For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have been recently diagnosed with H. pylori. I am on my 4th day of medication and feeling so many side effects: nausea, tiredness, chest pain, body pain, and I feel like I’m actually sick. My bloated tummy has come down significantly, however, I can’t sleep at night. I feel dizzy when I’m laying in bed or, worse, when I’m out of the house. I’m hoping and praying to go the whole 14 days, but I really don’t know what to do. If anyone else has these side effects, please help. Thanks."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 4, feel constantly tired. Have to sleep sitting as some weird acid runs into my mouth and tastes horrible. Stomach still bloated and eating makes me sick but not eating also makes me sick. Headaches on and off. Chest pains. Constant metallic taste and loss of taste buds. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On May 25th, 2021, I was diagnosed with H. pylori, after which I was put on a 10-day antibiotic course of amoxicillin/clarithromycin/omeprazole. On May 27th, I started taking antibiotics as advised by my doctor. Day 1, I felt a little dizzy and tired, my doctor advised me to eat yogurt/probiotic drink. In the entire 10 days, I only felt dizzy twice with no other side effects. I thought this was easy and nothing to worry about. The real struggle started on day 10 when I started feeling lightheaded and restless, and I could not feel myself to this day. A couple of times, it was so bad that I almost planned on calling 911. I feel lightheaded every morning until the afternoon at least, and do not feel myself at all. Most of the time, I am tired and low on energy. If any of you have experienced similar side effects weeks after finishing the course, please let me know in case any treatment worked for you, I really need some ideas of what could help me."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I just finished yesterday with the 14-day treatment, however, I experienced loss of appetite, significant weight loss, restlessness, feeling dazed, tired all the time, and choking episodes. Also, the last 4 days, I noticed severe chest pain with tingling on the left side, including up the left side of my throat. I went to the ER and was told my heart rhythm is in good shape, but the pain was unbearable. I was given a GI cocktail and sent on my way. I hope the treatment starts kicking in at any time now because I’ve never felt weaker or dazed in my life. People have been telling me that I look very sick. On the plus side, I noticed the abdominal pain decreased significantly to the point I can’t remember it ever hurting. Stool still looks the same as when I was diagnosed with H. pylori. The only concern I continue to have is the hypertension feelings in the morning and the esophagus sensitivity to anything I ingest. Hope everyone gets better because the H. pylori bacteria ain’t no joke."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I don't normally share my experiences or leave reviews on anything, but I thought I'd share in regards to the Prevpac because I'm living through a nightmare. The worst thing is the bad taste in my mouth. I know it sounds like a very small side effect, but imagine the taste in your mouth after vomiting bile and times that by 100. There's also the drip taste in the back of my throat. I feel like I'm constantly holding puke back. I'm on day 3, and I'm very tired and feel extra weak. I've tried eating crackers, but no such luck in helping me out. I did, however, buy a lot of hard candy and gum, which helps a lot. I wake up every hour or two during the night to chew gum or suck on a candy. These drugs are no joke. I wish everyone luck."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I wanted to share my experiences on taking this medication for H. pylori bacteria. The first two days of taking this medication, the side effect was very strong. I threw up, nausea, dizzy, stomach upset, and felt very tired. I felt a little bit better after day 4, but the symptoms came back again. Can't eat much and still have a strong acid reflux. I am on day 12 of the treatment and read through this article and saw that I am not the only person. Super confused, is this just the side effect of the medication or did my symptoms get worse? Overall, I feel more sick than normal after treatment started."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am halfway through treatment for H. pylori bacterial infection. I haven't experienced side effects like some have mentioned because I was told to take PROBIOTICS while on this treatment to put good bacteria back in my system. I had previously had treatment for another problem and took antibiotics but not a probiotic and had awful side effects that took time to clear up. This time when I took probiotics with the Prevpac, the results were excellent! I only have the acid taste in my mouth and feel a little tired, but otherwise, no other side effects. Wonderful!! The probiotic should be taken between the two doses and not with the dose."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "So I started the antibiotic H. pylori combo of amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and lansoprazole meds on Monday, and it's a 14-day course. Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I've had the H. pylori infection for at least a few years, but this year it got to a point where I couldn't handle it. I had severe gastritis and couldn't eat anymore. Some days the food I ate over the course of a day wouldn't even add up to one meal. The treatment was not pleasant, but tolerable. It's a lot of pills to take in one day, and I felt exhausted some of the days. A few weeks after I finished the treatment, I noticed that I no longer have immediate pain and nausea when I try to eat. Now (4 months later), I can almost eat a full meal and feel okay. It took a while to recover, but it was very much worth it."

I too was worried about taking it after reading some horror stories regarding the side effects. I am happy to say that so far the only side effects that I've experienced are a little tiredness the first day and the bad taste in my mouth, which I've noticed that I've experienced more in the middle of the night upon waking for various reasons. Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was very hesitant to take the meds due to the horror stories, and I'm glad I actually went through with it! Everyone reacts differently to the meds, and it's not as bad as I read it would be! I'm currently on Day 10 of 14 (almost there... Kudos to me!) The first couple of days I felt nothing. By Day 4, I noticed the dark stool, and I'm still having dark stools. By Day 8, I'm a bit nauseous at times and would feel better after eating. So far, yesterday, which was Day 9 for me, I felt the worst of it. I was nauseous all day, light headache, frequently having BMs, and exhausted. Today, Day 10, a little nauseous earlier around breakfast and a little bit now, but better after eating! Also, my sense of smell seems to have heightened, which also makes me nauseous. But overall, it's definitely not as bad as I read or as bad as the doctor told me it would be. But honestly, I can't wait to finish!"

