I have high levels of anxiety and also have back pain from a number of problems. Will the amitriptyline take care of either or both? Have taken clonazepam and norcos for my symptoms and have now been prescribed amitriptyline and really don't what to expect. My doc also put me on paxil a few months ago and it has done absolutely nothing for my anxiety... clonazepam helped but my doctor took me off of it and I don't really know why. Any tips on how I can get prescribed to it again or something similar like aprozolam??? Have mini panic attacks from time to time and am also afraid to go to public places or to interact in social settings due to my anxiety. Can't sleep because of the constant worrying along with other typical problems associated with anxiety... HELP!!! thx
What will amitriptyline make me feel like?

Hey mtrice,
The amitriptyline is a good choice for all your symptoms including the pain and anxiety. It may not take care of the pain 100% but it may well help. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is prescribed for your symptoms. It may cause some nausea, drowiness, and headache in the beginning. The nausea and headache will usually subside within the first couple of weeks. It could take several weeks before it reaches maximum effectiveness so be patient. If the amitriptyline doesn't work you'll just have to be honest with the doc and maybe he will re prescribe the clonazepam or something like it.
Best wishes,
Laurie
The clonazepam is very mild, like half of a vallium. My son stopped taking the amitriptyline, but continues with the clonazepam. Ask your doctor changed, since you seem to feel that the clonazepam helped you.
Listen to laurashay totally 100% what she said ;))
On amitriptyline has effected my eyesight. I have been trying to get off of it slowly and somedays I spend crying half the day - and wake up daily from anxiety/ panic as I taper off . Anyone who uses any anti depressant needs to understand how they work, what it is that they do to yiur brain and how hard it is to get off them . I have found with every dr. Therapist and psychiatrist they minimize the time it takes to ween iff of these drugs and how long AFTER that It takes for your brain to function normally again. I have visited numerous chat rooms and websites while getting off of Lexapro years ago. I was having serious cognitive problems and back then at 45 years old thought I was experiencing early inset Alzheimer's disease and was terrified . On those chat rooms countless numbers of people were having serious problems with their memory and speech ... I also was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor after the 11 years I was in Lexapro. Coincidence? I will never know for sure . But I am not going to keep quiet about it . Im convinced it really messed me up.
