For Menstrual Disorders "I was prescribed tranexamic acid because of my debilitating periods. I am 45 years old and feel like I am 14 just starting my period again. Huge blood clots, heavy flow for 4 to 5 days, just a horrible mess. I admit I was afraid of the side effects, but just after 1 day I feel alright, I feel a bit drowsy but manageable. My flow is less than half of what it used to be. I take 650 mg of Motrin every 8 hours with the tranexamic, and it has been a game changer for sure. This was the first option my doctor wanted me to take, second was the IUD and last being surgery. So far I am pretty happy!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I love this medication. I bleed super heavy during my cycle. A pad and tampon will last for an hour at most. My doctor wants to do ablation surgery, but I wanted to try the medicine first. It really reduced the bleeding, but my periods went from 9 days to 13. However, they are light days, so I'm happy. For the first 4 months, I got a headache with each dose, but now that has gone away."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "This is a follow-up review on my own review from 2019-08-18, 'I'm HeavyFlowFibroids.' It's been two more cycles of this pill (2 every 8 hours up to 5 days), and it still works for me by reducing the flow by at least 40%. Instead of changing a level 5 maxi pad every 30 minutes, I can go 2 hours. Only side effect is a mild headache. I still think this is a lifesaver and recommend giving it a go if birth control didn't work for you either."

Tranexamic acid for Menstrual Disorders "I had horrible reactions to this medication, which landed me back in the hospital ER twice. Nine days later, my body is still struggling to get this drug out of my system. I will never take it again. If you have a reaction to it, there is no reversing it. Use caution."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have severe adenomyosis for more than 15 years. My uterus is as big as a 4-month-pregnant uterus would be. I am prescribed tranexamic acid because I have extremely heavy menstrual bleeding. I was on norethindrone for about 56 months, and then I received a Lupron shot (last resort) before I started tranexamic acid because somehow Lupron didn't stop my bleeding even after 4 weeks. Tranexamic acid didn't seem to work for me. I was on 6 tablets a day, and I usually take it at 8 am, 4 pm, and 11 pm (before going to bed). My bleeding would be lighter during the day, but sometime after 5 pm, I'd start seeing very heavy bleeding with blood clots. It's been going like this for a few days, and I've been to the ER twice and received a blood transfusion because I lost too much blood."

For Menstrual Disorders "Dr. prescribed this for heavy periods, clotting due to fibroids. Used to have to change pad (no use for tampon...flow too much) every 45 minutes. It worked within hours of taking. Now on 3rd month. First 2 cycles were heavy. Third one has been some light spotting and cramping but hardly anything! I haven't taken a single pill in over a month. Very pleased."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I went through a good year or so of extremely heavy monthly menstruation. One cycle, I happened to be in Paris, and I was desperate. Unable to do anything and feeling more or less bound to my room, I started researching. Researching a cure for this heavy and debilitating bleeding. I started my research and came across a UK medical site that referenced tranexamic acid and people's personal reviews regarding this drug. I walked into a pharmacy in Paris with my iPad in hand, with only a hope in mind. They had it, I bought it, and took it. Within less than 30 minutes, my extreme bleeding had stopped and I got my life back! I don't know how safe this medication is, but I have read nothing negative so far."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "Took tranexamic for one day only and developed severe side effects - numbness in the limbs, prickly skin, stabbing pains in the legs, arms, and abdomen, disturbed vision, confusion, disorientation, headache, blood clot has developed in left hand, keep getting loss of feeling in left arm. Was so severe after taking for just one day a paramedic had to be called because my husband thought I was having a stroke. Emergency GP has told me to go straight to the hospital if I don’t get better or start getting hot or swelling. Five days later still got the horrible and very scary side effects and wondering if they will ever wear off. Worst and scariest experience ever and it’s not over yet and don’t know when it will be."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have been using it for a year now only on the heavy days of my period. 3 times a day for the 2 middle days. I've had quite severe anemia and only a 20-day cycle, which means 7 days bleeding, a couple of weeks rest, and here we go again. This is a great medication. Reduced my bleeding and helps me get on with my life while on it. Highly recommend."

For Menstrual Disorders "This is a terrific medication for me. I take it for excessively heavy monthly periods. Normally, they are so heavy I can't leave the house for a day or two. This really has helped me to deal with the problem without taking hormones or having to have a hysterectomy. I have had no side effects whatsoever and find it very tolerable."

For Menstrual Disorders "I started taking this medicine Monday, and by Tuesday, the bleeding had stopped. I'd gotten very worried because my period had come 10 days early and was very heavy. The side effects I've got are headaches and diarrhea, but a small price to pay to be period-free for a while."

For Melasma "My dermatologist in the Philippines has prescribed it for my melasma for 3 months. After a month and a half, I have seen a significant decrease, then it disappeared after 3 months. But as soon as I stopped using it, my brown spots started coming back again, even with continued sunscreen. The side effects I experienced were a slight increase in my blood pressure and anemia."

