I've been on Lexapro for 3 weeks now. First 2 weeks was on 5mg then increased to 10mg. Since increasing to 10mg (7 days now) I have noticed more anxiety, constant ringing in ears and major lack of motivation. I just want to lay in bed all day
Is ringing in ears a common side effect of Lexapro?

Hello Blahbumblah,
Some of the behavior you described, is common for this medication. The ringing of the ears, is not.
That could be anything: High blood pressure, low sugar deficiency, dehydration, not eating properly, too much sugar; anything is possible. Then maybe Blahbumblah, it just might be, the neurons in your brain adjusting to the medication. If it continues, along with the side effects from the medication, let your physician know.

It is normal when increasing your dose for you to feel the way you feel as your body is adapting to the antidepressant, if your symptoms persist inform your DR..
Tinnitus is considered an uncommon side effect affecting 0.1% to 1.0% of people being treated with Lexapro.

Thanks for replying. When I was on the 5mg, I noticed an improvement during the second week. Now that I'm 9 days on 10mg I assumed I'd be feeling better by now or at least noticing some improvement :(

You will get there, it takes time for the med to build up in your system and for the full therapeutic effect it may take 4 to 6 weeks and sometimes 8 weeks depending on each individual, everyone reacts differently to meds and you are welcome.
