I have been taking Linzess for a month. I have tried not taking Linzess every day due to cost and the inconvenience it causes due to diarrhea the first few hours after taking. I feel like a completely different person while taking Linzess, but I don't like being "dependent" on a medication.
Can my body become dependent on linzess to have bowel movements?

You know, sometimes people cut off their noses to spite their faces, you feel better when you take it but you don't want to be "dependent" on medication. So you'd rather feel miserable? Its not going to make you dependent on it. Obviously the doctor thought you needed it. If is the cost, have you tried to get assistance paying for it? Forest pharmaceuticals has patient assistance.
This is a good question and I agree about being dependent on it. I am trying to find more natural ways myself until I find an answer to this question. I know the less the body is forced to do, the less it will do.
IF my chronic long time constipation could be dealt with "naturally"--considering all "body" dysfunctions personally I cannot get rid of--I would of course pick natural over drug... but I have pretty much tried everything I could afford naturally, without good luck. So hopefully Linzess will be a solution for awhile. I think, ironically, the PAIN I have lived with that cannot be stopped with any drug I know of, probably has more benefit to me. NOTHING ever , for many years, has stopped the belly pain...
