Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I am 41 years old and have osteoarthritis in both knees. I have tried everything from steroid injections, medications, and physical therapy without any long term relief. The steroid injections were really painful and didn't last, so I was very hesitant to try the Euflexxa. My Orthopedic Dr. gave me two choices (lubrication injections or arthroscopy). I knew that I didn't want the arthroscopy so I went for the Euflexxa. I was terrified but needed some relief. My first injection hurt a little and my knees were sore for a few hours. My second injection hurt a little more and was sore a little longer than the first time. I will have my third injection in 2 days and can't wait. I am so glad that I did it! My knee pain is very minimal."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "Today is Day 5 after my injection. I really regretted the decision on days 1-4. Yesterday was particularly bad with one of my knees buckling every few steps. Today I have no pain and I am greatly relieved. Apparently, the internal swelling caused the nerve pain. Swelling is gone and pain subsided. Yeah!!!"

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "I got a durolane injection on Tuesday. Just in left knee. So glad I decided against getting both knees done. First day was ok. I had some soreness but my pain continues to get worst each day. It is extremely difficult to get a good nights rest. I have difficulty walking. I was doing so much better prior to the injection. I did the one thing I tell everyone else. Don't put your faith in the doctor because they don't know everything. I so wished I had done my research then I would not be in this excruciating pain. No more of any kind injections for me. I can deal with my normal discomfort. But this pain is almost unbearable. Do your research!!"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "Knee, loss of cartilage in both knees. Series 3 injections 1 wk apart. First lasted 12 months, second, same, now getting 3rd series. Works excellent. The use of Euflexxa has been excellent and continued to work well without pain for 12 months. This is my third series of injections."

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I just finished the third injection of Gelsyn. I went to the Ortho because my kees hurt at night. I was able to walk, work on my vegetable garden, and my flower bed before the injections. Now, I am not able to do anything, my knees hurt all the time and every time that I walk there is so much pain in my knees and run through my legs. Every morning when I get up, the pain is so excruciated I that have to used a walker all the time now. I sent a message to my doctor and he responded that if I am on blood thinner or have kidney problems, they can't do anything. I responded that I am not either one. He didn't tell me about the side effects. I trusted him and now I am a cripple. The nurse that administer the shots, said that it will take 6 weeks to feel better. I will see if it is true. 5/11/21"

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I have bone spurs and osteoarthritis in my left knee. I am a candidate for a total replacement, however, I am trying to postpone surgery for as long as I can. My doctor recommended the 3-shot series. I had my first one yesterday. I have not had any side effects from it other than a little soreness where it was injected. I am hopeful that this will buy me some time."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "I had Durolane injections on both knees and I regret it very much. I have hurt worse than before and have struggled to even walk. It’s been almost 3 weeks and starting to feel a little bit better but I’ll never do that again I’ll stick to cortisone shots until I get a knee replacement. It was so expensive above my insurance and definitely not worth it. I don’t recommend Durolane shots at all"

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "It's been 8 months to the day that I had both knees injected with Durolane. Walking and going up and down stairs is still very difficult. This has weaken my knees and leg muscles. My leg gives out now and then. My balance is off. I can't run. Who ever approved this should be sued and jailed!! My quality of life has dropped drastically. I'm 71 and can't play with my grand kids like I use to. It's like I'm 10 years older. I don't know what to do about this now!!!!! I'm giving this a 1 because I can't give a negative#"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "Have had good results so far. Am week out from third injection on left knee. Plan to start series on right knee next week. Injections were painless except for last one. Definitely ice knees after injections and don't over do activity for a couple days. Think that's why third was more painful. I am 64 with severe osteoarthritis and moderate rheumatoid arthritis. Know replacements are inevitable, but want to enjoy as much as possible until then. Good luck everyone!"

