For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I began taking Zoloft four months ago after being diagnosed with OCD, which I have suffered with for probably 15 years. I started with a dosage of 25 mg and experienced quite a bit of nausea for the first few weeks. I also dealt with a spike in anxiety, which I combated with Clonopin and relaxation techniques. My psychiatrist slowly increased the dosage to 150 mg over the past few months. During that time, with the addition of psychotherapy, I began to slowly recognize that my symptoms were decreasing. It has become much easier to recognize my intrusive thoughts as OCD, and to say 'no' to the multitude of rituals that I engaged in on a daily basis. In fact, since I have reached 150 mg, my anxiety and other symptoms have almost disappeared."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "Zoloft is wonderful, this antidepressant has made me feel so lucid for the past 9 months. It's helped me fight social anxiety and anxious depressions after I had a neurotic breakdown and had to be admitted to a hospital. This medicine has made things so clear for me, I absolutely love my life now! Recently I had not been taking it for about 6 days, DO NOT DO. It completely drained me, but I continued taking it and the side effects dispersed completely after 3 days of taking 150 mg again. Zoloft has completely leveled out my S.a.d., g.a.d, and major depression. No, it did not work immediately, but it totally works in the long run and waiting for it to take effect. Zoloft you've truly helped me become lucid in my consciousness :)."

For Depression "This medication has been wonderful for my depression. I was lucky, and this started working after just a week and a half. My negative thoughts have stopped, and I'm not so irritable. I enjoy the company of my family and have a higher libido versus none at all before. I've had side effects like nausea to begin with and strange electrical feelings every now and then, but it's worth it to me to continue."

For Depression "I've been taking 50mg of this daily for 2 weeks and I'm pleasantly surprised. I've only ever taken one other medication for my depression before this so I wasn't sure what to expect. I feel 'normal'. I don't know how else to explain it. I'm not panicking over small things or dwelling on problems I can't fix as much. My depression and anxiety makes me kind of hothead and I snap at people out of the blue, but this medication seems to be helping. The only negative side effects I've had so far are slight nausea and dry mouth. I'm going to continue to take this, and I recommend talking to your doctor to see if it could possibly work for you."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was started on 25 mg Zoloft about 3 1/2 weeks ago for long-term anxiety and depression, and it has made a huge positive impact on my life already. For the first two weeks, my side effects included decreased appetite, shaking hands, head fogginess, insomnia, headaches, nausea, dizziness, and clenching or grinding my teeth when I slept. Except for the decreased appetite (which I am happy about), all of the side effects are gone, and it was well worth waiting them out, I promise. I did have to play around with the time I took it and found that morning works the best for me. Not having those crippling feelings of anxiety and not being so miserable all the time-I should have done this a long time ago. I'm finally getting my life back."

For Panic Disorder "Be careful while taking this medication! You should start with a small dosage (25 mg) for a couple of weeks, then you can increase it slowly by 25 mg every 2-3 weeks. The side effects can be severe! The first week might be the worst week of your life, but you have to be patient because once your body adjusts to it, you will see the gains. Side effects were severe pressure in my eyes, headache, insomnia, high blood pressure, dizziness, stomach pain, severe nausea, anxiety, and passing out. But remember, although it has very severe side effects, it is worth your patience because once your body adjusts to it, it will change your life for the better and forever. I had anxiety and panic attacks for 7 years and tried dozens of medications (Cipralex, Seroxat, Pristiq, Effexor, Cymbalta, etc.), and this is the most effective medicine I've tried. Now I'm on 225 mg daily and will reduce it to 100 mg. Huge side effects in the first days... and huge gains forever. You decide."

"This has been a lifesaver. I am 34 years old, and all of my life I've had emotional problems from anger to sadness. While I do not have a diagnosis (this was prescribed to me by my regular provider), it truly has made a difference in my emotional disturbances. I started out with Zoloft 25 mg for the first month and did experience side effects for the first week or so, but they were easily treated. I purchased Imodium and nausea medication, which took care of the side effects. I took them in the morning, but I slept like a rock for the first week. I recently went up to 50 mg but did not experience any side effects. Before this medication, I would also have suicidal thoughts and urges to self-mutilate. Those thoughts are gone. The only regret I have is not trying this sooner. Highly recommend for anyone who has severe emotional disturbances or suicidal thoughts."

For Depression "I have been on this for 3 days now. On the first day, I got severe sharp headaches in the back of my head and didn't feel as hungry as normal. The second day, I wasn't hungry at all and felt a little sick. Today, I woke up and almost fainted, my vision was blurry, I had a loud ringing in my ears, and almost threw up. I've been dizzy all day and barely eaten. The side effects are horrible, but I'm going to stick with it to see if it works."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have OCD/general anxiety and depression as a result. I was considered a very severe case. A few months after the worst time in my life, I am happy and healthy. I am managing anxiety/OCD a lot better and I have VERY rare bad days. I have been taking Zoloft with therapy for a little over six months. I experienced about a week of side effects (nausea, increased anxiety, fatigue) but over quickly. I get away with taking 50 mg. Apparently the most common side effects are weight gain and loss of interest in sex. I am happy to say I am experiencing NEITHER! I gained a little bit of weight (5-10 lbs) in the last few months, but I lost about 30 lbs before Zoloft due to anxiety-linked anorexia. Now without depression/OCD, I finally have my sex drive!"

