problems or other medication known to react with this: It is safe to take and for the love of Odin take it with (a lot of) food and water. Friends of mine once had to take it too, and they said they felt no different. You will be alright. You may experience stomach issues and nausea for a little bit, but all in all, you will survive. You got this! I gave the medication a 7 because, again, anxiety over all of the horror stories."

"Did anyone experience extreme inflammation or what appeared like bloating or weight gain the week after the 1 day 4 pill dose. ? I’m six days in and man am I bloated. I feel like I put on 20 pounds. Been drinking lots of water and taking probiotics. Just wondering if anyone experienced this too"

"I took 8! Yes 8 250mg pills in one single dose. I took them at 9:30pm tonight on an empty stomach (i had a hard time eating due to stress). Its now 12:30am and I've had watery diarrhea, dizziness, nausea and hot flashes since 11:30. It seems to be subsiding. Fingers crossed!"

"Annual pap smear and STD test, found out I had chlamydia, got 1 pill of 1000mg azithromycin both my partner and I took them - it worked . No vomiting or nausea maybe just upset stomach. No diarrhea. Got re-tested 6 weeks later although my doctor said it was not necessary but I did it to ease my mind and it was negative."

Azithromycin Dose Pack (azithromycin) "I had pharangitis and chlamydia which was a double whammy. This is my second time taking these meds. The first time not really any side effects but this time when I was on my last pill to take I have terribly bad vomiting and diarrhea. Couldn't even keep water down. The next morning I puked after drinking water went to sleep woke up and felt better. Drank water again and am getting that pit feeling again. It did cure everything though. This is to be continued..."

"So I took the 4 pink pills at the clinic was feeling great that I am getting rid of this infection. 1 hour later I had ate a sandwich like 30 mins later man did I feel nauseous as if I had eaten something really greasy. I felt it in my throat, it wasn't like I had to throw up but I had the sensation. I didn't want to throw up cause hey I already took this pills don't wanna ruin the effect. Then I got the sensation I had to poo bad I got diahrrea lets just hope this pills work!!! side effects caught me off guard cause this is my first time experiencing this. but hope my review helps others going through the same!"

"It seems like this whole process is very simple (in which in one reality it is), however up there in my brain? Mentally? I was having probably the worst anxiety I’ve had before. But another important thing that helped me so much during this entire lesson was praying for Archangel Ralphael and calling on him to surround me at that time of me being healed. "This is the second time I've had to take a single dose of 1000mg of Azithromycin. The first time was Zithromax and today I took the generic version. Both times I had pretty much the same experience: I had some pretty painful cramping and bloating within 1 hour of taking it and 2 hours later I had to rush to the toilet. After the first time on the toilet I felt a lot better, I literally felt like my entire digestive system had been cleaned out. After another 2 hours I was on the toilet again, not as bad as the first time. All in all I'm giving it a rating of 10/10 because let's face it, a bit of diarrhea for getting rid of Chlamydia is a small price to pay. If anything, I'll be making sure I never have to be in this situation again."

"I been treated twice and I've still got chlamydia ! So first I found out that I got a Chlamydia and they gave me Azithromycin and I told them I will come back again next month but they told me it’s to early for the test. But I still come check it again a month later so it’s come out Positive again!!! Then they gave me the same medicine again and this time I was waiting for 6 months to go back and take a test and it’s still come out positive. Between one mouth testing and 6 month testing I haven’t had a partner or done anything with anyone and I been taking Azithromycin twice already and I've still got a chlamydia !!! Idk why and I’m not supposed to have it cuz I been treated twice already. So I don’t understand why..."

"I took 4 doses of this today all at once for chlamydia as I am infected. I took 4 250mg doses. I looked on this website before taking to find out side effects and other people's experiences and I was absolutely terrified of taking them. But I took them anyway obviously as I want rid of the infection. I took them at about 9 o'clock this morning and I have had absolutely no side effects what so ever. No dizziness, no stomach pain, no diarrhea. I have had a bit of nausea but I put that down to being because I was hungry so I ate and felt fine. I hope that it is as effective as I have been told. I will post an update in a week or two when I receive results, hopefully they will be negative."

"I'm sharing this to dim the fear in everyone's head from the rest of these comments I took this medication because I found out I had chlamydia I was extremely anxious because I have horrendous allergies to a lot of antibiotics I had four 250g white pills in the clinic free of charge and expected the worse So I took the medication at 9:30 in the morning by 10 I felt like I was gonna throw up but didn't, the nausea lasted 30 mins max. I got home by 11 went straight to bed woke up around 2 and was fine and it's currently the next day and I have had one dump (not diarrhoea) and I've had no other issues There's hope after all ! Enjoy being chlamydia free everyone x"

"Taking this azithromycin medication is no joke my advice is to make sure you eat something before taking it. I experienced loose stools and stomach aches but it subsided with time into the morning. I’ll forever have more respect for using condoms. Good luck with taking the medication"

"If you were embarrassed about getting chlamydia, consider that this is my second time getting it. That aside, the first time I took azithromycin, I was so scared about the high dosage and nausea that I could barely eat before taking it. I had just some plain bread and water and slept. I had one loose BM in the morning and that was it. This second time I felt confident enough to eat a full meal beforehand and woke up feeling bloated and nauseous and terrible. It passed in about an hour and then I was fine. Again one loose BM in the morning and nothing since then. Only complaint is how long azithromycin took to clear my chlamydia symptoms, it took over a week last time and I’m so itchy already that I’m going a little crazy. It’s day 3 since my dose and I can’t wait for it to kick in completely."

Zithromax (azithromycin) "Soooo, I get a call saying I need to get checked, and of course I'm all butt hurt because I've had like one fling in my whole life and of course it's the only guy I didn't use protection with. So I go in, I get tested. I get the results. It's chlyamidia. My doctor prescribes me the drink powder and honestly, taking the medicine was terrible because the powder doesn't desolve all the way so I had to keep refilling my glass. I gagged a lot so just be careful with it. I ate right after I took it and it took about 30 minutes for the stomach cramps to start in. They were pretty uncomfortable, but I didn't get diarrhea just the cramps. It's not great, but I mean. It's the price I pay. Just gonna sleep it off. And probably never have sex again."

Zithromax (azithromycin) "Took this last week under the directions of my pharmacist. I ate a full dinner (burger and some veg) and waited 45 minutes to an hour before taking my 4 large pink pills. My pharmacist and my doctor both recommended staying away from dairy in the meal before I took the pills. Went to bed feeling a little nauseous but, that could have been nerves because of all the reviews on here. I slept through the night, totally fine. No diarrhea, no vomiting. Got my lab results back this morning and I'm in the clear."

"If you are experiencing symptoms of diarrhea/nausea/vomiting, try taking Benadryl 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to taking antibiotic. Benadryl may cause drowsiness, so do take 1-2 hours before bedtime. I have tried this and it gives you zero side effects."

"Good thing I read the reviews after I took it bc I would've been scared lol. But definitely on the toilet right now and my stomach was in a lot of pain, thought it was barfing pain but it wasn't . Your stomach will hurt after dosage ."
