For Osteoarthritis "It does take the edge off the pain. Taken every 6 hours, the effects weaken and pain returns after 5-6 hours. Side effects can be dizziness, so do not operate a vehicle, etc. Another side effect can be constipation if taken for more than several days. An OTC stool softener is recommended by my doctor."

For Pain "I have suffered from chronic joint pain my entire life. After trying almost every non-narcotic option there is, I finally was prescribed Tylenol #3. I had been given Vicodin in the past by an NP (despite not really wanting it) and had not found it to be effective. The codeine, though, has made a huge difference. I haven't had any of the negative effects with it (stomach pain, dizziness, etc.), but have gotten a huge amount of pain relief. It isn't extremely strong, it won't take me from a 10 to a 0, but it will get me to a bearable 1 or 2."

For Pain "Went to the ER for fever and strep throat. My back was hurting very badly as well. I was prescribed a few things, but Tylenol 3 for pain. It makes me very groggy and sleepy, and I like that because I'd rather sleep the day away than sit up. Makes me kind of dizzy, but not too bad. Works well for pain and sleep."

For Pain "I was quite sore from excessive coughing from an up-and-down bout with the flu. Took one Tylenol 3 tab as prescribed and was actually able to sit up and move around in bed with no pain. However, it did make me slightly dizzy with mild stomach upset. I would not take it when I have to be up and about. Took it at night anyway so I could rest. I can live with the side effects since it's nighttime and I'm in bed anyway."

For Pain "I took this after my breast reduction surgery for lingering pain. I can say that aside from serious constipation, this works great. I'd describe its effect as 'doesn't really lower the pain level, but makes you not care that you're in pain.' I definitely didn't want to take too much of it -- the constipation sucks, and feeling that 'two drinks in' dizziness isn't exactly fun times -- but for what it was, it did the job."

For Pain "This medicine worked too well for me, my dentist prescribed it due to a root canal. Now I feel dizzy, nauseous, very sleepy. Pain is completely gone, but this worked way too well."

For Pain "Went to the ER for dental pain, was given two Tylenol #3 tablets, caused severe side effects. Very dizzy, nausea, shortness of breath. Not a fan of feeling 'weird.' Hoping it wears off soon."