For Menstrual Disorders "I was told by my GYN that this was a very effective and safe drug. My periods were extremely heavy. I would have a flow so heavy in a 24-hour period that most women would experience in 5 to 7 days! So I was desperate. After taking this medicine, I experienced the worst cramping of my life and migraines for 3 days AFTER I was finished. Now I have been spotting one full week after my period, which has never happened before. Not for me. Will never use this again."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "My doctor prescribed me TA for my heavy periods. I am taking it for 3 months now, and I must say that my life is much easier. My period lasts for 7 days, but I am taking TA for only 4 days, as I figured out that taking them only 4 days is enough, as those days are the worst anyway. My dosage is 2 tablets 3 times a day (500 mg each tablet). The only difference I noticed is that my period each month is slightly late, for example, this month was late 9 days, and the previous two months were late for 5 days. I am married, and I have never been pregnant. I don't know if TA has any impact on your fertility, but I can say that it might make it a little bit difficult to trace ovulation days because you cannot be sure how long your period will be late."

Tranexamic acid for Bleeding Disorder "I am 49 years young and was prescribed this med for long-lasting, extremely heavy, clotting periods. At my wit's end, the doctor prescribed 2 tabs (TDS) 3x daily. It has been 24 hours now, what an improvement! I noticed improvement overnight. I went from using super pads every 2 hours to a panty liner today. No side effects (as yet). What a relief! I won't use it all the time, but it's good to have on hand when needed."

For Menstrual Disorders "Tranexamic acid stops my heavy bleeding. I take it 3 times a day, and I take it only one day, and it stops my bleeding. Otherwise, my bleeding never stops, not even any birth control pills help. It stops my bleeding, so I am happy to use it. But take the original brand, as the generic never helped me."

For Menstrual Disorders "I started this medication 3 days ago, I just took the last dose. I don't see that it's helping at all. The bleeding slows down a little during the day, but it's super heavy when I wake up in the morning. I was cramping before the medicine, so I won't say that it's affecting that. I'm not sure I like this medicine. How many days do I need to take it before the bleeding slows completely?"

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I have PCOS and endometriosis, I've had two laparoscopic surgeries, two coils fitted, but both came out. I've also had Zoladex injections, but they're not safe long term, though they did make me feel normal while I was on them. I was prescribed tranexamic acid on day 18 of my period. Now I'm on day 22, and I have the heaviest bleeding I've had in my life, cramps that would make a horse faint, and bloating so bad I can't get my jeans on. I've also had my first nosebleed in 3 years. The current health crisis of COVID-19 means I can't access healthcare the way I normally would, otherwise, I'd be back at my GP because I've never had it this bad. In short, this is not working for me - I feel significantly worse now than before I started Tx."

For Menstrual Disorders "My experience using tranexamic acid for heavy periods. I find this medication good as it has reduced my heavy bleeding quite a lot, of course, I still bleed, but I have to have a period, right? I take 4 tablets a day of 500 mg, 2 in the morning and 2 at night. I don't have any side effects. This is my second month of being on it. Great medication."

For Melasma "Side effect concerns: After three days of taking 325 mg twice a day, I became lightheaded, rapid heart rate (like it was going to jump out of my body), and extreme tiredness. I stopped on day four, and this may be unrelated, but I have a bad leg cramp in my calf. Concerns of a blood clot are high for me (no medical professional has looked at my leg yet)."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "Just turned 40. Periods have been extremely heavy with clots galore and horrible cramps since high school. I've tried four different types of birth control pills, tried the depo shot, and tried Mirena; nothing worked. I feel like when studies say 'nine out of ten people' that I'm always the one person it didn't work for, whatever 'it' may be. Doc said to try tranexamic acid first, and if it doesn't work, to consider an ablation before considering a hysterectomy. I'll try to rate this on a pros and cons scale. PROS: My period got slightly less heavy midway through the second day, but not light by any means. CONS: extreme dizziness, numbness in face and hands, severe sharp pains in my abdomen. Not willing to do this monthly. Guess ablation's next. :("

For Menstrual Disorders "I suffered from severe bleeding during my period that would last 10 or so days and also intense cramping. (Even the doctor was surprised at the severity!). The severe blood loss led to me being anemic. I was recommended tranexamic acid, and it has completely changed my life. It's over halved the amount of blood lost, and now my period lasts less than a week (roughly 5 days?). Couldn't survive without this anymore! It's also good because it can be used along with over-the-counter painkillers to help with cramping!"

Tranexamic acid for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I started taking Lysteda 3 months ago. The first month was great, except once I was done, my period came back but not heavy. The next month, I had 2.5 days of mess, and my period stopped. I didn't take any more as it makes me feel like crap. Now, 49 days later, I still haven't had a period. Not sure I will take this again."

For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding "I'm 50 years old and took tranexamic acid for the flooding heavy periods that have been part of my perimenopause. This medication was very effective for me - very noticeably reduced bleeding, to a bit under half the normal volume. I took it for 3 days, but the flow noticeably increased again when I stopped (fairly abruptly), so then took it for a further day, which did the trick. I didn't experience any side effects with this drug, it was nothing but good news for me. There were more little clots in the blood, which didn't bother me."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've had terrible bleeding and awful pain for periods for a couple of years. This medication has stopped the bleeding, which was so bad I used to pass big clots when I bent over. The pain is still pretty bad, though not as much as before, when it had me rolling around on the floor even after I'd had max doses of paracetamol and ibuprofen at the same time, which also upset my digestive system for a week after my period was over. Misery. So things are a bit better now. My gynaecologist is monitoring things."
