Breztri Aerosphere aerosol inhaler contains either 120 or 28 inhalations. This depends on the size of your inhaler. The canister has an attached dose counter that shows how many puffs are remaining. There is a pointer in the dose indicator display that moves after each puff. Whenever you spray a puff of medication out of the inhaler, the dose indicator will count down by one.

When the pointer is in the yellow zone, this means the inhaler is almost out of puffs and you should order a refill.

Breztri Aerosphere (budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol) inhaler should be thrown away when the pointer is at zero in the red zone, or after 3 months (for the 120-puff inhaler) or 3 weeks (for the 28-puff inhaler) since you have removed the inhaler from the foil pouch.

What is Breztri Aerosphere?

Breztri Aerosphere is a prescription aerosol inhaler that may be used for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. It contains three ingredients:

  • Budesonide (a corticosteroid)
  • Glycopyrrolate (a long-acting muscarinic antagonist, or LAMA)
  • Formoterol fumarate (a long-acting beta agonist, or LABA)

Each puff contains 160 mcg of budesonide, 9 mcg of glycopyrrolate, and 4.8 mcg of formoterol fumarate per inhalation. The inhaler delivers medication into your lungs through a fine mist that you breathe in. As a result, inflammation is decreased and your airways open up so you can breathe easier.

Breztri Aerosphere is not used to treat sudden breathing symptoms of COPD. Make sure to have a rescue inhaler (a short-acting bronchodilator like albuterol) with you at all times to treat sudden symptoms. Contact your healthcare provider if your breathing symptoms are worsening during your treatment with Breztri Aerosphere or if you do not have a rescue inhaler.

How long does Breztri Aerosphere inhaler last?

Breztri Aerosphere inhaler comes in two sizes: 120 inhalations per canister or 28 inhalations per canister. Since it is usually prescribed to take 2 puffs twice a day (a total of 4 puffs per day), the larger inhaler that contains 120 puffs lasts about 1 month while the smaller inhaler that contains 28 puffs lasts about 1 week. This can vary depending on how often you need to prime the inhaler. Always check the dose counter at the top of the canister to see how many puffs you have left.

Even if you still have medication inside your inhaler, remember to throw it away after it has been 3 months for the 120-puff inhaler or 3 weeks for the 28-day inhaler since removing it from the foil pouch.
