This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Isovue-200 (iopamidol)
- Probuphine (buprenorphine)
Interactions between your drugs
buprenorphine iopamidol
Applies to: Probuphine (buprenorphine) and Isovue-200 (iopamidol)
Before you undergo any imaging procedure where iopamidol may be injected directly into the spine, let your doctor know if you are currently being treated with buprenorphine. Injection of iopamidol into the spine can sometimes cause seizures, and the risk may be increased if you are also using other medications that can cause seizures such as buprenorphine. You may be more susceptible if you are elderly, undergoing alcohol or drug withdrawal, have a history of seizures, or have a condition affecting the central nervous system such as a brain tumor or head trauma. Your doctor may want to withhold buprenorphine for a certain length of time before and after the procedure, or you may need to be monitored more closely during the procedure. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
buprenorphine food
Applies to: Probuphine (buprenorphine)
Using buprenorphine together with other medications that also cause central nervous system depression can lead to serious side effects such as respiratory distress, coma, and even death. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. Do not drink alcohol or self-medicate with these medications without your doctor's approval, and do not exceed the doses or frequency and duration of use prescribed by your doctor. Also, you should avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how these medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
