Does Ativan lose strength after a while?

I ran out of my prescription of Ativan waiting for OK from doctor. I still have some from before. Do they lose their strength or is it OK to take them which I’ve been doing?

I take Ativan every six hours. In order to avoid potential side effects and risks, can I take tramadol after three hours from the first dose of Ativan and three hours before the second dose of Ativan.
