Ventolin HFA (albuterol) for Asthma, Maintenance "In my 40 years of asthma experience, Ventolin has the worst nervous system side effects of any albuterol inhaler I have ever used. (Generic, Proventil, ProAir HFA) I suggest you NOT use it if, like me, you have sensitivity to stimulants (caffeine, etc.), anxiety, adrenal, heart, or panic attack issues, or, like me, it will likely aggravate all of them, even with one dose, as it does for me. With regular use, as my MD directed (because I forgot past experience), my nervous system became so agitated that not only could I not sit still, my whole body felt like it was vibrating and triggered a physiological (not cognitive/emotional) panic attack where I struggled to breathe and my heart rate stayed high and exceeded 175 bpm and stuttered with the slightest physical activity, well above the recommended max of 157 for age 63. Having heart issues as a result."

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "I personally have had a much better experience than most people with this inhaler - I don't find it difficult to breathe in the powder at all (maybe they changed something because I only started it less than a year ago?) Works better than the HFA inhaler I used to use in terms of helping my breathing and doesn't make my heart rate increase or make me shaky or anxious, which is especially useful when you already have anxiety."

For Asthma, acute "I escaped seasonal allergies for most of my life, but upon moving from an East Coast metropolis (no seasonal allergies ever) to the Central Valley in California, I've gone through Allegra, Zyrtec, Benadryl, and Claritin, and am currently on a daily dose of Xyzal and Fluticasone Propionate. However, occasionally my allergies are so severe (precipitated in California by the serious wildfires, here in Arizona during dust storms) that my lungs, in effect, shut down and constrict. For those rare occasions, I use the Ventolin (used five times since March 2015), which helps my lungs relax and the 'tight' feeling in my chest subsides. Downside: racing heartbeat occurs for about 5-10 minutes after dosage. Benefits far outweigh the risk/side effects."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I have asthma that is triggered by allergies, stress, illness, and changes in temperature. Albuterol has worked well for years and has saved my life. I get an elevated heart rate and shaky hands for only a few minutes, but my lungs are instantly free and clear for hours after 2 pumps. I will never leave home without it."

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Asthma, acute "Had no heart racing or itchiness side effects with this product, likely because it wasn't effective either! Had a free coupon to try, will be going back for $50 ProAir...."

ProAir RespiClick (albuterol) for Bronchiectasis "This product (as stated in all the other comments) is simply garbage. I had to Google the product to figure out how it worked, and it just doesn’t. All the “medicine” did was make my heart race. This product gave me no relief in any way."
