"I was first treated with Levothyroxine for my hypothyroidism. After 6 weeks of being on it, it had no effect whatsoever! I asked my doctor for Armour Thyroid and boy, what a difference! It's great! Too bad also that labs use an outdated reference range of what is 'normal' on TSH, T4, and T3 blood test results. Do your own research because what the lab says is normal is not!"

"I used to be on Armour... then it was unavailable for a while since they were reformulating it. I don't know why they had to reformulate it. It was working fine and is an old reliable drug. After the reformulation, my side effects (that I didn't have before) included my feet cramping at night... often. Changed to Nature-throid and don't have that problem."

"I had been experiencing undiagnosed hypothyroidism symptoms for a long time without really knowing what was going on: extreme fatigue, brain fogginess, mood swings, and cold. I had been having my thyroid tested for years due to my mother having had a tumor and removal of hers, and yet the doctors all kept telling me the levels were fine. I went to an integrative doctor, and he prescribed for me. I've gradually worked up to taking 45 mg a day. 60 mg was too much: headache, very painful and hardened breasts, really bad PMS-type symptoms, and the bloating! My biggest issue is also the puffiness and inability to lose weight! Protein shakes, cardio exercise, and strength training and nothing helps. It's so frustrating!"

"With both parents hypothyroid, I was diagnosed hypothyroid at 7 years old, so I have 50 years of personal experience with thyroid medicines. Armour Thyroid is absolutely the best in my opinion. Doctors tried to 'fool my body' with assorted synthetic products, but my system (and Mom's) did not do the T3-T4 conversion. On top of the usual problems of being functionally underdosed, I developed worse results: thrombocytopenia (critically low platelets), high cholesterol, inability to metabolize calcium leading to lower bone density than my own mother. On Synthroid, one Internal Medicine doctor even wondered if I had Hashimoto's Disease. Use Armour. Treat the patient."

"I took Armour for 12 years, and it worked great. Then they pulled it off the market for several years to reformulate it. It costs about 4 times as much and doesn't work for me at all. Hair loss and makes me extremely agitated. I switched to Nature Throid, but now Express Scripts is out of that. I am hoping NP Thyroid works. Maybe Big Pharma be taken down by good government regulations, so they can't make all the rules for those of us who need medication."

"I was prescribed Armour Thyroid after trying Synthroid and finding out it didn't work for me. With Synthroid, I actually felt worse: nausea, no appetite, even more tired, but Armour Thyroid was such a relief and made me feel normal again. It made my hair stop falling out at such an alarming rate and helped my weight stabilize. I actually have energy to do things now! I have been told by my pharmacist though that Armour Thyroid is no longer being made. I have to try to switch to another natural thyroid medication, and I'm not sure what my doctor will be giving me. I hope my testimonial on the effectiveness of this medication, in combination with everyone else's, might show how good this medication is and bring it back."

"I have been dealing with hypothyroidism since 1985 - 8 years after having radioactive iodine treatment. I was on Synthroid and levothyroxine for years. And then I heard about the natural treatment with Armour. Started taking that somewhere around 2002. Moved and got a new endocrinologist who said didn't like Armour and put me on levothyroxine. It took me over 9 months to figure out that my problem with my hair falling out was caused by the switch to levothyroxine. (Had multiple tests for all kinds of issues thinking that may have caused the hair loss.) I literally lost 3/4 of my hair. When he switched me back to Armour, within 3 weeks my hair stopped falling out. However, I felt better on the levothyroxine. NOW my dilemma is what to do. I do not want to go back to levothyroxine and have my hair start to fall out again. My TSH went from 8.77 in Jan '23 to 0.01 in March! The MD has changed the dose multiple times and at a very high price to me. I feel awful most of the time."

"I've used this medication for four and a half years, but one thing that I will say is that randomly a batch will make you feel very irritable and moody, and then you'll notice when you get your next prescription, it's back to normal. It's not always consistent on helping."

"After several weeks, I finally got the doctor to change my script to Armour Thyroid. I have begun to feel better. Now I have to convince him to increase the dose. He first told me he would 'get in trouble with the law' if he prescribed Armour, but when I told him I would call a pharmacy to check what he said, he recanted and ordered me Armour Thyroid 15 mg. I have had Armour on and off throughout my life. The lab tests were not right as they had the level ranges too high. Now I am back to square one. I am looking forward to feeling the way I should. God bless Armour Thyroid."

"After I gained 60 lbs in a 3-month period approximately 8 years ago, it was determined that I had hypothyroidism. I was given Synthroid, which stopped the weight gain, however, I have never felt quite right, even though my TSH and T3/T4 would be normal. My hands and feet were always cold, my eyebrows were very thin, I was always tired, etc. I started taking Armour Thyroid about 4 months ago and feel terrific. I have even started losing weight (15 lbs so far). I am worried that I have been having problems trying to fill my prescription lately. Please tell me that they are not going to discontinue Armour Thyroid? I am getting several different explanations as to why it is not readily available."

"I have been taking Armour Thyroid 60 mg/day for about 9 months, and some of my symptoms of hypothyroidism improved, however, my (Jan 2012) lab tests suggested I was still low. My doctor doubled the dose to 120 mg/day. In the past, I occasionally noticed some small pimples in the area of my lower lip and chin, but after two weeks on the higher dose, I started 'blooming' all over my face and neck. I looked like I was suffering from a case of measles or severe acne. My doctor advised me to immediately stop the Armour. I have read a number of reports of people experiencing the same or similar allergic reaction to the changed Armour formula."

