I don't know if I can do it - I get anxious, panicky, and cry for no reason. Can anyone please tell me what to expect, based on your experience? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you
Effexor XR - My doc is slowly weaning me off effexor from 187mg to 150mg and it's only been a week?

Can I ask why he’s trying to wean you off of Effexor? Is it working for you? The reason I ask is because my Dr wanted me to try another med because it was “newer” or something I can’t remember.
He tried two different times in two different ways. One was a slow wean with no other med accompanying the wean. The other was slow but using another med with it. Both times was a disaster!
I changed Dr’s and he asked me why was I even trying to get weaned off. I said “well I don’t like the idea of being on medication.” He proceeded to convince me that it was obviously working so leave it alone. So I did. I have now been on Effexor for 17 years. I still don’t have migraines much anymore. I feel good. Going off of it was a horrible experience. One that is filled with side effects that are frightening. Brain zaps! Headaches. Diarrhea. Shaky. Dizziness. Awful stuff!
If you continue to follow his advice I wish you courage and strength.
Thank you for your feedback :)
