"I've had increasingly annoying symptoms for years. In the past, I've tried other medications (Uroxitrol and FloMax) and had some improvement in voiding my bladder and a somewhat increased stream. However, the side effects were unpleasant. My blood pressure dropped severely, and standing up from a sitting position would cause extreme dizziness from hypotension. So, I stopped taking them, and the symptoms went away. Recently, my problems voiding became significant, so I went to see the urologist again. He prescribed Rapaflo. I had immediate relief. Within a couple of hours, I noticed a difference. It's been two weeks, and I'm noticing a bit of a decline in flow, so I'm going to ask if there is a slightly higher dose. No unpleasant side effects yet."

"I have a somewhat enlarged prostate and was diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago following an initial biopsy. Three successive biopsies over the years have not shown any cancer. However, my bladder has apparently not been voiding as it should, and after my last visit to my doctor, I was put on a 14-day trial of Rapaflo. It has been moderately successful, but not so overwhelming that I think I will stay on it. I have had some slight dizziness... as well as no ejaculate and a slight decline in orgasm sensation! Since I am still in my mid-50s, I would like to continue to have sexual relations that include ejaculations and a more intense orgasm. I am assuming those sensations are a result of the Rapaflo."

"I am a 53-year-old man who suffers from benign prostate hyperplasia. I had to urinate 5 to 6 times every night. My family doctor put me on Rapaflo. It worked immediately, now I have to urinate only once or twice at night. It depends on how much liquid I drank. The main side effect is that there is no ejaculation at all."

"I've had a weak stream for some time, but after a recent prostate biopsy, I had extra trouble voiding. Actually, I was just dribbling and couldn't even get up a good stream. In the mornings, I wasn't sure I would be able to urinate at all. After one day, I noticed I was getting a little bit better flow, but it immediately caused dry ejaculation. I took a second day and developed a headache, which carried into the third day. This morning, I was so tired and lethargic I lay in bed till noon. I decided at this point that I would get off it and see if my energy comes back. I believe I will have to opt for surgery and get this fixed."

"Started Rapaflo last year and found it extremely effective in improving my urine flow and trips to the bathroom. I took it in the AM, but the pharmacist suggested I take it at bedtime. Taking it at night left me tossing and turning from lack of sleep. After a few nights with very little sleep, I changed back to taking it in the AM and my normal sleep returned. My biggest problem was a total lack of orgasm, no climax, and no ejaculate at all. I found by taking the drug every 3 days, I was still able to increase my urine flow and still have orgasm and ejaculate. Now my biggest problem is no coverage under my health insurance. They want me to take a bunch of old drugs that give you big breasts and no erections. Blah to that. I'll pay the $215 for 30 caps."

"I am 52 years old, and after having difficulty with urinary flow and multiple bathroom trips per night, I finally went to the doctor for the dreaded check. After no serious issues were found, my doctor suggested Rapaflo. He forewarned me about the anejaculation but said I would still have the sensation associated with ejaculation. After about a month, the sensation has ceased to exist."

"I am 66 and have been getting up 6-7 times a night to urinate. Previously, I tried Flomax, but this made me dizzy. My urologist suggested Rapaflo, which I have been taking for 5 days. I now go 3-4 times per night. No side effects, but I noticed I feel a bit lethargic and my nose is runny. I have been using only 4 mg size and may ask to try the 8 mg as I am a big guy (6'3", 205 lbs)."

"I am a 70-year-old married man. I started on Rapaflo 2 months ago. It seems to have reduced my urination trips at night from about 4 to 1 or 2. I can still have an orgasm, but I have to focus harder, and the subsequent ejaculation is dry, something I have never experienced before. It does seem to be very expensive, at $142 for a 30-day supply."

"Really not sure why my urologist gave me samples of this drug since my prostate was normal for my age and my PSA was normal. I was not having issues peeing, just some discomfort. Anyway, I tried the pills for four days. Nothing changed because I was still up 2-3 times per night like I have for years. But... the side effects were immediate. Stuffy head, headaches, and no ejaculate. Not a drop. Freaked me out. Erection was not as strong, and the 'climax' took longer to reach and was literally a split second. If you still enjoy sex, steer clear of this drug. I'm stopping immediately and will not return to that doctor. As far as I'm concerned, I paid $200 for nothing."

"56 years old with BPH, used to go at night only once, weak stream and frequent trips during the day. Took Rapaflo for 5-6 months. It helped with flow and I almost never get up during the night, but the side effects started about a month ago: little or no ejaculate, soft erections, and decreased orgasm sensations by 40%, stuffy nose. I will not continue taking the medication, side effects are worse than the problem."

