my 300 mg pill at Noon and I just took another 300 mg now at about 5 pm. I have heard that bupropion can cause seizures if taken in high doses. Should I call my doctor and tell him that I took 2 doses in the same day?
I take 300 mg of generic bupropion a day. Today accidentally, I took?

As someone else said, I know this post is old but wanted to share my experience. I accidentally took 2 Wellbutrin 300mg XL within about 9 hours of each other. After I realized, I immediately made myself vomit and drank a lot of water. As I read more articles & forums, the chance of seizure is possible but low.
I know medication works differently on everyone. The only side effect I had was a crying spell a few hours afterward, but that was it.
I recommend you contact your physician or go to the ER right away due to the fairly high incidence of hallucinations, seizures and other Neuro problems at high dosage. Overdose of Buproprion can be quite serious, with seizures occurring as late as 24-36 hours after the medication error. There is no antidote that I'm aware of but you may need to be closely monitored for your safety. Good luck to you. Let us know you're ok. Like Kai's MaMa said, invest in a med box or a tracking system to avoid this type of scare in the future!
Hi 4N Substances,
I am still OK and I am home now taking it easy. It's been 4 1/2 hrs. since I took the 2nd bupropion 300mg pill. Hopefully, I'll be OK. I have a bad headache but other than that I feel OK. I usually take a 1 mg clonozepam before bed to help me sleep, do you think it would be OK to take the clonozepam after what happened with the double dose of bupropion? Thanks for your help.
Were you okay? Just did the same thing only I took the pill out of the bottle twice. I need to start using a pill box. I've never done this before. My brain is tingling and my face is warm. Should I just wait it out?
Ok I believe I just did the same thing. If I took it early it would have been almost 8 hours ago. I counted my pills so I should be ok but I'm being paranoid now. How did you do?
I just started Korlym 4 days ago. I have been taking it at night. I forgot I had already taken it. I take 300mg. I took another pill. Ugh... I am worried about my blood sugar dropping overnight. Should I stay awake and monitor? The pill box... I will get one tomorrow... so easy

I realize this is a VERY old post, however, I came across this while researching the same subject- so this may be of help to any others that also come across this, because the comment I’m replying to is not entirely accurate.
She had clonazepam as well, which is FDA approved for seizure prevention due to being an anticonvulsant.
Despite whether or not one has access to clonazepam or other benzodiazepine, it’s still incorrect to state there is no “anecdote” or “nothing can be done” to prevent the likelihood of a seizure in the event one takes an extra dose of bupropion.
I’m not a doctor nor do I mean to sound like a know it all, I just really felt the need to help clarify this matter. Not medical advice.
I would because you are right, more then 300 mg can cause seizures. Why not get yourself a weekly pill box so you know if you took them or not. Then things like this won't happen. Walmart has them for $1
Hi Kaismama,
Thanks for your answer. I have a weekly pill box and refill it on Saturdays but I take am and pm pills so I took my morning 300 mg of wellbutrin and refilled my pill box and then went out for the day. When I got home, I went to take my singulair and saw the bupropion in my pillbox so I took it right away because I know that it can cause insomnia if taken too late. After taking it, I realized that I had already taken it in the morning and now I am afraid of the chance of a seizure. I called the pharmacy and the pharmacist said that I would most likely be OK. She said that 600 mg is not an overdose. She said to expect dizziness and a headache and also mentioned to not take the bupropion tomorrow. I just hope she is right and I am OK. I am really scared and now my husband and I are going to BJ's and I hope I don't fall down or anything. I think I will have to get a pill box with an AM and PM dispenser. This is just crazy, but thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it.
At least your husband is with you. Chances are good you'll be ok, its just there is the chance of seizure over 300 mg. When I fill my pill box, I don't fill the day that I am in, so that I don't do that.
I am OK still and I am home now taking it easy. It's been 4 1/2 hrs. since I took the 2nd bupropion 300mg pill. Hopefully, I'll be alright. I have a bad headache but other than that I feel OK. I usually take a 1 mg of clonozepam before bed to help me sleep, do you think it would be OK to take the clonozepam after what happened with the double dose of bupropion? Oh, I think what you do is a good idea... about your pill container, not filling up the day you are in. That is what I have to do, makes sense. I don't know why I didn't think of that, embarrassing! Anyway, thank you again for your suggestions and kindness. : )
