Holes in tonsils with yellowish green stinky substance building up in them?

Hi. Just ran into this. Here is the deal with tonsils. The pitting that forms in tonsils can hold food particles and smell nasty. Yes, it is infected but different from a strep infection. Very common. The ENT says that some people knock out the gunk with a water pick. Others gargle. Chunky. My daughter was plagued with this as they don't tend to remove tonsils these days. She ended up having the tonsils removed and hasn't had strep since. This surgery is quite risky for hemorrhage in adults. That is why they did it in kids who had lots of infections as less scar tissue means less possible problems.

The doctor is right. If you wish to pursue surgery get a surgeon who has done plenty. Remember that if a Surgeon says no there is a good reason. Find out why. You just didn't receive enough info from your doctor.

Ahh I suggest you find a new doctor for this doesn't/ isn't normal... I would go to er and have them check it out..you don't want an infection like this spreading anywhere in body... keep us posted but get medical attention asap... infections r nothing to put on the back burner/ ignore... see someone asap..

Its not normal. I'd find another doc. It sounds like your tonsils are infected.
