I've been taking mirtazapine for 2.5 months and was just curious and made a research on Google and found out that a lot of people who are taking mirtazapine have been getting positive results for benzo. I'm so worried that it'll cause me my job. Has anyone using them and got tested can answer? Thanks

I am on Remeron and continuously am testing positive for benzos. The lab has said it is the Remeron. I am in an independent living program but don't worry if u test positive ask them to send it out to a lab and they can and will be able to identify it as just that. And then on when and if it pops for it they will know!!

It's possible. I am currently taking this medication and I got a false positive for amphetamines.

No, it's highly unlikely. Mirtazapine is not known for causing false positives although a few antidepressants do. If anything, because it's a tetracyclic and distantly related to the tricyclic antidepressants it could potentially show up as an amphetamine but it's never been reported.

PS, whenever you're required to take a urine test you'll be asked if you're taking any medications so that the results can be interpreted correctly.

If your result is "positive" because of an interaction with a legitimate drug that you're taking your boss cannot fire you as long as the result is verified by a professional.
Always be sure to notify the testing agency of what medications you take... a good idea is to bring along your prescription bottle.
