"I had Durolane injections on both knees and I regret it very much. I have hurt worse than before and have struggled to even walk. It’s been almost 3 weeks and starting to feel a little bit better but I’ll never do that again I’ll stick to cortisone shots until I get a knee replacement. It was so expensive above my insurance and definitely not worth it. I don’t recommend Durolane shots at all"

"It's been 8 months to the day that I had both knees injected with Durolane. Walking and going up and down stairs is still very difficult. This has weaken my knees and leg muscles. My leg gives out now and then. My balance is off. I can't run. Who ever approved this should be sued and jailed!! My quality of life has dropped drastically. I'm 71 and can't play with my grand kids like I use to. It's like I'm 10 years older. I don't know what to do about this now!!!!! I'm giving this a 1 because I can't give a negative#"

"I got the Durolane injection on Tuesday of April 14,2020 and when I was walking out of office after shot it felt good, but by time I got home it hurt some. Everyday I get up ok but by lunch it hurts some by evening it gets worse and then last night April 16,2020 was the the worst ever. I tried ice it and heat, and finally a Toradol pain reliever. I was able to wake up ok but it has been bad all day today . It says give it two weeks to fully feel the effects. Am bone on bone and a lot of arthritis in my knees . I pray this works"

"I have osteoarthritis in both knees, torn meniscus surgery three years ago. I have had two rounds of cortisone shots in the past year as well. Nothing has helped so I decided I would try the gel injections. I wish I had read the reviews before I put myself through pure misery. Both legs were injected with Durolane on December 12, 2019. They were the most painful shots I have ever had! I could barely walk after the injections at the office. I followed my doctor’s orders and iced both knees several times. By the evening I was in so much pain. I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I went the first two weeks with so much discomfort while trying to sleep. For several days I could barely walk. Now it’s been three weeks and my knees are no better. In fact, my right knee stays swollen, sore, and painful most of the time. My left knee aches daily. I can barely bend my knees, sit on the toilet, or put on clothes. I do not recommend getting these injections!"

"This is the 6-month after injection report. The first 3- weeks I had swelling due to too much Durolane fluid in my knee. Months 2, 3, 4 & 5 got better, morning stiff but flex out as day goes along. Swelling started in month-6, not pain but sore when walking. My 3 Synvisc treatments worn out after 3-5 months. So I will get my second Durolane injection this week, see if it's as good as the first one."

"Got the Durolane injection instead of Synvisc / it does not even come close to pain relief similar to Synvisc / it wears off after about 3 to 4 weeks / The Synvisc was good for maybe 14 to 16 months / The pain is constant and unrelenting/ The fluid on my knee restricts the joint from bending/ I finally turn to opioids/ opiates do not relieve the pain it just makes you ignore it/ no more Disney or Epcot for me/ hey united health care if you’re listening it’s all your fault/"

"In the queue for hip replacement but started looking for alternative. Took an ultrasound guided hip joint injection a month ago, 3ml of Durolane. Pain increased for first week and a half but now almost no pain, very pleased and hope it lasts 6 months. I'm getting over my limp, building up atrophied muscles, and resuming my regular activities like long walks and pickleball"

"Me again, it’s been almost 3 weeks and still no change! I filed a complaint with Durolane and the FDA, yet no one reaches out to me. I can barely walk, and I’m in SEVERE pain around the clock from these injections. They have ruined the quality of my life! I was hiking and cycling prior to injections, but had knee pain. Now, my legs are so stiff I cannot even bend them enough to do a peddle rotation on my bike! DO NOT GET THESE HORRIBLE INJECTIONS!"

"I had my left knee injected with Durolane in December 2019. I had previously had successful injections of Synvisc over a period of four years, and that gel worked great. This time, United HC approved both Synvisc and Durolane. I wanted the synvisc, but the doctor wanted to spare me three injections. I stupidly accepted her advice and did the Durolane. Holy Moly- my knee still hurts like anything. All the time. It's on fire. My new doctor said I may have to wait another six months before he could inject Synvisc. My advice - stay away from Durolane."

"I am a 49 year old female suffering from severe osteoarthritis of right knee. Have tried steriod injections with very temporary relief (less than a month) Dr recommended Durolane. Had my injection yesterday (2/4/2021) Pain was very intense and nearly fell when I stood up to leave. Had a pounding headache by the time I got home and had a rough time getting in the house. Iced knee and took ibuprofen as recommended. Ached through the night but I was able to sleep on and off. When I woke this morning the pain is worse than before the injection. As I walked into kitchen knee gave out and I nearly fell. I am off work today and tomorrow. Praying that taking it easy and icing knee, the pain will subside soon. I'm wishing I didn't get the injection at this point. I have pain radiating in both directions (from knee to ankle/from knee to hip) I'll keep you updated on when and if this pain lets up."

"I had the injection on Tuesday. It is now Friday and I have started having trouble walking on/moving my left knee without pain. My doctor said it might take a couple of weeks before I see positive effects so I will reserve final judgement for the next 10 days."

"I do not normally write reviews but I believe it is my duty to let those that wish to have a Durolane injection know of my awful experience. It has been a little over 2 months now and my knees still have not healed from these injections. Unfortunately, I got injections in both knees. Had I known, I would have only tried one knee at a time. At first, I couldn’t walk for 3-4 days but I was optimistic as I have a wonderful doctor and he has been taking very good care of me for the past 10 years. I believed after a week or so I should start to feel some relief. That was not the case. I am still in agony every single day. I’m sure some have had good experiences but, unfortunately, I was not one of them. I will never tell anyone to get a Durolane injection as there is a chance they may end up like me…suffering every day of my life! Best wishes to those who wish to take a chance with this terrible medication."

