My son safely tapered off of Abilify. Last dose of 2.5 mg was on Saturday August 4th... Here are my questions:
1. How long does Abilify stay in his system?
2 Is there any withdrawal symptoms I should look for as the medication is exiting his system?
He is 17, non verbal and profoundly disabled.
Thank you!

This was also my question. I stopped Abilify just a week ago. And this morning I'm having racing thoughts. My Dr. started me on Lamictal as well the same day which was 10-22-13. I stopped Abilify because I'm afraid of the future effects it may have on my system. So are you all saying, it may still be in my system? I was taking just 5 mg a day. Someone please give me an answer. Thank you.
Abilify is a long acting med and he may well not have any appreciably noticeable symptoms from discontinuing this medication for several weeks. While he may not experience any "withdrawal" symptoms, he may have an increase in aggressive behavior, depression and/or mania.
Hello bunny42. By now the drug has left his system in as far as working to any degree. He might feel depressed as depression is a withdrawl symptom. Insomnia is another withdrawl symptom. As well as possible hallucinations and various stages of manic/mania. Regards, pledge
