How do I wean myself off of xanax? I have been taking xanax 3 times a day as needed for the past 8?

... years. I started on .25mg tabs and am now on 1mg tabs. I no longer have insurance and cannot afford to see my primary for him to help me wean... I do not want to have to depend on this medication. I also have been told that if I just stop taking it without weaning down I can develop seizures!

I have been taking amitriptyline for 2 days now, for vestibular migraine preventative & depression.?
