For Asthma, Maintenance "My husband started using the Perrigo Albuterol Sulfate, which is the generic brand for ProAir. This product is dangerous! He has experienced 8 of the 15 major side effects of this inhaler: dizziness, muscle soreness, severe chest pains to where we thought he was having a heart attack and went to the hospital, throat dryness and soreness, body shaking (tremors), and he was very cold but had no fever. Please, please do not use this inhaler!"

For Asthma, Maintenance "I'm not sure why this generic inhaler doesn't work properly, but it does not produce the proper amount of medication for each puff. This is the worst inhaler I've ever used and have asked my doctor to switch me back to the other, because this is the worst! I'm having to take four puffs instead of two for it to work, and it makes me all shaky."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Started using albuterol inhalers about three years ago. Seemed to work fine, but over time I noticed I was having certain neurological issues: trembling, lack of coordination, headaches, random pains, lack of concentration, and other symptoms. Had a complete battery of neurological tests, and nothing was found. Quit using the albuterol inhaler, and the symptoms went away gradually after a few weeks. Has anyone else seen these kinds of symptoms?"

Albuterol for Asthma, acute "I was admitted to the hospital for an asthma attack. Had never taken any kind of breathing medication before, even though I'd had trouble with breathing (shortness of breath, tight chest, can't take deep breaths) for a while. I was given Ventolin. I didn't respond to the first few puffs through the inhaler and chamber spacer, so they gave me burst therapy, which involved taking 4-5 puffs every 20 minutes for 2 hours. After the first 40 minutes, I was shaking like crazy, couldn't sit still. This shaking persisted until I went to sleep that night. The Ventolin inhaler they gave me doesn't help - only a very large dose of Ventolin seems to ease the symptoms. Overall, good in high doses for severe asthma but comes with side effects."

Albuterol for Asthma, acute "I personally have had a much better experience than most people with this inhaler - I don't find it difficult to breathe in the powder at all (maybe they changed something because I only started it less than a year ago?) Works better than the HFA inhaler I used to use in terms of helping my breathing and doesn't make my heart rate increase or make me shaky or anxious, which is especially useful when you already have anxiety."

For Bronchospasm Prophylaxis "Albuterol tablet has serious side effects. I have been trembling, extremely tired, muscle weakness, unsettled, and completely abnormal feeling for 24 hours. I had to take off work today due to side effects, not my initial ailment! Please be careful prescribing this, Docs."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I have asthma that is triggered by allergies, stress, illness, and changes in temperature. Albuterol has worked well for years and has saved my life. I get an elevated heart rate and shaky hands for only a few minutes, but my lungs are instantly free and clear for hours after 2 pumps. I will never leave home without it."
