Don't know what IBS is but I will be trying to inform everyone that this drug is dangerous.
It makes you want to die and it's the most debilitating feeling I've ever had with thoughts of madness and complete hopelessness. It is disgusting that this is still prescribed.
The thing to remember is that it can cause tardive dyskinesia. You couldn't pay me to take it either, not with the cramping and the td.
I have IBS with severe colon spasms and after reading how metoclopramide works (it increases muscle contractions in the upper digestive tract which speeds up the rate at which the stomach empties into the intestines) you could NOT get me to take it if you paid me as my digestive system works too fast half the time as it is.
I do still get acid reflux and heartburn though and usually a cup of ginger tea helps but when it doesn't I take an OTC pill containing ranitidine and that works every time.
Ah I see. With my ibs I dont get cramps or spasms or any pain at all really :/ just when i eat the trigger foods I have to go to the bathroom 20 mins later and can go again 3 times an hour for the next 3 hours after that. Im hoping Itll be ok for me. Ive been using otc ranitidine pills when I have acid but its almost certainly every day so id rather prevent it happening than wait til it happens as it makes me nauseous for ages :(
you can take ranitidine as a preventative by taking it twice a day and there is Rx strength ranitidine which is what my hubbie uses.
Oh I see :) thanks for the info I may try that if what dr has prescribed doesnt agree with me :)
