I haven't seen any posts about that. It was prescribed to me and all it's doing after two weeks is causing nausea/malaise, stomach upset and disrupted sleep. Wonderful.

The medication "BUSPIRONE" (i.e., considered a safer and less additive medication than Benzodiazepines) has been available for several years, if not decades, with few to no significant side-effect being reported, thus it is considered quite safe, and a safer alternative to Benzodiazepines (i.e., not as addictive). However, in my case I was prescribed "BUSPIRONE" as a replacement for "CLONAZEPAM" due to my being on opioid pain medicines also, and the combination is considered risky due to its sedation effects in conjunction with opioids (i.e., respiratory - shallow breathing, etc.). Consequently, within two months of that time I was diagnosed with gallbladder issues, with my gallbladder being removed within the following month.
Upon follow-up appointments with the surgeon, I continued to complain of similar pain symptoms that the gallbladder issue had caused, with the surgeon somewhat brushing off my concerns, assuming that these issues would cease eventually! However, the symptoms continued for several months (i.e., six to eight), with my new primary care Doctor then then ordering a series of test: CT scan of my abdomen, a Colonostemy, and an extensive series of Blood work-ups. Both the Ct scan and Colonostemy came back clean, with no issues; however, the Blood work came back with an unexpected result: The "BUSPIRONE", which had been started three months prior to the gallbladder removal, was shutting-down my liver (i.e., a potential side-effect, but extremely rare). I was then put back on the "CLONAZEPAM", and the "BUSPIRONE" was discontinued. Within a months time, all of my abdominal issues had ceased! In conclusion, it would be extremely rare that the medication is causing liver issues as with me, but everyone's body can react differently to any medication; however, as you are experiencing - one of the commonly known side-effects of "BUSPIRONE" is: sleep problems (insomnia), nausea, and upset stomach! Ask your Doctor to confirm these potential side-effects, with him then perhaps placing you on one of the traditional Benzodiazepines?
Sincerely, and I hope that this gives you a starting point, smchurch <smchurch@hotmail.com>
Hi, thanks for responding. I read that the side effects I'm experiencing are in the 10% range, but that could still be a lot of people out of all who take it. I'm not familiar with the Benzodiazepines but I'll research them. I've been more focused on the seratonin drugs. I think rather than just stop it I'll cut back to twice a day and skip the night-time dose. Thanks again
Yes, I have IBS and anxiety. I’ve been on Buspirone with great success for over 20 years. It’s been a fantastic medication with very few side effects. It does take a good 4-6 weeks to start feeling its full effects. When my IBS gets bad, I still typically have one or two bouts a year, I do have to take Levsin. Buspirone has never made me nauseous or upset my sleep. My anxiety used to do that however. We are all different, I hope this helps.
Thanks, I'm glad it worked for you. Not so sure it's working for me or that I want to suffer weeks more of misery just to find out it doesn't work anyway. Thanks for responding.
My experience with busporine has not been good but my Dr has stated that it takes a while for you to start getting any effects from it this medication is generally given to people who are on Diazepam to get them off
