Seems to me that the common denominator is Ibuprofen. I've had a false positive a few months ago, and it had to have been the ibuprofen. I lost my kids over this.
I'm sick and tired of being told about my drugs tests being positive for stuff I don't even take .. how does this happen . I'm trying to get my son back for god's sake
Tramadol is now a controlled substance. I'm also an RN x 17 yrs. i just had a false positive for codeine . Similar situation
I went to a pain doctor and I tested positive for THC 11ng/ml,I take tramadol and tizanidine hcl 4mg ibuprofen, diphenhydramine hci 25mg,medium 40mg,250\50 advair
I had that happen to me one time years ago for a false positive for amphetamines and I had not taken anything but a script from my dr. he even agreed with the drug test and said it was correct I cried and said I can go to jail for this he said I am sorry so I turned to my pharmacy he told me to get in touch with each drug company that made the drugs I had been prescribed and tell them what happened and ask them for advice it turned out one of the ingredients in one of the cold meds. dr. gave me caused the false positive and the drug company wrote me a letter and I took it in and got cleared but it took a couple weeks to get all this done if it had been just a few more days I would have been waiting in jail. Thank God for his help
How do u go
whenever u take a drug test for anyone u need to tell them any and all medications u have taken in the past 30 days, even though most medications are out of system sooner, and although u would not think matters, you need to list even over the counter meds. if u do this, it can sometimes explain certain results to a doctor. I take drug test for my doctor who prescribes my pain meds and if they know anything you have taken, they r usually aware of things that cause false results or combinations of meds that may show a result that most people would not think. Tramadol though is condidered a narcotic, it use to not be categorized as a controlled substance, yet doctors treated as one, then within past few years it has been officially labeled under controlled drug.
i know before i give my urine sample they verify with me that i have taken my narcotics they prescribe me within 5 days and ask if all meds listed r still accurate if any changes they note them and on the actual paper i sign that what is listed is true, they seperately write the names of each narcotic im still taking and have taken and next to them they also write my allergy medicine, which is generic zyrtec, the list my lyrica and my topamax... so i am assuming those meds can cause a false pos. of something of may interact with my narcotics in some way that could be deceiving. Its crazy because my generic zyrtec is a prescription, but it can be bought over the counter. Some antibiotics can cause false positives... as long as u inform them of everything even if think wouldnt matter... most doctors know what causes what results, so if this is for school and just an instructor, a nurse, is looking at list of ur meds and ur results, you may request that an actual doctor with a specialty in that area take a look at the results... just a thought... good luck
Make them do a GC/MS test. Its the comfirmation test.If the barb metabolite isnt there, then you are negative
Yes, tramadol can. If they only did the screening test, and it was positive, they MUST confirm with a second test, not the same as the first, and it must look for the substance in particular that you tested positive for. Either tramadol or dextromethorphan caused me to test positive for PCP, and I've never even SEEN PCP much less take it. Didn't PCP go out of style in the 70s? Anyway, based on a screen, they can't say for sure you are taking barbituates. They must do a specific test to confirm. FYI I don't see it listed but just wanted you to know the headache drug Fiorinal, and Fioricet, contains barbituates. But if you haven't taken those, its probably the tramadol causing it.
thanks Sg... i need solid proof. They did a second drug test and it still showed up on the test! This is going to ruin my career and i havent done a thing to deserve it!
i feel your pain.im so sorry.i just had a test come back positive for cocaine and there is no way in hell it should have.i admit im in recovery but ive been clean for months.i take one every week and it always comes back clean so i dont understand why this is happening and noone belives me.
I just read a section about some NSAIDS (Motrin) causing false positives for marijuana.
Effexor can cause a false positive for PCP ("angel dust").