"Armour is just okay. It’s expensive, and there are a lot of fillers. It’s owned by Allergan, the same company that makes Synthroid. Have to take a pretty high dose also, I’m on 180 + 30 mg daily. I split/chew my tablets for better absorption, take iodine/other thyroid support supplements, and also had to add liothyronine/T3 to it. After the NP thyroid reformulation (horrible med!) and Nature-throid/WP recall after that, I was forced onto this. Hoping they fix some of the other NDT medications to their former glory in the near future, fingers crossed!"

"I have had every symptom of hypothyroidism except constipation. I tried Levothyroxine for a month and nothing. I've been taking Armour for 6 weeks, and I feel better, but I haven't lost any weight despite totally changing my diet and exercising with cardio and strength training for at least 5 days a week. This has never been typical for me. I have been taking 60 mg of Armour Thyroid. My doctor hasn't increased this dosage, fearing it will cause hypo, but I cannot lose any weight, and I've never been in this situation."

"This is my second day of taking Armour. I may have to get used to it. I haven't slept well since I have taken it. I feel very alert and not relaxed. I am going to stick with it since it is more of a balance of T3 and T4, I hope. I was getting no results from levothyroxine."

"I started taking Armour in November 2015. The first couple of days, I felt more tired. But after 4-5 days, I wasn't tired throughout the day. I lost 6 lbs in that month. But then, when I started my refill, all the weight came right back on. Is it possible for a whole batch to be bad? Or did my body regulate to that dose?"

"I tried the different synthetic hormones for 14 years, never feeling quite right, even when my tests said my levels were OK. I started Armour Thyroid early this year and finally feel good. I'd forgotten what that meant. The Armour dose is higher than the conversion chart indicated, but it is amazing to feel normal again."

"I've been on Armour for over 3 months now, and my TSH and T4 levels are only getting worse. I go to the doctor every 3 weeks to have my blood drawn, and there has been no improvement! Every time I go to the doctor, they keep having to up the dosage to 30 mg, and each increase I feel worse and worse. My hair has fallen out, I feel lethargic and achy all over, I can't sleep at night, and when I finally do get to sleep, I wind up staying in bed for 13 hours! I have no energy."

"Diagnosed with mild hypothyroid a month ago. Started feeling great, but also started getting a rash all over my upper thigh, it isn't itchy or red. It's just raised like poison oak rash. Waiting to see if it is truly the Armour causing the rash. I haven't seen many people with this side effect. I would hate to stop it (30 mg)."

"I have been taking Armour Thyroid for 15 years and have never had a side effect or problem. It has helped me greatly with fatigue. It is a great and gentle drug. Why on earth would they take it off the market? I have noticed that it's getting difficult to get my prescription filled, but I was told it was a manufacturing problem?"

"I started on Armour 2 months ago. I was on levothyroxine for 3 months. I feel like my fogginess is gone (I call it being airheaded:). I'm still in the beginning phase, but has anyone lost any weight on these pills??? I watch my diet and exercise (hired 2 different trainers), but have been stuck on my weight. I feel heavy and tired. Supposedly, I'm 25-30 pounds overweight. I know if I lose weight, it will help with my energy. I'm supposed to do blood work next week. If my numbers are normal, I think I may try to do a full hormone blood panel test and pay out of pocket."

"There is a level of inconsistency in its quality and in its potency. I have tried taking it in different ways. Starting with swallowing it (caused immediate bloating). Tried it sublingually and finally crushing it. Again, I have found some difference in the way it crushes. Some are crumbly (more potent) and some are sticky (same batch). One whole box was totally useless. I didn't realize this immediately. Side effects kept increasing with each dose, and I kept feeling tired, nauseated, and lacked energy. This effect wore off 4-5 hours after taking the pill and felt almost back to normal. I opened a new batch and things improved within 2 days...less side effects and more energy levels. Other side effect is a sweet taste. I will try a different brand."

"I was taking Levoxyl for 12 years and doing fine. Then went into another Hashitoxicosis due to either progression of Hashimoto’s or extreme stress. After several months of trying to get my thyroid stable again, it finally started to level out with Levoxyl. My Dr. suggested I try Armour, so I did. HUGE mistake!! From the first day I took it, I felt something was off, and I only took it for 7 days - depressed, nauseous, low pulse, tired, felt cold, allergic reaction with fever blisters, itchy rash, and swollen eyes. On the 7th day, I started having seizures, extreme severe anxiety, depressed, I felt like it was causing a mental issue/breakdown/extreme nervousness and fear. I NEVER had seizures or anxiety or depression before the Armour. My TSH increased rapidly, and T4 decreased just two weeks after I started taking it. Went back to Levoxyl. Three months later, and I’m still having anxiety and trying to recover from the extreme damage it caused."

"Doctors will always try to put you on Synthroid, which is poison that has the worst side effects, and once I started on Armour, I could see the dark cloud leave. I still notice that I can only use half of a batch before I need to buy more because it went bad, and I am still trying to get the perfect dose, but I feel so much better with Armour than the Synthroid that doctors suggest. I only wish I could buy Armour in Colombia, SA, because now I must go to the States every month to pick it up."

"1 year ago, my MD put me on Synthroid, and after 3 months, I had so much pain in my legs, I stopped taking it, and my pain went away. I discovered Armour Thyroid, and it made such a difference in the way I felt."

"I was on Armour for almost 20 years with no issues. My June 2021 refill triggered incredible anxiety and irritability, increased heart rate, heat intolerance (and I worked in heat and was acclimated to it). Like others posting reviews, I also noted jaw clenching and tooth grinding. In August 2021, I was hospitalized for an arrhythmia the doctors told me was from being overmedicated. Armour changed, either due to supply chain problems or to save money or both. I can no longer trust it and switched to levothyroxine/cytomel."
