I have continous belly pain from the mid right side through lower belly to left side. It is relieved somewhat by having a bowel movement. I am wondering if I should try tylenol or Ibuprofen for relief. Thanks!
Should I take pain relievers for gas pains or lower belly pain from IBS?

Simethicone helps me a lot with gas pain. I have IBS-D and frequently have problems with gas. I buy the generic type of simethicone soft-gels. Gas-x is the name brand and is expensive.
I am in the same boat. Even had to go Emergency in January for the pain, thought it was
a heart attack.
There has to be something to cut these pains by at least 50%. I have tried Gas-X, licorice, other
herbs, very little relief, and the gas is really constant, loud, no fun.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am 77 years old, and don't want to go out with a fart.
My stomach spasms 24/7 for weeks at a time. I have Bentyl and Sulcravate (sp) and I have loose stool every morning. The pain is unbelievable, not cramping or diarrhea. It feels as if someone has reached into my gut and twisted every organ in my abdomen.
Did you get relief for this? I am in exact same boat.
Try some Gas-X. I have IBS with the same pain and this works wonders for me. Its not a laxative it just relieves the horrible gas pains.
I hope this helps u.

Hello Granma,
I suggest you talking to your doctor about this since tylenol and ibuprofen can cause constipation and sometimes sharp pain that may increase your belly pain.
I take Librax twice a day now, before breakfast and dinner. was on 3 xs a day but got too sleepy. It helps but sometimes gas pains do happen. Dr,. was "kinda flippant" when I asked... "do whatever works best." so not really sure if this will help me or not. I was mainly looking for those with experience with the problem of continuous discomfort which is what I guess you'd call mine. Thanks so much for your input!
If you have pain in your upper stomach then you need to see your doctor for sure.
I do apologize I couldn't help more. Hopefully other members will be by shortly to help you better. I do hope you feel better soon.