For Panic Disorder "This medication honestly saved my quality of life. The first two weeks on it were honestly rough! I thought about stopping the medication because I was having such bad side effects. I would get terrible nausea, stomach pains/diarrhea, panic attacks, and insomnia. However, after about the 3rd week, my side effects went away. I went from someone who had almost daily panic attacks to having none at all. My anxiety has pretty much completely gone away. I feel as though I have my life back and can live normally again. Without this medication, I was unable to function properly and enjoy life. Thanks to Zoloft, I am my old self again. The first 2 or so weeks may be rough, but hang in there, I promise it is worth it!"

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I've suffered from general anxiety and social anxiety my whole life. I recently started Zoloft at 100 mg and experienced side effects like diarrhea, fatigue, nausea, and an increase in anxiety. I thought the side effects would be worse, but surprisingly, it wasn't that bad. My birth control medication affected my hormones way worse. It's been a little over a month now, and I don't wake up anxious anymore. I am able to socialize better, look people in the eye, and talk more in meetings. The only downside about this medication is that it completely got rid of my sex drive. My boyfriend does not pressure me and is very understanding of my mental health journey. I'm going to see my doctor and discuss possible alternatives. It actually terrifies me because I'm scared that there is not a better alternative that will bring back my libido. For once in my life, I feel normal. I highly recommend Zoloft. If you're a single person suffering from anxiety, this would help."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for a month now. At first, I was nauseous every day and wanted to stop so badly. I stayed with it, and I can really feel a difference. I seem to be able to think more clearly and just be in a better mood altogether. I have suffered from major depression and extreme anxiety disorder since about the age of 13. I'm almost 32 now, and for once, I actually feel good. This speaks volumes for those who know me. I'm not sure if I will need to increase the dosage ever, but for now, the 50 mg seems to be the magic happy pill I've been looking for my whole life. Also, I may be one of the few, but it seems to have increased my sex drive. Weird, huh!"

For Panic Disorder "This medication has completely changed my life. I cannot be more grateful for the way it has completely eliminated my self-harm urges, aggressive outbursts, and panic attacks. I used to be explosively reactive, constantly in a state of fear and negativity. I would scream and yell and cry for hours, I would hit myself and self-harm. I would take everything personally and feel that everyone was out to get me, and everything felt like the end of the world all the time. Since taking this medication, I feel calm, focused, and at peace. Even if there is a stressful situation, I do not react poorly, but instead, I am clear-headed, and I can feel my hurt but handle it much better. My self-esteem has soared, I can now determine how I should be treated rather than accept disrespect due to my bad self-image. I can stand up for myself but be understanding towards others at the same time. My dosage is 20 mg, and the only side effects I have experienced are nausea, fatigue, and headache (first 2-3 weeks)."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I am a 17-year-old female who has been on Zoloft for almost 6 months. I used to have terrible social anxiety and was diagnosed with an anxiety and panic disorder. Since I have started taking Zoloft, my ability to speak with people has grown tremendously. I can't remember ever feeling happier than I do now, and the biggest change in me is the fact that I now feel emotionally stable. I'm only on 25mg, but I have found that it has helped me in incredible ways. The only side effects I have experienced are loss of appetite and slight nausea - I have lost a bit of weight while on this medicine, but not a dangerous amount. I highly recommend talking to your doctor about this medicine if you experience social anxiety or have panic attacks."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "I started this two months ago to help with my light depression and anxiety problems as a long-term replacement for Xanax. So far, I haven't had to use my Xanax in almost a month. I didn't think this would do much, but I was wrong. The first two to three weeks, I had some mild nausea and tiredness, but that went away pretty quickly."