Supartz (sodium hyaluronate) "I have had two knee surgeries in the past 20 months. I had 3 rounds of Synvisc with no relief whatsoever. My doctor suggested Supartz. Although I was hesitant, he convinced me to try it. Boy am I glad I did. I went from walking with a noticeable limp to biking 35 to 45 miles at a clip and walking with no pain. This occurred in 5 weeks!!! I am thrilled with this medication and would recommend it to anyone suffering knee pain. The worst that could happen is it doesn't work."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "I have osteoarthritis in both knees, torn meniscus surgery three years ago. I have had two rounds of cortisone shots in the past year as well. Nothing has helped so I decided I would try the gel injections. I wish I had read the reviews before I put myself through pure misery. Both legs were injected with Durolane on December 12, 2019. They were the most painful shots I have ever had! I could barely walk after the injections at the office. I followed my doctor’s orders and iced both knees several times. By the evening I was in so much pain. I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I went the first two weeks with so much discomfort while trying to sleep. For several days I could barely walk. Now it’s been three weeks and my knees are no better. In fact, my right knee stays swollen, sore, and painful most of the time. My left knee aches daily. I can barely bend my knees, sit on the toilet, or put on clothes. I do not recommend getting these injections!"

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "In June I had Gelsyn-3 injections; about 4 wks later, I began to have feeling of something crawling on my legs . A couple weeks later ; painful spasms in both thighs. I don't know if it was reaction to the injections ; but this is now getting worse. I just wondering if anyone else has had the reaction after taking injections. Thanks for your input."

Supartz (sodium hyaluronate) "I've been taking the 5 injection series for about 9-10 years and have had great success. I've found relief immediately after injection #1. The first series lasted over 18 months. I never had any pain from the injections as some people have experienced. That might be due to whether or not the needle went into a muscle or bone, not the fault of the Supartz. When my doctor gives me the injection I never even feel the needle being inserted. He's a pro."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I'm a 65 year old male and for 2 years I've delt with the OA in my right knee that made me think it was time for a knee replacement since I was told sometime back that it might be my next option. Went to the orthopedic doctor, took some X-rays and said he thought my pain was from a few bone spurs and OA and suggested we try the Euflexxa shots. My last shot was on the 5th of January and my knee feels great and now I can get my life back in order."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I'm starting on my 2nd set of Euflexxa injections.. My first series was 6 months ago. I didn't think it helped my knees very much but thinking back over the last 6 months, I've had very little discomfort in my knees. I've hiked and played tennis all summer so maybe it did work! I'm just now feeling the discomfort returning..so I'm now going in for another 'round' of shots . The shots are not painful for me...just a little uncomfortable but not real pain. My insurance pays for the injections. I'm 62 and have bone on bone in both knees. Just hoping to put off TKR for a while."

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I am on my 2nd injection of Gelsyn-3 and the pain is gone but my knees feel wobbly, like my kneecaps are rolling around. I am going to take the 3rd injection and subsequent injections as needed along with the Kenalog injections every 3 months. In the meanwhile, I am gonna work on losing the extra 33lbs I gained because that is when the knee pain started."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "This is the 6-month after injection report. The first 3- weeks I had swelling due to too much Durolane fluid in my knee. Months 2, 3, 4 & 5 got better, morning stiff but flex out as day goes along. Swelling started in month-6, not pain but sore when walking. My 3 Synvisc treatments worn out after 3-5 months. So I will get my second Durolane injection this week, see if it's as good as the first one."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "With most joint fluid replacement plans, you have to wait. MDs should be telling you to get the full series, keep your range of motion good. Don't make a decision about effectiveness until you COMPLETE the series, then wait 6-8 weeks. Be wary of the reviews of those who indicate relief after one shot."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "Had my second of three Euflexxa injections yesterday afternoon and am finding that my knee feels better with each shot. The injections result in a bit of a pinch followed by brief pressure, but are not painful. Seven years ago, the same doctor who is administering the shots, scoped my knee to shave off bone spurs, vacuum bone chips, perform a lateral release and micro-fracture. Ultimately, the knee is going to have to be replaced, but I'm hanging my hopes on Euflexxa for several years of additional relief before taking the jump to surgery. The downside is that my insurance company, Regence, will no longer cover Euflexxa beginning July 1, 2015. I intend to write a letter recounting my success to appeal for continuing coverage."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "Got the Durolane injection instead of Synvisc / it does not even come close to pain relief similar to Synvisc / it wears off after about 3 to 4 weeks / The Synvisc was good for maybe 14 to 16 months / The pain is constant and unrelenting/ The fluid on my knee restricts the joint from bending/ I finally turn to opioids/ opiates do not relieve the pain it just makes you ignore it/ no more Disney or Epcot for me/ hey united health care if you’re listening it’s all your fault/"
