"Burning sensation worsened over about 5 days of use. None the first time, then a bit after application, and now a severe delayed reaction (the next day, so I can't just wash it off), nearly constant, and worsened with water. Feels like exposure to jalapenos on sensitive skin, like near the eyes. Hasn't had any effect on my eczema yet either. Can't stick it out to see if it gets better."

"Don't bother with Protopic. It works wonders, but you can only use it for 6 weeks. This is what I do, and it works. Overactive immune system, vitamin deficiency, triggers, stress, food allergies. Before food, 3 times a day: vitamin D spray (2000 IU) per spray, 6 sprays a day (12000 IU), lower when symptoms improve to (6000 IU) daily. CBD full spectrum spray, 6 sprays a day (800 mg). MCT oil as a base (normal function of immune system). Multivitamins. Dead Sea salt bath, shower off salt water after bath."

"I had a rash caused by insect bites, so the doctor gave me Protopic. He said it would get rid of the rash. I had tried everything: calamine lotion, baking soda, tea tree gel with vitamin E, lavender, rosemary oil, and witch hazel. Well, nothing got rid of the rash, also, my skin cannot handle hydrocortisone cream, and I cannot take Benadryl. So I got the Protopic and antibiotics. Yes, it cleared it away brilliantly, however, the doctor told me to use it twice a day, incorrect dosage. Did not warn me of evil side effects. My skin became a mess as soon as I stopped using it, remembering the doctor saying to apply more if I had any problems. It would clear my skin, then get worse and worse: leathery skin, painful blisters, oozing nasty redness, bumpy skin - Red Skin Syndrome."

"Applied this to treat what looked like a mix of folliculitis and atopic dermatitis flares (but which turned out to be just atopic dermatitis) on both lower legs, especially the shins. Itchiness, redness, and dryness abated about 80% after one week without any initial irritations or burning sensation. There is no feeling of soreness or increased sensibility whatsoever, I've basically just stopped thinking about those problematic parts of my skin, so there's that passive psychological boost, too. Only 9/10 because long-term results are still unknown and because it's pretty greasy."

"Like rubbing lava on my skin, makes me feel like I'm on fire, makes my skin redder and worse. Increases my stress levels, causing me to scratch more. The worst thing I have ever been prescribed for this condition."

"Dermatologist prescribed for facial dermatitis. After some time, warts appeared due to lack of immunity. Please take caution, I have warts now for over 3 months. Remedy is to allow the immunity to redevelop over months and then with nitrogen removal. A very unpleasant experience."

"I went camping over Memorial Day at our ranch... Long story short, it's Oklahoma, it's summer, IT'S CHIGGER TIME! Got torn up on my genitals. After an appointment at Urgent Care and a negative STD test for herpes, the clap, syphilis, etc., the doctor gave me some antibiotics (Cephalexin 500mg x 4 daily & Hydroxyzine). After 4 days, all looked promising, ran out of antibiotics... All resumed. After 3 days of swearing I would castrate myself just to stop the itch... Went to a dermatologist. Same tests for STDs all over again, but was given more antibiotics and 0.1% Protopic. Put on at 12:05 PM after picking up from the pharmacy. About 7:00 PM my penis was burning."

"Literally saved my life. Before: my whole face was covered in dry, itchy, red, painful eczema - I could barely open my eyes or move my mouth. It was horrible. Went to my dermatologist; within one week, it almost completely cleared up - I saw daily improvements. It was amazing. I love it so much!! I haven't had a flare-up in months. I don't use it on a daily basis, only to treat mild red patches at times. Very good for prevention. No side effects for me. It's gentle and loving."

"2/4/22 I woke up to red, swollen eyes. I went to my primary care doctor, who prescribed prednisone. The medication made the swelling go away. When I was done with the steroids, the swelling would immediately come back. I was on 3 rounds of steroids, including a steroid shot. My doctor could not determine the cause of the swelling. I was sent to see a dermatologist, rheumatologist, and allergist. All of my blood work came back negative for an autoimmune disease (they thought the swelling was possibly lupus). The allergist finally prescribed Protopic last week. It was very expensive, not covered by insurance, but I was willing to try anything. I needed to get off steroids since I had been on them since February. I started the Protopic Tuesday, and this is Thursday, and my eyes look like they are improving. When I apply the ointment, it does burn and itch, but it is manageable for me. If it helps stop the swelling and I don't have to miss work, then I will deal with the minor side effect."

"Was prescribed this cream after suffering with really bad eczema on my face. After a week, my eczema went away but started getting really bad acne, which I’ve never had before. It also made my skin tingle and burn. It works, but the side effects aren’t worth it."

"I've been using Protopic for two weeks for my eczema on my feet. Steroid creams stopped working and made the skin very thin. After being prescribed Protopic 0.1%, the first day was crazy itchy and couldn't sleep. But after the next day, I applied it again in the same spot, and it wasn't itchy anymore. My weeping eczema started to clear up miraculously. I had a few drinks one night, and everything went nuts, a burning itch where my eczema was, and it started up the flare all over again! I obviously cannot even have a small amount of alcohol while using Protopic. Overall, the best results out of any skin ointment for eczema. Let's hope after not drinking for a while, I can get a handle on this relapse."

"I was given this by my dermatologist for my eczema. Was not told it would burn or that it had a black box for cancer. Said it was safe to use on eyelid eczema. Now I have the droopiest and swollen eyelids because of it. The areas where Protopic were used also have increased flakiness and are prone to breakdowns."

"I'm in the UK and retired now, so all of my meds are free. I'd suffered with red, sore patches on my face for years and occasionally used steroid cream to alleviate things, knowing it was not the best thing to do. I was referred to a dermatologist at the hospital, and she put me on Protopic 0.1 to be used once a day for a week to see how I got on with it. Like other people have said, for a few days my face felt hot, but the results after 3 days were amazing! I now use the ointment for a couple of days if I get a flare-up, and it works like magic."

"Protopic helped my wife in vitiligo treatment. She has been using 0.03% for face, and 0.1% for body, and it reduced vitiligo almost completely within several months, without any side effects."

"This is a terrible product, the only way to heal from any skin condition is to heal your gut. I was on steroids and Protopic, and now I'm going through topical steroid withdrawal for 9 months."

"It’s only been 5 days, but the itching and burning this stuff caused made me want to rip my skin off. So far, no miracle improvement that others have reported. If anything, the rash looks and feels worse."
