My doctor just recently made me switch pharmacies.
The manufacturer of the buprenorphine I was taking was teva.
I had no problems with it whatsoever.
Now I’m stuck with Rhodes . This medication is no where near as effective.
I cannot locate the teva brand anywhere else.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good generic. Was wondering about Acorn or sun? Has anyone tried them?
Generic buprenorphine brands?

I was on Akorn brand for seven years. Just like you three pills a day. They worked so well for me. Akorn Pharmaceuticals went bankrupt in March and pulled all their products off the market so I was forced to change. The Rhodes brands made me so sick, and it was like I took nothing at all. People seem to believe that because this company made a very strong painkiller that their buprenorphine tablets would be very strong as well. That is not the case. If you look at the reviews of Purdue/ Rhodes everyone is complaining about the effectiveness of the medication they make not just buprenorphine but all their painkillers as well. I am now on the Hikma brand. it’s still not as effective as the Akorn brand was for me, but it is the only one that makes me the least sick when I take it. I think it’s all the fillers they use, and I have a hard time believing they are making them consistently.
Why would I be so sick on every other brand of the same medication if they all did the same thing? The truth is because of the stigma behind this medication no one will care enough to look into it. I wish you the best and hope you find something that works for you or a pharmacy that will order special for you. I get headaches, nausea, and really not much from them. Things like this are the reason people go back to their old medications, which caused many problems.
I am so surprised to hear what you have said about the Rhodes brand I have been on it for some time now and found it to be excedenly more effective than another brand I was on but can't remember the name believe it was Watson I now only have the choice to use the Akorn brand but would like for you to confirm your results using the Teva brand and the superior results you refer to as compared to the Rhodes brand thank you so much am in trouble and need a refill today but can only get Akorn who is now out of business
Yes teva is absolutely the best brand I have tried to date.
I am in the same boat as you , they now have me on acorn. Tiny little tablets and not to fond of them.
I literally could not tell that I had taken anything with the Rhodes. They were nothing compared to teva.
I’m tired of fighting trying to get whatever brand. Maybe it’s just what your body gets used to. I’m starting to think that.
Your the second or third person that has raved about Rhodes. I also was on sun pharma. Those were comparable to teva, but unfortunately the pharmacy stopped them. Sorry for late response.
Just another response that I think might be helpful Rhodes is made by Purdue the manufacturer of oxycontin brand name they know pain medicine also you will not be able to get Akorn anymore or soon they filled for bankruptcy and my pharmacy said they could no longer even able to order it that leaves Sun which I have read in the past the manufacturer had some problems with contamination but that was some time back when I was researching most effective brands Rhodes kept coming up as very effective I am trying to figure out where I received allot of information on different brands and their effectiveness I will keep you posted one more quick thought find out the phone number for Teva the manufacturer and call them directly and ask them what the situation is for you to be able to get what your using I did that and found out that they didn't have a problem with supply the reason I was not able to get the medication was the fault of the wholesaler the pharmacy was using dropped the ...
ball and did not order it in time for the place the pharmacy was ordering from McKesson just didn't place an order in time for them to not run out and the delivery time from the manufacturer to the drug wholesaler was an unbelievable 3weeks
I have always gotten Rhodes patches when it first was on the market. Back then the manufacturer called it Butrans. So it seems strange that a generic would be stronger than the original, but anything is possible. I have had no problem with them. I have read however that when you have been using it for a long time, the buprenorphine can be less effective. That may explain why in the past, each time I reduced the patch strength, I had all over body pain for about a month. This time after reducing it, I had no withdrawal pain at all.
Why did your doctor want you to switch pharmacies? I have never heard of that. Health insurance companies will sometimes offer lower prices at their chosen pharmacies.
Perhaps a solution would be to increase your patch strength. What is the strength amount that you are currently using?
Good luck!
Yes it is very weird that they made me change pharmacies. He said that they were having trouble with them , they were not filling prescriptions for other people.
They currently have me on 8mg 3 x a day.
Pill form not patches. Thank you for your reply!
Sorry, pills are very different from the patches. You must have very severe pain. I hope that you can get proper relief. I wish you the best with that.
