How long is it safe and effective to use Zofran? Your website says not to use Zofran more often or for a longer period of time than indicated. I can't find anywhere the maximum amount of time it's OK to take this. I take usually 1 or 2 per day when I feel the nausea coming on and have for many months now ... through chemo, surgery, and now with arimadex. I think it's the only thing keeping me from feeling very ill!

I take 4 mg 3 times a day it’s a good preventative nausea medicine for me. I’m a thrower upper. But once I’m in the throws of violently throwing up I need phenergan. But I have severe CPTSD! I’m scared to order a pizza it’s that bad. Nothing works but I got sick from my gallbladder and they prescribed it. Like I said it wasn’t the best I still thrower up but it would buy me time to get home or to a restroom. By the second day I noticed I was extremely calmer. I see drs, therapists & meds. I stay at 70-80% severe anxiety. I noticed I was down to 30-40% calmer. I looked at all my meds and supplements to see what changed. It was the taking zofran daily. I googled it and apparently it has seratonin in it I suppose at a low level because depression meds do not work well for me at all. It has been 40 years of severe anxiety and a nausea Med is what has helped me the most. More than benzodiazepines that don’t even work on me anymore.
Toni dine, I have been taking 8mg to 16mg of Zofran (Ondansetron), daily for over 15 years. I have chronic nausea. I think it is a pretty safe drug. It's not one of my many medications that my doctors have said they would like me to stop. I hope that this helps.
Awesome! Thanks!
Hi Toni
I too take 4 mg tablets of Zofran three to four times a week.
I have to take one 4mg tablet one hour before I take my 1ml injection of Methotrexate weekly. Because methotrexate's ability to cause nausea especially, I must take it again 8 hours after the injection.
If the nausea and vomiting persists the next day, I have to take two more 4mg tablet's eight hours apart.
Like DecemberLisa, my Rheumatologist has never put a restriction on my Zofran.
Good thing too, because I literally cannot stomach the Methotrexate without the Zofran.
I myself have been taking Zofran for a little more than a year.
Take care
bestpup
Thank you.
