I currently take 150mg Effexor XR for depression, GAD, and panic disorder. Today my doctor added 10mg Buspar 3x a day, as well as 5mg Lexapro (he said it’ll help the anxiety). My depression has been really bad lately and I read on multiple websites that Buspar can help antidepressants fight depression. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks!
Will adding 30mg Buspar help 150mg Effexor XR treat my depression?

I take 75 mg Effexor and my Dr. Added (3)-10 mg Buspar daily, I have been on it ~4.5 months now and my anxiety has improved so much I was able to go on vacation to DC with my husband for our 25th anniversary just last week! Please believe me when I say this was seemingly impossible 4 months ago. I still have some days that the depression is still an issue but 4 months ago I stayed in bed almost every hour of every day! The Buspar to me has made a difference as clear as night and day!
I've never taken Effexor or Buspar but I've been on Lexapro for a little while now and have found it to be very helpful with my depression. Like all psych meds, it takes a while to build up in your system so the results aren't immediate, and 5mg is a very low dose but I have no clue how it will react with the other medications...
This is only my reaction to Buspar and Effexor. You may be different. I found that taking those 2 together only intensified my anxiety. Pacing, sweating, uncontrollable muscle spasms, racing thoughts and fast speech that sometimes didn't make any sense. It didn't help my depression at all. If anything it made everything worse because I would worry every time I took it that I would hurt myself because I don't do well with anxiety and add suicidal tendencies to the mix and its just scary. I hate being on any type of medication. However, I done well with just the Effexor and Celexa that I was prescribed for depression. I'm currently kicked out of the mental health facility here in town so I've been without medication for a few months. So take this response how you will.
