Hey ladyd,
Yes, drink more water and if gets too bad like several days without going use a stool softener or a mild laxative like Philips milk of magnesia. I eat foods high in fiber every morning for breakfast and it works like a charm. You can google "high fiber foods" and there are numerous sites that give a list.
The real key though is to increase your water consumption as Patti mentioned. Other liquids help but not as good as plain old water. Stay away from sodas and other caffeinated drinks as they can be constipating. They actually dehydrate the body.
Good luck,
Laurie
Drink lots more water, eat pulpy fruit and do some exercise. All three things work, if it is really bad, do all three and you can take a stool softener too to make it more comfortable. The phentermine may be causing you to excrete all water, so, the water can't help clean waster from your blood or move you bowels. You have to have that water to do that.
