What is the difference between Vyvgart and Vyvgart Hytrulo?
Vyvgart and Vyvgart Hytrulo both contain the same active ingredient, efgartigimod, but there are differences in their uses and the way they are given.
- Vyvgart Hytrulo also contains hyaluronidase and forms part of a drug delivery technology called Halozyme's ENHANZE that allows under-the-skin (subcutaneous) injection of larger volumes of medication.
- This allows Vyvgart Hytrulo to be given by a subcutaneous (SC) injection rather than intravenous (IV) infusion.
- Vyvgart Hytrulo offers more convenience for patients because it can be self-administered in 20 to 30 seconds using the prefilled syringe.
- Vyvgart needs to be administered by a healthcare provider by intravenous infusion and takes approximately 1 hour.
- Both Vyvgart and Vyvgart Hytrulo work the same way in your body.
Vyvgart vs Vyvgart Hytrulo uses
Both Vyvgart and Vyvgart Hytrulo may be used to treat generalized myasthenia gravis (gMg).
- Vyvgart Hytrulo is also FDA-approved to treat chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP).
Vyvgart vs Vyvgart Hytrulo administration
Vyvgart is administered through an IV infusion at a healthcare facility. The infusion takes about 1 hour.
Vyvgart Hytrulo is administered as an injection under the skin. A prefilled syringe for self-injection is available that can be self administered by a patient after proper instruction in subcutaneous injection technique. It may also be given by a caregiver or a healthcare professional. The injection takes 20 to 30 seconds when using the prefilled syringe or 30 to 90 seconds when using the vial with an infusion set.
Vyvgart vs Vyvgart Hytrulo dosing
Both Vyvgart and Vyvgart Hytrulo are usually given once a week for 4 weeks as one treatment cycle when used for gMg.
