All i can say is it just shows you how unreliable urine drug screens can be. I'd sickle with the same brand.
No!! The reason that it came back Positive and then negative a few minuets later is because it was a QUICKTEST!!! Urine durg screens are VERY reliable of they are done in a lab! That is why most of the places who still use the quick tests as a pre-test (Methadone Clinics, rehabs, probation officers, etc.) will also send the urine off to a reliable lab to do the more extensive test to make sure!! I don't trust at home quick test because they are unreliable. But a urine drug screen that is done in a lab is extreamly reliable and you can normally trust their results!
I have been getting urine drug screens now for a little over 12 years and I have NEVER had a urine drug screen come back wrong because the clinic that I go to ALWAYS sends them to a reliable lab. They don't do the quick test because they are unreliable.
Please don't rule out Urine drug screens because of the quick tests, they are ONLY a preliminary test, If the urine is tested in a lab, you can be sure that it is reliable!
We did a third test. First one ws quick screen for 12 drugs and it showed positive for oxycodone and benzo's. 2nd was first check for 4 drugs and it came back negative for all. Third was first check for 12 drugs and it too came back positive for benzo's but negative (like the 2nd) for everything including oxycodone. They were all given around the same time and I watched him urinate. I'm going to send the first one out and see what they say. He SWARES he hadn't touched oxicodone since jan and all the pee tests hv been negative except that one today.
That is the best thing to do. Like I said, only a lab urine drug screen will tell you for sure and contrary to what some people will try and tell you, Urine drug screens done at a lab are reliable, but the quick test aren't because they can detect things in the urine that can test as a drug but aren't a drug, like poppy seeds!! When my methadone clinic was still using the quick test before sending the urine off for a preliminary reading, I tested positive for opiates once and I had been clean for about 5 years at that time, (I have a little over 12 years now), they sent my urine out to a lab and I came back negative! I had a sandwich the night before the quick test and the bread had poppy seeds on it and it gave me a false -positive for opiates.
Your boyfriend is very lucky to have you!! It sounds like you are very supportive and believe me, he needs that in order to succeed at staying clean! But do remember that relapse can be part of the recovery process, so if his test does come back from the lab dirty, try not to be too hard on him and try to find out the reason that he used if he did. And if it would come back dirty and he still swares that he didn't use, you can always get a hair strand test done, although they can be expensive.
I wish you both luck and congrats to him for his recovery!! :)

Kaismama... only the quick test urine screens are unreliable!! I have been getting Urine drug screens once a month (required by my methadone clinic), for over 12 years, and some months they can test me every other day for the whole month. The urine is sent to a reliable lab and it is very reliable, in fact I have NEVER had a false positive test from the lab. The only time that urine drug screens are unreliable are when they are the quick tests because they are only a preliminary test. When the sample is sent to a lab it is a more extensive test and they can be as reliable as a blood test if it is sent to a good lab.
brandee, you are correct. I think KM was speaking of the quick tests or "dip stick tests". They are not very accurate but a good gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS) test is very reliable. All positives should be sent for GC-MS confirmation to rule out false positives. It chaps me when Drs discharge patients for having a dirty quick test or point of service test which is just the quick dip stick test in the office. They are not reliable enough to be discharging patients according to their results. But some docs do it. I wouldnt want a Dr who makes decisions based on one of these tests as they KNOW they are not reliable. Always insist that any positives (or negatives for that matter-some people get discharged because their doc DOESNT find their prescribed meds in their urine) be confirmed with a GC-MS test. It is more expensive but it is reliable.
The reason the 2nd test was neg Is BC the 4 or 5 panel doesn't test for oxycodone. Only the 11 and 12 panels do. So I'm not sure if he's being completely truthful. I know this Is an old post but did you ever find out for sure? How long ago did he use b4 the test if it was pos
