Temazepam for Insomnia "I was given a prescription of 30 mg Restoril by my GP doctor to help combat recurring bouts of insomnia. While it did nothing to help me fall asleep, it did help me in a couple of other ways. I frequently suffer from tension headaches and noticed after 15 minutes of my first dose the headache was completely eradicated, which led me to believe that it works well as a muscle relaxer. Another property of the drug which I found helpful was a significant decrease in anxiety, which made me more comfortable in social situations. I never felt 'high', just an increased desire to interact with my fellow peers. So while I can't give it a glowing review for the reason it was prescribed, the other effects outweighed the uselessness of the intended treatment."

For Insomnia "I was instructed to take one or two 15 mg before bed. I took one and slept for two hours, it was good sleep, I guess. I didn’t have nightmares, but once I was up, I would have anxiety. I took a second pill and would sleep for another 4 to 6 hours and wake up refreshed. So I am taking one and then waking up and taking a second. I even tried to take a .50 Xanax an hour before bed, hoping it would help, and nope, it didn’t. So next appointment, I’m gonna see what other medication I can get on. I have horrific nightmares, the incident that caused the PTSD always occurred at night. I hate medication, but I’m desperate to feel somewhat normal."

For Insomnia "Been on temazepam for 2 nights so far. 1st night slept 6 hours, last night only 3 hours and woke up in a panic and scared to death. Feeling confused and anxious. Was given this when Elavil and melatonin, trazodone, and doxepin stopped working. Don't know what else to do."

For Insomnia "I was prescribed Temazepam for sleep. Was on and off them for a 30-day period and stopped cold turkey for a week and got tinnitus, confusion, anxiety, and really dark thoughts. So I started to take them again to get rid of the above symptoms but with a tapering plan. I’m feeling worse and worse each day as the tremors, tinnitus, and confusion have returned. I have no idea how to beat this apart from going into the nut house. BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE TAKING THIS DRUG. It is awful."

For Insomnia "This medication was very effective for me, as it worked consistently to help me sleep, and I never had to increase the dose from 15 mg. However, if I had to do it all over again, I never would have started on it. This is a benzodiazepine, and with that comes a lot of issues. I took this medication for only one month consistently and had to deal with physical discomfort and heightened anxiety (what I take to be slight withdrawal symptoms) when I decided to stop using it. Now I'm back to square one, dealing with insomnia and going through the steps I would have had to take (finding non-medical ways to treat my insomnia) had I never started the medication. Heed the warnings and use drug-free options to treat your sleeplessness."

For Insomnia "I was a long-term opiate addiction, and even with this had horrible insomnia, so would buy black market temazepam. I am 3 months clean but still have crippling anxiety and insomnia. This drug works wonders. Keeps my anxiety at bay, and last night I slept for 9 hours!!! Just scared they will try and change me to something else again. Works wonders."

For Insomnia "Worked for a while pretty well, but then went back to maybe getting 2 hours of sleep a night if I was lucky! I need help, and I feel so anxious. I need something to help me with this horrible insomnia."

For Insomnia "I had insomnia for months and was put on Seroquel XR for sleep. It pretty much just drugged me, and I hated it. Popping limbs and anxiety over not being able to fall asleep was my problem. But since changing my diet to a healthier lifestyle (will be a year January 2012) and taking temazepam 30 mg since October 2011, I have felt the best sleep I have ever had. I started taking it at 10 or 11 pm so it would last through the night. I usually wake up to go to the bathroom at 4 am or 5 am and can't go back to sleep, so I will be asking my doctor if I can take 2 (30 mg per night), one before bed and one in the middle of the night. And from reading posts on here, some people have taken it for years. This is the best, most restful sleep I have ever had!"