"This drug will get your flow going fast - within hours I had relief. I had no side effects other than sexual. The primary sexual side effect is that it shuts off ejaculations for me. Thankfully, my doctor explained this fully. Orgasm is difficult to achieve, but when I get there, it is intense but dry. I have grown to like it as there is never a mess. Yes, orgasm is redefined, but if you can accept that and do not need to father a child, it can be great."

"Urinary symptoms improved somewhat after a few days. I experienced dry orgasm after the first dose, orgasm sensation slightly reduced. I stopped taking it for a week... ejaculation returned, but so did weakened flow and dribbling. I will start taking it again to get better flow. The lack of semen doesn't bother me all that much... we're not in the baby-making business anymore, anyway!"

"Seemed to work for about two and a half weeks, then wore off and symptoms returned. I would have had to stop taking it anyway due to unbelievable nasal congestion. Tried to stick with it for three more weeks, but since I could not breathe through my nose, I had trouble with sleep also. Also, no sperm at all. Two weeks after stopping, still some nasal congestion."

"After many months, I lost my entire sex drive, had hair loss, very rapid heart beats, shortness of breath, all over muscle weakness, sick to my stomach, and rapid weight loss and loss of balance. I had to stop driving! I caution anyone about how the benefits outweigh the risks! I will never take this ever again!"

"Given a sample of the 8 mg dose. Flow improved dramatically after about 30 mins. Effect lasts 2-3 days. There does seem to be a meaningful reduction in ejaculate. Overall, orgasm experience is somewhat less as a result. So, some tradeoff. In my case, flow had become so poor it is one worth making. Rapaflo is expensive, so trying tamsulosin as an alternative now. 55-year-old male with no other meaningful health issues."

"I've been taking Rapaflo for one week now without any adverse side effects. Rapaflo worked immediately to mitigate nightly trips to the bathroom. I now make one or two trips, and the flow is significantly stronger than previously. The only negative is that my PDP doesn't cover Rapaflo."

"I have been on Rapaflo for 2 weeks. Prior to taking Rapaflo, my urine stream was weak. It is now far stronger; I can pee twice as quickly on average. Very impressive. Flomax caused me to be dizzy; Rapaflo doesn't. Two side effects: 1) as many others have written, absolutely NO sperm during ejaculation (a really weird thing, and I am glad I read this forum; otherwise, I would have panicked). 2) Nosebleeds that last 5 minutes, probably due to the pill lowering blood pressure and/or thinning the blood."

"Found Rapaflo impossible to tolerate: bloating, severe congestion, very dry mouth, tongue like sandpaper, horrible sexual side effects, no desire, and no ejaculate. Stopped after a week. It did not improve my symptoms at all anyway."

"Started Rapaflo three days ago. Stream improved after the first day. Retrograde ejaculation today. Some stuffy nose and some bloating stomach pain in the evening. Debating whether to continue. Generally don't like medicines and do not take anything else. Would like to have Benign Prostate Hyperplasia corrected surgically but am afraid. Will give the medicine a little longer before deciding the next course of action."

"I'm 40 and was prescribed Rapaflo after blood flow to my groin was compromised due to hip alignment post-accident. I was experiencing poor urine flow, pain, and erectile dysfunction symptoms. Within a couple of hours on Rapaflo, my groin pain went away and blood flow increased. I have large, long-lasting erections, but no ejaculation and reduced orgasm. I've taken to cycling on and off Rapaflo, 3-4 days on / a week to two off, so my ejaculations are only compromised for a couple of days, but the effects seem to last a couple of weeks."

"Prescribed by urologist with samples for trial. Found negligible benefit for the intended purpose (very weak urine flow), but severe interference with sexual fulfillment and inordinately high price. I quit after six weeks."

"I'm just starting my 3rd week. Here's what I've experienced: - less frequent trips to the bathroom at night. 1 or 2 vs. 4 normal (but if I drink coffee after dinner, I revert back to 4 ... same with beer) - no ejaculate ... while somewhat disconcerting, all still feels the same during intercourse. I close my eyes during MB and don't worry about it - more consistent stream - stuffy nose - Dr. gave me a coupon, so I only pay $15/month. You can also download the same at the Rapaflo website (may not work if you're on Medicare). I go back to the Dr. next week to see if blood is still in urine, I hope not!"

"Immediate relief. Seems to be very long acting... I was prescribed Rapaflo 8 mg once daily but seem to need once weekly... I quickly know that once urine flow becomes a problem... it's time to take the medication."

"While Rapaflo relieved my BPH symptoms, the side effect of retrograde ejaculation caused me to stop taking it. My pharmacist suggested I take the generic form (alfuzosin). Best decision I made! Same benefit without side effect."

"Patient age 81. Have taken Flomax intermittently for two years. Urologist switched me to Rapaflo to improve urination and split stream. No significant improvement for flow or split stream. Within two weeks, all ejaculate stopped. Completely dry climax. Discontinuing Rapaflo, hoping ejaculation will return."
