For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I tried Flomax years ago and have suffered from BPH for many years. I expected retrograde ejaculation, but I didn’t even feel like I had an orgasm and changed my arc. Last week I was prescribed Flomax after my lithotripsy. I’d forgotten and had intercourse today. I cannot have an orgasm with Flomax or meaningful pleasure. It’s back to doxazosin mesylate for me immediately. I could live without the ejaculation but Flomax completely ended my sex life in 3 days! I hope to be back to normal in a week or so."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Helped me urinate a stream like you wouldn't believe. Took this medicine for 6 years and saw my sexual performance fade away fast. Sex felt numb. No ejaculation, poor performance for my wife. Finally quit and have better erections and love life is much better now."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I am using tamsulosin (Flomax) to aid in passing kidney stone fragments following shock wave lithotripsy. The medication has been successful in relaxing the bladder neck muscle and prostate to allow the stone fragments to pass. However, men should note the possible sexual side effects. I have experienced retrograde ejaculation. The relaxed muscles allow the seminal fluid to flow backward into the bladder. There are no forceful involuntary muscle contractions and no pleasurable fluid release from the penis. I experience a few weak pulses and a few drops of semen ooze out. I've felt no discomfort when seminal fluid flows into the bladder, just a feeling of fullness that is relieved later during urination. Overall, sexual satisfaction is diminished by 50%. No issues with maintaining a firm erection, responding to stimulation or feeling the initial stage of orgasm, but without the physical relief of expelling seminal fluid from my body I feel frustrated at the end of sexual activity."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I had to stop taking Flomax because it made my sinuses completely clogged. I could not sleep because I had to keep my mouth open to breathe, which caused dry mouth and sore throat. Never got any sleep on it. It also caused retrograde ejaculation, where the semen goes back into the bladder instead of out the end of the penis. The short time I was on it helped the urination a little, but not a lot."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 62 years old and have been on the generic Flomax for about two years now. I have noticed a big improvement in my ability to urinate, and I no longer have problems starting a stream. Also, it no longer takes a long time to fully empty my bladder (no more starting and stopping several times). My only problem is the sexual side effect of no ejaculation when I have an orgasm. It bothers me that this is not normal!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "53-year-old male. Started on Flomax .4 dosage for two weeks for my BPH symptoms of urgency, weak stream, failure to fully empty bladder. Seemed to relieve those symptoms initially for a few days up to a week; tapered off the second week, however still improved initial symptoms by twenty-five percent. No noticeable side effects other than decreased ejaculation amounts and delayed ejaculation. Bumped dosage up to .8 after four weeks. Side effects now include minor lower back pain and minor sinus allergies. Seems to be working slightly better than .4; going to continue for another week or two. Was hoping for better results; maybe after more time on the medication?"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "While Flomax definitely helps with ease and volume of urination, the side effects are just too much. This is the second time I’ve tried it. The first time (about a year ago) I stopped for the horrible side effects and decided I would never take it again. This time I guess I forgot about those because I told my doctor I wanted to try it again. Within a day or two, I stopped getting up as much at night, I had a more powerful stream, and I didn’t feel the urgent sensation to pee as much. I also experience dizziness, nausea, headaches, toothaches, ejaculation problems, and for some reason, it makes me have a hard time breathing. I’m stopping it today for the second time. Hopefully, I’ll remember these side effects the next time I think I might want to take it."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Been on Flomax for BPH for 2 years now. It's improved my urinary volume and flow rate tremendously. Most nights, don't even get up at all. Better now that I take it at 10 pm with a small snack. While it has also caused me to have dry ejaculations (my other half has not complained about this), I can maintain erection and have multiple ejaculations."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Flomax gave me serious side effects, including the following: toothache, gum infection, sinus infection, cough, chest pain, vision problem, muscle ache, muscle weakness, dizziness, premature ejaculation, inability to hold an erection for sex, lack of orgasm after painful ejaculation."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Been on Flomax for BPH for 7-8 years now. It's improved my urinary volume and flow rate. But it has also caused me to have dry ejaculations at times. I can maintain an erection and have multiple ejaculations, but its effect on relaxing the prostate slows my volume of ejaculate."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Initially, I took the low dosage and flow improved for about a week. Then the condition worsened. My doctor then upped my dosage to two pills per day. Same thing happened initially - flow improved and then reverted back to the prior condition. But as I continued to use the drug (2 times a day), the improved condition returned. Sometimes the flow is better than other times - like when my bladder is more full. Trips to the bathroom at night were reduced to 0 to 1 time. Side effects. Initially, I experienced many side effects - runny nose, minor headache, aches and weakness in my back and shoulder, and retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation is the only side effect that seems to persist."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been using a combination of Flomax with finasteride for a period of, say, 2 years. Actually, this drug met my requirements, such as smooth urination and broad, fast streaming. If I forget to take this capsule one night, in the morning all troubles relapse. The disadvantage is the side effects. I am having many mild problems, such as postural hypotension, peeling inside my hands and legs, mild migraine, and intermittent constipation, but I don't know whether I can attribute all these complaints to the drug. My serious problem is retrograde ejaculation. Fortunately, there is no priapism. The second serious problem is meager erection, so I seldom share a bed with my wife. But I masturbate once weekly, which does not require full erection."