"Avoid this drug at all costs. I have a panic disorder which is quite severe one of the worst symptoms is agoraphobia which was bad before I took trazodone now i do not leave the house whatsoever. Firstly does this help your condition? In my case no it made it far more severe and has set me back months possibly years. Are there side effects? Yes with a capital Y. You may end up with a heartbeat that feels like your heart is about to burst out your chest for 4-5 hours immediately after taking it so forget sleep the minutest of movements and your heart continues to pound rapidly. You will feel weak, light headed, dizzy pretty much all the time. I was nauseous had extreme photosensitivity, seizures, a break from reality for two days I was doing and saying things I do not remember unfortunately. The NHS I had very little help. The worst thing is it made me and I still am suicidal avoid this awful drug."

"I was prescribed 100mgs Trazodone for anxiety in March 21. Don't like taking drugs, only took half the dose. I have not been right since and am desperately trying to taper off. 3 weeks after starting I developed tinnitus which is totally debilitating. I have brain fog, feel awful and my quality of life is near zero. Had numerous blood tests to rule out any other illness. All came back negative. The sooner I get off this awful drug the better. Hope I can recover my old self!"

"I took this yesterday afternoon for extreme anxiety and restlessness. After 20 minutes it kicked in and I felt extremely irritable and annoyed, so sleepy I couldn’t keep my eyes open, I had this constant feeling of needing to move but I was freaking EXHAUSTED at the same time! I took 9 naps yesterday evening including sleep and I also dozed off while trying to make coffee. It’s been 13 hours and I still feel insanely tired. I won’t take trazodone ever AGAIN!!! 2/10 for calming my anxiety down somewhat."

"over the last 2 years anxiety, panic attacks, stress levels & insomnia have creeped in with vengeance. At first the Dr put me on mirtazapine which didn't work for me at all -awful side effects, it made me really restless, snappy & totally lowered my mood more then it already was before starting the medication. The Dr then put me on 50mg trazodone which so far I have only been using for 2 weeks. So far for me personally it hasn't worked any sort of wonders, the only way I can describe It is that I don't feel so much all over the place if that makes sense and unfortunately it hasn't helped with my sleep at all. But I'm only on my second week in, hopefully after another few weeks it might start to balance its self out."

"Trazadone is horrific. It is not effective at all towards depression and anxiety and in my experience was even questionable in its help towards sleep/insomnia. If anything, it made my depression and low moods a lot worse and my anxiety tripled tenfold, and got out of control. For the three long weeks I was on it I constantly felt spaced out, like I was never really present and was living on a different planet. That in itself is a really horrible side effect. It was no use to me, I've been switched to mirtazapine and the 6 days I've been out it have been far more positive than the weeks I tried to stick out trazadone. for me it didn't work as an antidepressant and the side effects are too long and unmanageable. You might find it better but my advice would be to steer clear."

"I have been talking 50mg Trazadone for 5 weeks now for anxiety. It does make me fall asleep rather suddenly however the sleep is not restful. Initially I thought it was because I had just started taking it, however it has not improved. About 3 to 4 weeks in I started having a tight painful jaw. (Have experienced same with Nuzak). I also wake up with a mild headache but this does ease in about an hour later. I don’t feel it has has helped with my anxiety. It seems to have made me feel a bit depressed and moody. I pushed though for a few weeks but the side effects have not even eased and not even slight improvement with anxiety. I have decided to stop taking and hopefully will not have bad withdrawal symptoms seeing it was a lower dosage."

"Unfortunately I had to experience trazodone in my life due to stress and anxiety. Can't fault or praise it. From my 3 months experience, taking 1 dose of 50mg at bedtime, I can concur the following: A) Helped me sleep 8 hrs straight, without waking up but I also sleep the same after stopping it. It seems it created a sleep pattern for me, which I need it badly. B) It increased my health anxiety due to often palpitations and irregular breathing. C) Started getting dizzy and being restless towards the end of my 3rd month taking it. Decided to stop taking it after completing 3 months. I've lowered the dose to 25mg for 1 week and stopped completely after. Overall experience.....never again on pills for anxiety. Rather dealing with it on my own."

"I have bad anxiety and insomnia, my doctor prescribed trazadone and the first few nights it did help, however I soon found out that I am allergic to this medication and can no longer take it. I would wake up with itchy and watery eyes, sore throat, and coughing, (it wasn't COVID, because when I stopped taking it for two nights I was fine, than when I started taking it again, that was confirmation I was allergic to it.)"

"Last night I took my first trazodone prescribed by my doctor to take 'as needed' I use a general Sleep Aid and sometimes supplement with L-Theanine which reduces anxiety. My prescription is 50mg so I cut it in half just to be sure I didn't overload.  An hour later it started to kick in, then things went to bad  1. Unable to walk or lift, anything, unable to undress since hands and limbs wouldn't work, too dizzy, falling; 2. immediately broke out into HUGE sweat; heart was kicking; 3. THEN INTENSE PAIN up back, chest, arms and legs; 4. Sudden VERY intense nausea and stomach pain, spit filled my mouth so I had to hover over the toilet bowl. Literally crawled to my bed but didn't DARE lay flat; had to stay seated and wait everything out until it finally eased.  Slept like I normally do, no change in that.  I will NOT be using this again.  Terrified, I'd have to call an ambulance."

"I tried this for a couple days. I have idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF - a lung disease). It caused my mucus to double. So I had to stop til the figure out what to do. I was using trazodone for anxiety and to sleep. It says in the side effects increased mucus could happen. Anyone else experience this? Thank you!"

"In 2015, the Paxil I had been on for 11 years stopped working. So, I was put on an SNRI because my doctor felt SSRIs weren't working anymore for me after trying a few and were not helping. The Pristiq I was on helped maybe 50%, but I was still very sick. I was then prescribed Trazodone, and whatever panic attacks I had were gone. The grogginess was pretty severe for me, so I was then prescribed Wellbutrin. It's helped me wake up. So, all three seem to balance each other for my depression, panic, and sleep disorders, and overall general mood. Another thing I've noticed is that Trazodone is still effective after 8 years at 50mg. I recommend Trazodone if other medications have stopped responding or if you have a combination of sleep and depression/anxiety."
