Westhroid (thyroid desiccated) "I've been on a combination of Westhroid and Nature-throid due to the shortages for a couple months now. Gradually been upping the dose and FINALLY today after yesterdays increase my abdominal bloating is down! I've been afraid to "up" my dose in fear of not getting enough supply. But the bloating was so bad- none of my clothes fit -and I looked 8 months pregnant that and other non abating symptoms forced me to up one more grain and voila! Now, the other fear is will my doctor "freak" out? last labs showed low end free T's and a very suppressed TSH- which as we know makes dr's go nutty. But it does appear Westhroid is a bit easier to get. "

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Complete Thyroidectemy for cancer and two HUGE goiters with several nodules; which were crushing my esophagus. Immediately put on Thyroxine and became deathly ill within 2 days. I malabsorb Thyroxine and am severely allergic to lactose, acacia (grass) & sugar. Dr. insisted on increasing dosage, rather than listening to me; as seems to the usual. I am still looking for a Dr. with more knowledge about Armour Thyroid than me, because I am still very ill. But, I would have DIED on Thyroxine and IF I had kept WATCHING my goiter. The surgeon came out shocked by the 'grapefruit' size. Cancer was almost secondary. Drs. aren't even being taught about Armour Thyroid today. So sad and SO FRIGHTENING. Is this a way to kill off more seniors?"

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "2 years ago my health insurance changed and they no longer covered my Synthroid prescription. I was upset at first, but since I switched to NP Thyroid, I have maintained a lower weight and I have more energy. My dosage was adjusted only once and has been the same for the last couple of years. I will never go back to a synthetic drug like Synthroid or levo."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "TSH went up from 1.3 to 12.8 while taking NP thyroid. It did nothing for me but cause terrible brain fog, joint pain, stomach issues, etc. Going back to Levothyroxine and going to add small amount of T3."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "Prescribed 1 grain split day-time dosage of armour thyroid. After 2nd day, each time I took the 1/2 dosage I had slight sore-throat and eyes itching and irritated, this happened every time and became progressively worse daily until 8 days later, I could not take the side effects anymore and had to stop taking it. Allergist tested positive for allergy to egg whites and dairy. I had ingested both of these products in one way or another on the days that I took the armour so figured it was the egg/diary allergy and not the armour. Allergist took skin/oral test with the armour and no signs of an allergic reaction to it, tried it again, 1 hour after each dose same symptoms, no more armour for me!!! Now I seem to be allergic to everything!!"

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I had a total thyroid removal in February and was started on Levothyroxine 125mcg. In March my TSH was 7.5, so my NP increased it to 175mcg. I began to have terrible side effects, and possible allergic reactions. She switched me to a low-dose of Armour. I was feeling terrible after a week. My TSH had increased to 32.9. She increased my dose to 60 mg twice a day. I started having horrible side effects, depressed, anxious, BP increased, very irritable, could not sleep. I stopped taking it for 24 hours and already feel better. Now will have to try something else."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I was diagnosed with 2 thyroid nodules in Sep 2019. My endo immediately recommended total removal. Said the nodules would eventually obstruct my ability to swallow and breathe. Oh yeah the biopsy was non cancerous. Had the surgery in Oct 2019. Since then my life has been a roller coaster of symptoms and problems. Digestive, muscle aches and pains, vision, anxiety and depression. I was started on Levothyroxine 137 mcg. Did not work. Switched to Synthroid 137 mcg. After one month the doc added Cytomel (T3) 25 mcg. Had palpitations right after I started taking. Was told to take half the T3 pill. Now I developed acid reflux problems and prescribed Protonix. Feel tired all day, nauseous, lightheaded with metal taste in my mouth. Lastly my labs keep coming back perfect. I am so desperate. I want to try Armour Thyroid but afraid of the unknown. Thoughts? I need help. I’m 50 years old and the sole breadwinner of my family."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I have only 1 lobe of thyroid after having a weird mass. For 2yrs the thyroid seemed to do ok. Then bamm I became underactive. I flat out told my Dr NO synthetics. I wanted to try Amour. I have been taking NP Thyroid for almost 3 weeks. I do feel somewhat better but have noticed an extreme swing in my mood for a hour or so after taking it. Also I feel like I wanna eat like there is no tomorrow"

"Oh my god these pills are amazing. I had a friend suggest I look into them and so I went to a naturopath. The difference between levothyroxin and desiccated is huge! Since day one of taking naturally desiccated thyroid I have had energy that I haven't experienced since before puberty and I'm almost 30! I had the flu and a sinus infection as well as a lung infection and I switched over during that time and even though I wanted to rest my body, I couldn't stop cleaning my house. I'm feeling better now of course and the energy hasn't died down. I actually caught up on laundry and as a mother, I didn't think that was possible... I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get more energy."

Nature-Throid (thyroid desiccated) "I've been on various thyroid replacement hormone therapy. I find that products that are natural works Armour Thyroid and Nature Thyroid. Both are equally the same for me. It would be nice if my dosage could stay the same but since surgery I find my dosage switching to lower or higher depending on my stress levels and whenever I lose or gain weight. Both affect my reaction to the medication but I guess that's a part of life. I just wish one pill and one dose fit no matter what. I give this medicine a 9 because it's more expensive and hard to find."

Nature-Throid (thyroid desiccated) "So happy with Nature-Throid. I needed a change after 15 years with Levoxyl because my provider wanted to lower that drug’s dosage, which I couldn’t tolerate. Two months into Nature-Throid, I’m feeling very good. I was concerned that I’d experience mood swings, tingling, joint pain and the like, but so far, all I have is a little weight gain."

NP Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I have been on NP for several years. I did notice the change in smell about a year ago. Which I thought odd everyone used the exact words to describe it. I am optimal in NP. I have not had any problems. I do take a 240 mg a day or 4 grains. My doctor is very on top of thyroid problems. I would not jump to take Armour because a website claims it’s the only thing that works."

Westhroid (thyroid desiccated) "I had been on this for many years, but the continuing shortage and inability to get this drug in Ontario is too frustrating. I have to get it prepared at a compound pharmacy and the cost is ridiculous as my insurance will not cover it (costs about $170 Cnd for a 3-month supply). I finally decided I would have to switch."

"I had my thyroid out in 2000 and it is now 2008. When I first had my thyroid out, my doctor put me on Synthyroid and would just look at the total TSH. Then I switched Dr.'s because I felt horrible and put on so much weight to find out my T3 and Free T3 were very low. It was possible my body was having a tough time converting T4 to T3 and the doctor switched me to Armour Thyroid and it was a life saver."

Armour Thyroid (thyroid desiccated) "I had my right thyroid removed 4 years ago. They started me out on levothyroxine 50mg. My side effect were itchy eyes, brain fog and tired every day around 4:00. The Doctor change my medication to Armour 30mg and 15mg. I loved it for 3 years. The start of my 4 year was good until July 2021. Side effect were bad weight gain, brain fog so bad I was having trouble with having a converse. I was tired too. I just did not put two and two together and realized it was my thyroid medication. Saw the Doctor in October told her my side effect told her I stop taking the 15 mg armour and the side effects lessened. My blood work came back with my TSH off the charts. She now has me on Armour 30mg and Levothyroxine 50mg. My side effect now are losing my hair, tired, cold, weight gain. I have only being on this for month and half. I am hoping it will lessen over time."