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was having the usual symptoms - hesitation, weak stream, frequency day and night, incomplete emptying - sometimes couldn't go at all unless I got in a hot shower. Very frustrating. I started and stopped this twice. The first time, I was alarmed at ejaculation problems (no semen), the second time for irregular heartbeat. But the side effects seem to have subsided this third try. Even though I don't ejaculate, I do reach orgasm. This is a minor bother compared to how effective it is at solving all my symptoms. I've been on it two weeks."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was prescribed Flomax several years ago and experienced only ejaculation problems. I'm 82 now, and several of the many side effects have surfaced. 1. Rapid heartbeat as high as 167. 2. Low blood pressure (causing fainting symptoms). It doesn't seem to have affected my libido, but the watery ejaculation is a nuisance. If you read the complete list of side effects, you'll undoubtedly find yourself in there somewhere. Then you can make an informed decision on what's best for you. Me? I'm stopping as of right now!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I had difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate. And I also had urinary retention. Flomax solved my problem, and I now have a very strong stream and am easily able to void. Very relieved. The only downside is retrograde ejaculation. No semen comes out at all. But I'm not in any relationship, and nor am I trying to get anyone pregnant, so it isn't an issue for me."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Started taking it 0.4, but first, retrograde ejaculation. Then, stuffed nose. Then, constipation. Then, flutter of heart. That was two weeks ago. It did change my counts to the bathroom from 6 to twice in one evening."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Tamsulosin for about 6 months. I don't have any side effects. I did have retrograde ejaculation for about a week, but all has been well since. I do forget to take the 1 tablet occasionally. Actually forgot this weekend. I don't notice a marked difference with or without the drug, perhaps a slightly weaker stream and a slightly harder time passing urine, but I do wonder if it's actually worth taking? I will discuss this with my urologist. So give it a go if your Dr says so. It does help a bit."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Has made urination easier and less urgent. The only side effect has been retrograde ejaculation. Kind of an odd feeling and no semen in the condom. There is some cloudiness in the urine with the first urination after sexual intercourse. After getting used to the feeling, sex is as pleasurable as it has always been."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This medicine has been great for me. I’ve had an enlarged prostate and dealt with frequent urination for 2 and a half years. I’ve tried bladder relaxers such as Vesicare and Myrbetriq and prostate shrinkers such as Cialis, yet none of them helped. Finally, my third urologist recommended Flomax. I’m on day 3 and already noticing drastic improvements. I have no trouble starting a stream or emptying, and while I still have somewhat of an urge to pee more frequently than normal, it’s not nearly as severe or often as before, and I suspect that will go away over time. It has given me some retrograde ejaculation; however, I’m not looking to impregnate anyone right now anyways. Too long; didn't read: Works great, retrograde ejaculation."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This medicine made my going to the bathroom less frequent, and it improved my dripping issues when I felt done but was not empty. I was concerned about the ejaculation issues, which do occur, but there is a positive effect. If you don’t take it every day and lay off it a day or two before you know you are going to have sex, it can actually increase your ejaculation level and length to a new heightened level. I was surprised when the ejaculations lasted for 10-15 seconds at full sensitivity. It more than made up for the few weak ones. Who knows, maybe I am just lucky, but at 57, I am having some out-of-this-world releases. Don’t get me wrong, I still get the occasional poof and nothing, but holding off for a day or two is my secret to happiness and still being able to pee. My wife now jokes that I am done, so stop acting like you're still going. But I really am, and I think she is a little jealous."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Taking for more than 2 weeks now. This drug is not for me. Foggy brain in the morning, low sex drive, retrograde ejaculation, vision issues, and oddly, constipation. My bowels feel like they don’t move anymore. My flow is better, but I’d rather have to go more often and take longer than deal with this."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was prescribed Flomax because I constantly had to pee. It really helped to cut down on bathroom visits. I called it a miracle drug when I first started on it. I have had retrograde ejaculation, but that's not a big problem. One very interesting side effect I've noticed is it makes my penis hang longer. I love this side effect! I guess it's because everything is relaxed down there. I'm not seeing anyone mention it on this board, but I have seen it mentioned on other sites."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Improved urine flow in the beginning, but over time it seems to lose effectiveness. Doing 0.4 mg tablet, 1 per day. Side effects: just feel weak all around and have dry ejaculations."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Flomax for approximately three years and did not have any real side effects until I realized that every other person was having ejaculation problems, lack of sexual desire, and erectile dysfunction. I personally thought it was the whole prostate brachytherapy procedure that has caused these problems. After brachytherapy for prostate cancer, they generally recommend Flomax. I stayed on Flomax without thinking of the side effects, thinking it was the other meds causing the effects. Anyway, I stopped Flomax 4 days ago and ever since I stopped, I have been feeling the severe side effects of fatigue, flu-like symptoms every day. Has anyone taking Flomax had the same withdrawals that I have experienced in coming off Flomax? Nowhere does it say that there are withdrawal effects when coming off Flomax. I have checked almost every site. All they say is if you stop Flomax, tell your doctor before starting again. I will be searching for anyone’s reply."