The taste is getting really bad in my mouth - I'm on day 7, but I just keep drinking water to get rid of the taste. It's like a zingy, metal taste, raw like I burned my tongue on coffee. I do have cramping about an hour after taking, but then it goes away. I have more bowel movements, but I assume it's just the meds working. It's almost over. Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I was tested for the dreaded H. pylori, and the doc said I had a high amount in my gut. I was prescribed the triple therapy, all prescribed separately, so the cost was generic - $22 with insurance. I dreaded starting this regimen from all the horrific reviews - but I'm on day 2, and so far so good. I do have some explosive diarrhea at times, churning stomach, mild headache, and very tired. I'm hoping the rest of the 12 days will go this smoothly. I'm on holiday break, so I'm taking the time off - I don't see how someone could work a stressful or manual labor job on these drugs. I did take all the advice from this forum - I am taking two Align probiotics a day with several glasses of kefir and yogurt and eating small veggie meals and crackers - nothing acid, spicy, or carb-heavy."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am taking 1000 mg of amoxicillin 2x a day, and 500 mg of clarithromycin 2x a day, and Pepto-Bismol 3x a day. I have had the really yucky taste in my mouth, but can deal with that. I do feel tired a bit more than usual. Do have some bloating off and on. Sometimes I have heartburn, but the symptoms of the H. pylori seem better. My appetite seems better. I am on my 10th day, and now have very severe diarrhea. I didn't think I was ever going to stop going. I'm hoping I don't start having this for the next 4 days as I tend to dehydrate easily. Drinking lots of water as it's suggested not to drink things like Gatorade. This is the second time I am on meds for the H. pylori as the first time I had a severe reaction to the other meds I was given and had to have blood work to be sure my kidneys and liver were not damaged. If I can just get through the next few days, I will be happy and pray this time these meds rid me of the H. pylori."

Amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I am on day 3 out of 14, and I am so miserable. I don't want to continue it, but I have to :'( I pass really stinky gas, horrible diarrhea, nausea, feeling tired most of the time, but worst of all is the weird taste in my mouth. Oh God, when I wake up to it... Probably the reason why I feel so nauseated. Drinking a lot of water, eating candy (tiny M&Ms that come in bottles. For some reason, it helped me... weird, I know), and Listerine PocketPaks all help me with the disgusting, nasty taste so far. I hope it's worth it. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "After a year and a half of in-and-out stomach issues, the symptoms got worse and I got an emergency colonoscopy. After biopsy, H. pylori was proven. Was very happy to be diagnosed, but the next 14 days were so hard. I'm on the last day of treatment and still have nausea, tiredness, and headaches. Tired to an extent that I cannot walk more than 2 minutes. Not to mention the bad taste in my mouth. In between, my headache was so bad that I felt my brain was exploding. Got an urgent acupuncture done to get back to life. Then came Mother Nature, periods. The worst combination ever. Now I am afraid whether all these symptoms will go away and I can get back to normal. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "On the fifth dose, so going into day three. I am so, so sleepy, cannot keep my eyes open. Sleeping most of the day and night, just totally exhausted, can just about drag myself out of bed for the loo. Very pale pee, and yesterday one bout of very bad diarrhea, no movement since, causing more cramping. Awful taste in my mouth, but thank God no nausea. Taking the stomach tablet one hour after antibiotics, and then probiotic after another hour. Seems to be helping. Had this treatment 11/12 years ago for Helicobacter pylori and was very sick with it. Hoping after the 7th day, when I can stop one of the antibiotics, the overwhelming tiredness goes. Pains still there, but not as severe, lots of burping and wind as always."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I started a week's course of omeprazole/metronidazole/clarithromycin twice a day on Friday. As soon as I took them, I was sick, but just liquid came up. Now it's Tuesday, I've had the odd pain in my belly and side. I feel weak and tired. Today, I felt dizzy, now and again, odd pain in my chest. Also, I have panic attacks, but reading reviews seems like it might be the meds, but I didn't know this could be a side effect or if it was that or my blood pressure, as I'm on other meds as well for blood pressure. Plus, I am going for a wee 100 times a day, thinking it's all the water I'm having could get worse over the next few days. Hopefully not like the last antibiotics I had for a tooth infection. I stopped them after 3 days, as I felt rough as anything, but not like this. I am hoping for the best when I'm tested again, as I don't think I can go through this again. I used to get Gaviscon for heartburn from the doctor about 6 years ago. Then I haven't really been bad with my gut, plus I don't understand it as I don't touch spicy or greasy stuff."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "This is in part a response to Chris from the July 7th comment. I am currently taking my antibiotic cocktail and panicked thinking that the antibiotics were making me sick, so launched a search landing me here. I feel absolutely lousy! I have headaches, lethargy, arthritic joints and fingers, stomach cramps/diarrhea, fog brain, and a metallic taste. From reading these comments, I'm guessing this is part of the treatment. I'm determined to see this through because I want this darn bacteria out of my body. Anyway, I hope this helps others. Looking forward to finishing the cocktail, getting on some heavily loaded probiotics, and getting back to my normal life. Definitely asking to be retested soon after because I don't want to give the little nasties a chance to proliferate. I will go at them with another round of the antibiotics. Fingers crossed and only have to do this once."