"I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before having this injection or I might never have tried it. My left knee is bone on bone and I tore the meniscus on Christmas Eve 2020. My knee is in such bad shape the ortho surgeon wouldn't do a repair - said it wouldn't be worth it without replacing it totally. He suggested trying the Durolane injection and I did. It didn't do anything for the first almost 3 weeks but then one day I realized I didn't need my crutches anymore and could walk without pain for the first time in about 2 years. Yes, the injection is very uncomfortable. And yes, I feel crappy afterwards and my knee is swollen, painful and stiff. But I had 6 pretty much pain free months before needing my second one just this week. I'm 53 and if this can help me put off knee replacement then I will be a happy camper."

"Try orthotic insoles first then Durolane. I had knee pain diagnosed as osteoarthritis and it got worse over time. In October, I could not walk, the pain of bone on bone was impossible. Signed up for double knee replacement. In the meantime tried orthotic insoles. What a lifesaver! Cartilage was worn out on both knees on the inside only. This indicated a biomechanical problem. The doctor preparing the insoles noted I had flat feet and these insoles straightened out my walk. This allowed the inflammation to subside as the load was now spread. A few months later, to stabilize the knees, I tried durolane. 1 week into it, and some stiffness and discomfort in the injected knee, but I can feel a big reduction in pain and more stability. The injection was no problem. Now my worse injected knee is better than my better non-injected knee. If you have addressed the underlying issue, maybe the Durolane becomes more effective. Good luck!"

"I had injections in both the right, and left knees at the same time. The right knee did okay, but the left knee was absolutely horrible. Within 4 hours of injections I had the most horrific reaction. The pain was the most extreme pain. I had pain killers and it would not relieve the pain. It was so bad I wanted to call an ambulance . The only reason I didn't was because my bedroom is up stairs, and I couldn't make the trip downstairs. I knew the only way the paramedics could get to me was breaking a 1500. Dollar door down. So I kept taking more pain killers and finally after 7 hours I had relief. Since the injections I have severe leg cramps in both legs, wow over the top! Itching over my body, bad lower back pain, RLS, and nausea. This continues. .. every day. My legs barely moves. Before treatment I was walking 2 1/2 miles daily, and I 'm 65.... obviously, I had a severe allergic reaction. Would not ever recommend. ...."

"August 30 injection. Now December 8. No relief. Knee still painful and more swelling. Also constant ‘squishy’ sound & feeling when flexing knee. Feels like the gel is still just sitting in there in one spot Can’t recommend."

"I have had two Durolane injections in my right knee, which I injured when I was just a kid. I have had multiple knee surgeries, but now that I am 61, my knee is very degraded and has lots of arthritis. My doctor’s philosophy is to put off knee replacement surgery and keep getting injections until they don’t work anymore. A year ago, I had a Durolane injection and it worked very well, giving me relief for months. Last week, I had another injection, but over the last 7 days, the pain in my knee has increased tremendously. I have some swelling and sharp pains with certain movements. The difference is that my injection last week was given by an intern. My doctor was watching, but I feel that the injection didn’t go to the correct spot. If I decide to get any future injections, I will insist that a full-fledged experienced physician does the job. So in my experience, I have seen the benefit of the drug, but unfortunately am now experiencing the downside of a poorly done injection."

"Over the last few years, I’ve had several injections of Durolane in my left knee. I’ve had no side effects and was able to stay pain-free for about 6 months each time. I had immediate relief. I just had that knee replaced because I had almost zero mobility. Yesterday, I had an injection in my right knee. No side effects, and I’m pain-free today. This is the first time in years that my knees are pain-free. What a relief!"

"Got my first Cortisone injection for bone on bone right knee in July. Worked great! Dr recommended try Durolane for next visit, can have pain relief for up to 6 months. I thought prayer was answered until next day after injection. Had horrible pain where I didn't have before. Have had to go back to using crutches and knee brace to get around. Where did the Durolane go? Dr says I can have another Cortisone but I'm thinking it won't work this time because pains location is in actual joint where Durolane was injected and there's no inflammation like before. It's now 32 days straight living and suffering with this new pain. Thank you Durolane for giving me a new pain and false hope."

"I had my first Durolane injection in Dec 2018. I am trying to avoid a knee replacement as I am only 53 years old. I have bone on bone in the medial aspect of my knee. I had 8 months of relief that has been amazing. The first 2 weeks I seemed to be in more pain and felt like I shouldn’t have had the injection. Then it settled down and I have lived pain free and active until 2 weeks ago. I have ended up needing crutches so I decided to have another Durolane injection . I just had another injection today and I know the next week or so may be a bit worse but I can’t wait to be pain free again. In Australia your private health insurance will cover $300 for the procedure . Will keep having these until I eventually decide on the replacement ."

"I rated Duroland only a 1 and this is only because I can't give a ZERO. I had a scope with meniscus repair about 3 months ago and still had some pain so my doctor suggest Durolane. Worst decision I have made for my knee recovery. 3 weeks since my injection and my pain is worse than it has ever been. I wish I had been advised that this was a possibility now my quality of life is suffering."