"Before starting Zoloft, I was reading these reviews nonstop and promised myself I would leave one if it helped me since I was encouraged by reading others’ positive experiences. I’ve now been on Zoloft for almost 2 years and can’t believe I used to live with such unnecessary anxiety. My only regret is that I didn’t try it sooner. I worked my way up to 150 mg, which I’ve been at for like a year now, and I have seen SUCH an improvement overall. It took a while (~3 months) for it to start to take effect for me and even longer to notice the positive impact because it just made me feel normal, how I should’ve always felt! I used to wake up every day nauseous with a pit in my stomach, and the slightest thing could send me into a panic, but now I feel like I just have a more realistic grasp on my brain and reaction to stressful situations. It hasn’t made me feel numb or detached or lose my personality, it’s only helped make me a better me and live a fuller life."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I've been a person with high-functioning anxiety for a good portion of my life, but in February of this year, my anxiety reached its peak. I was having anxiety attacks that were lasting for days. I had high blood pressure, constant nausea, trembling, racing thoughts, racing heart, and wasn't able to sleep. After my third major anxiety attack in 3 weeks, I finally sought help from my doctor. I was prescribed Zoloft (25mg) and Propranolol (20mg). The first week was very bad. All of my previous symptoms were amped up. If it wasn't for the reviews on this site, I would have stopped. But I've pushed myself to keep going and I am now almost 4 weeks in and feeling a lot better. I still have issues. My biggest one is the tension in my jaw, which gives me headaches. I haven't been taking Zoloft for that long, so I'm holding out hope that this gets better. My advice to anyone starting Zoloft is to keep at it, even if you don't notice anything right away."

For Panic Disorder "I was just like all of us on here looking through the comments, scared to death to start. I have had panic disorder, anxiety, and OCD issues for the past 5 years. I could not drive far, I never went to social gatherings, stayed home for work, and made every excuse for why I could not drive to the office. At one point, I could not even walk my dog down the street. I was always at the doctor's and the emergency room. I have been in therapy for 2 years. I finally gave up my tactics that were not working and started Zoloft. I was originally prescribed 50 mg, and I was supposed to titrate up to 100 mg. I started at 12.5 mg. I stayed on that dose for 3 weeks. I had awful side effects, and you will too. I was so tired and had awful headaches, nausea, and diarrhea. The worst part about it was it made my anxiety and panic go through the roof. I am now on 37.5 mg, and my anxiety and panic are almost gone. Take it. It’s going to suck at first, but it will change you for the better."

"I am 24 years old and 125 lbs. I started taking 25 mg of Zoloft following a long period of my anxiety getting worse. I had a couple of panic attacks, and they were starting to happen more frequently, as well as struggling with nausea and just generally feeling so uneasy it was hard to leave the house at times. I really, really wish I had a better experience, but the first week on Zoloft was absolutely awful. My anxiety was constantly at its absolute worst, I had no appetite, and constantly felt nauseous. I even developed motion sickness that I never had before, I was dissociating really, really badly, and always felt dizzy. I stuck it out for a week and a half before I simply could not take it anymore. I missed one dose and was sweating and having horrible thoughts and dreams all night, tossing and turning. Ever since then, my anxiety is still bad, but it’s back to “normal,” which actually feels much better in retrospect. I wish anyone struggling the best, you are not alone."

For Social Anxiety Disorder "When I first started taking it, I had a lot of side effects, like nausea, sleepiness, insomnia, muscle twitching, decreased sexual interest, headache, nightmares, a need to move my legs, and others I can't remember, but I was desperate to get rid of the anxiety, so I persisted. Most of the side effects went away after several days. I still have the leg movement and insomnia, but it's manageable. It took about 5 ½ weeks before I noticed any effect when I feel happier, like I can't even think in a depressed way, and I can talk to people online with ease. I still panic about being outside with strangers everywhere, and conversing one-on-one is still hard. But now, after 6 weeks, my doctor has increased my dosage from 50 mg to 100 mg, so I'll see how that goes."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was diagnosed recently with purely obsessional OCD and social anxiety and started on 25mg/day of Zoloft. Aside from a brief period of what I would call adjusting to lack of anxiety and a few mild side effects (nausea from time to time), Zoloft has given me peace and stability. The obsessive thoughts are mostly gone, but even when they do rear their ugly heads, the anxiety isn't there. It's also had an awesome mitigating effect on my ADHD. The side effects show up once in a while, but I'm willing to take a little bit of nausea over constant obsessing and crippling anxiety any day."

For Depression "Zoloft was the first antidepressant I tried, and it worked well enough that I stuck with it. The first 2-3 weeks were difficult. I found myself yawning constantly, extremely drowsy, having no appetite, nauseous when I did eat, thinking about doom and death. But those were side effects that all eventually subsided. I feel a lot better because I have more control over my emotions and anxiety. I cry much less now and don't lie in bed at night thinking about suicide as much anymore. I went down in dosage from 75 mg because I felt a little too muted, like things that were really supposed to bother me didn't, and the nausea on 75 mg really sucked. I was finding myself vomiting for no reason. 50 mg has been good to me the last 6 months."

For Depression "I have been on Zoloft for 7 months now, and it has really improved my life. The first few weeks were absolutely brutal. I couldn't focus, was super dizzy, nauseous, and more depressed, etc. However, I stuck with it, and after about a month, the depression started to get much better. Of course, I still have my days (who doesn't?), but I would highly recommend trying Zoloft if you can get through the first few weeks. It truly has changed my life for the better."