Temazepam for Insomnia "Although I try to avoid sleep medication, Restoril works fabulously as my 'last resort' when I've been tossing and turning for hours and sleep will not come. Thankfully, it's not often, usually, Midnite Melatonin is my first choice if I'm not tired. If I take it and it doesn’t work, then I go to the restaurant. Works every time, even if I have anxiety about not sleeping."

For Insomnia "Since the beginning of this year (2015), I have been experiencing bouts of insomnia at an increasing rate. First just a night or two once a month to a week or so once a month. My doc prescribed temazepam 30 mg at bedtime. I took it, and it worked like a charm, but when I wouldn't take it, I'd be back to insomnia all night long. After a month of taking it every night, I began sleepwalking. I would get out of bed and go to various rooms in the house and sometimes wake up and be confused. I tried to quit it, but I was a total wreck that day: high anxiety, heavy pulse, elevated blood pressure-almost like a panic attack. It's a controlled substance. I am off it now. Nasty stuff, it forces you to sleep. I am going to try Elavil and see how that works."

For Insomnia "My GPs in England have been very abusive because I've suffered severe insomnia since 1974, so I've changed my doctor six or seven times now. They are not sympathetic to insomnia. Even though I don't drink, smoke, or take illegal drugs, I have been treated like a criminal for needing sleeping pills, so my present GP has cut me down to 10mgs per night. They give me 7 pills a week to ensure I don't take even 1 more. The Mylan brand is fantastic, I had many hours of sleep every night! For 15 months, I have kept on this low dose, and the GPs now want to cut me to half a pill per night and total insomnia! Now I take Teva, as that brand has shut down. The brand has no effect on me. It's weak as water! So I have to take 15 mgs per night to get any sleep, and this brand takes hours before it works! GP angry, says I mustn't take 15 mgs per night and refuses to prescribe more pills! The Mylan is the only brand that works, but GP treats me, aged 73, like a naughty child and won't listen. I'm ill with stress."

Temazepam for Insomnia "Tried first time low dose 7.5 mg, never went to sleep, but sure rested comfortably without fidgeting from anxiety. Tried 15 mg second time, slept 3 hours (first sleep in 5 days) and woke up to a panic attack. Could not even rest comfortably for the rest of the interminable night. It’s me, not the drug."

For Insomnia "I was prescribed temazepam when I went to a new doctor. He told me that my previous doctor has wrongly prescribed me diazepam and that I should be using temazepam instead. It was horrible. I woke every 2 hours and the next day I had severe anxiety. It wasn't for me. I think that diazepam works for both my insomnia as well as my anxiety. Unfortunately, temazepam didn't work for me, personally."

For Insomnia "I'm really sad because I think temazepam is okay... and it makes you feel relaxed and safe to sleep, but the next day or two my body aches, and my head feels mentally unhinged and a little whacked, like mental moments and an anxious or weird feeling all day and night. Leg pains and heaviness the next day as well... feel mentally uncomfortable to where I guess I shouldn't take it. I'm not sleeping at all, no help, and don't know what else to do."

For Insomnia "This last prescription I had didn’t work at all. My anxiety is through the roof, and forget about helping me sleep, I’ve been up for 3 days. Now either the pharmacist is giving out placebos, or the drug company is scamming people. I’m having them analyzed as we speak."

For Insomnia "Can't find a med to stop my brain from thinking when I go to bed. Tried temazepam first, and it didn't work for 3 hours. Xanax and lorazepam were the same. But if I stop a sleep aid, I will be up until 6 or 7 a.m. with no sleep, and I feel anxious."

For Insomnia "I took 10 mg last week for the very first time (after 3 nights of no sleep in a row). It caused some anxiety, but I managed to fall asleep in the end. A day after, it worked perfectly well. But now I took my third pill (maybe too late at 3 am, I tried herbal Nytol first with no effect). It’s 6 am, still no sleep. Is it just my anxiety and expectation that the drug must work? Or just the dosage too low? Please help! It’s so depressing. I have to work tomorrow (online, because of the lockdown), but still..."
